Amazing steaks, amazing baked potatoes and absolutely amazing service. We go here a few times a year and are never disappointed!

Been to this restaurant two different times. Both times a disaster. The second time was this past weekend. Some good friends came up from Houston and we took them to the stockyard to get a great feeling of some old west and to Cattlemen’s Steakhouse for some historic steaks. It was historic alright. We will never go here again after two failures. Between all four of us we ordered Rib Eyes and the Filet Mignon. All were ordered medium. All the steaks came out dry and over cooked. Our friends Filet literally came out as a dried day old biscuit. That’s how it felt. The manager was summoned. He acknowledged the steaks were bad. He assured us they would make it right and have new steaks prepared. Our new steaks arrived with the waitress. We never saw the manager again. Our new steaks were cooked properly but as we have had previously there is absolutely no flavor to these steaks. Again, we never saw the manager again. We received the bill and low and behold, nothing was comped. Not that I was expecting it but for a restaurant of this caliber you would expect better. All in all, I rate this lower than Logan’s Steakhouse. The steak was no better than what you get at Golden Corral. I give two stars only because the waitress was kind and the salad was a good salad. Don’t waist your time here.

Best place ever! We were put out by another restaurant because of our size and Cattleman’s took us no issues in 5 minutes. Service was great and food was good. If you are in Texas and and at the Fort Worth Stock Yard go here!

I had the 14 oz ribeye. It was tender and cooked perfectly. I like my steak to have more flavor but I can’t really complain about this as it just seemed that my taste is different when it comes to steak. The peppercorn sauce wasn’t very good so didn’t add to the flavor. The house salad dressing is tasty and the shrimp appetizer is good. A bit pricey for the taste experience.

We stepped in the door and left five minutes later. Here’s why: We called ahead to make a reservation. The person on the other end told us they would only hold the table for 15 minutes which is fine — in Manhattan. I told her we had an hour and a half drive ahead of us pending traffic. Well, those are the rules, she said. We arrived on time and noticed to our surprise the place was empty. Four-five tables tops. And they couldn’t find our resy. Kinda strange to make a fuss about reservation times, no? Well, we finally got seated in the adjourning room which was completely empty. Our table was on the farthest end next to the kitchen door and bussing station. In an empty restaurant. This place is a joke.

The food and services was below average. The steak was a bit overcook and bland. The shrimp was very small, it can’t be call«jumbo shrimp.» The soup was very salty. The server didn’t ask us what side we want, we have to ask her. We wave her to come over and she just stop at another table.

My boyfriend had the steak, cooked perfectly! I wasn’t too hungry-had chicken tenders and a Caesar salad-very crisp, fresh, and great service! Would love to come back when I’m hungry to try one of their yummy entrees!

When you pay $ 40 for a 9oz tenderloin you expect a decent steak. Not at Cattlemens. I thought I was eating at Chili’s but paying twice the price. Skip the tourist trap as there is a plethora of much better steakhouses if you venture outside the stockyards. Officially now the worst high end steakhouse I’ve been too. Two stars was probably being generous.

This is the first time that service has had such a negative impact on my review. We had out of towners visiting and we had told them all about Southern Hospitality. Boy, did this spot make it look the opposite of that. The place was busy and there was a little bit of a wait for a table. We were seated and the waitress brought over water and our drinks within 10 minutes. It took at least 30 minutes for her to come back take our order. We had to ask her twice before she did. In this time she served other tables more than once and just seemed annoyed that we asked to place a food order. When she eventually came over she actually gave us a lecture about how busy they are and was absolutely rude and snide when she took our orders. Unacceptable especially since the waitresses around us were serving all their tables timeously and courteously. We overheard the table next to us asking our shared waitress if they could at least get a smile now that they were paying and leaving. The food was lovely. I had the pork ribs and the other 3 in our party had steaks which they loved but no one could talk about anything but our waitress and her behavior and we could not wait to get out of there. Pretty sad for the establishment especially when you’re spending a fair amount on a meal. I WILLNEVERBEBACK

After having a phenomenal experience at this restaurant back in October of 2014, we vowed to come back and have some good steak. Well, we did have good steak, but the service went south. Before, the waiter was very attentive and also comical, displaying true Southern hospitality. He would always ask if everything is satisfactory, and made sure we always had a basket full of warm and delicious bread. This time, the service was well below satisfactory. For the most part, it was average — asking us what we wanted to drink, making sure the orders were right, etc. However, the waiter was not attentive at all, and would only drop by every 15 minutes or so. We always had to ask for more drinks or more bread. The truly bad experience was with my friend’s steak — all of us ordered medium rare except for her(she ordered medium), yet her steak had the most blood(odd, isn’t it?). Naturally she asked for it to be more cooked, and instead of taking the whole plate, our waiter just took the steak, cooked it longer, and put it back on the same bloody plate. That is not good at all. He decided to just cook a new steak later on, but placed it on the same plate. She just took that one, since we didn’t want to wait another 10, 20 minutes. Aside from the bloody medium steak, the food is still great. We went to the lunch service, so the lunch prices are very affordable and recommended. We got the 6 oz steak, and although 6 oz sounds and looks small, it’s pretty filling if you eat a good amount of bread as well. There’s a lot of choices on the dressing of the salad, and you can choose from several different kinds of potatoes(I got the horseradish mashed potatoes — they were pretty delicious). Maybe it’s just because I compare it to my previous experience, but the service definitely affected our impression on this restaurant. The food is still great so I would recommend it, but I pray you’ll get a much better service than we did.

Good steak restaurant convenient to the Stock Yards. The steak was excellent, as were the baked potatoes. My son loved that they bring the fixin’s(cheese, bacon, onions) to the table so you can heap it on(or not). Food is definitely 5-star worthy, but the service dropped it to 4-star. Our server would walk by us time and time again without recognizing us, while heaping attention on a couple at the next table. She was salty when she did talk to us. For example, she asked what we wanted to drink, and I said we’re actually ready to order. Her response… «I just asked about drinks!» Ok… The rest of the meal was more of the same, so maybe it was best she didn’t give us much attention, after all.

We had friends in from Nevada that suggested this place. Though I’m local I had never eaten here before. I was impressed! Large, tender, nicely seasoned chicken fried steak with good cream gravy. Everyone else had steaks that they raved about. One person was very impressed how his request for charred but rare was executed. I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. Highly recommend!

I was surprised when I walked in here bc the street itself was pretty hoppin as far as people out and about. When we walked into cattlemens it was quiet and chill which was fine. We also got there after 9 and they looked like they wanted to close but regardless we sat down and our waitress I believe Melissa(?) was very friendly and efficient. The décor of this place is very country, pictures of cattle everywhere, rodeo stuff, you can def tell they are proud of their culture and heritage and that was really cool to see… We ordered salads with the house dressing which was a blue cheese with Parmesan. And my fiancé got baked potato soup which was soooo good! Not very creamy and heavy which I liked but hearty, YUMMM. They wanted to sell us the cattle fries which sounded nice then we did a bit of googling and realized it’s testicles! Ahhh! The euphemism was cute though«mountain oysters» lol! Anyway I got the crab cake app for dinner and they were delicious, the dipping sauce had a surprising kick that I loved. Fiancé got a T-bone steak which he really enjoyed! All in all a really cool place, def glad we stopped in!

It has been a while since I have been in Cattlemens Steak House, we ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Ground Sirloin,(we could not tell it it was the top sirloin or the bottom sirlion) as the menu did not tell us. The bar is exceptional and the drinks we good and service person was right on the to make the evening pleasant. They have the choice of T-Bone and Rib-Eye that I passed on this occasion. Not sure, but I think I grill it the best and I did not want to be disappointed. But they offer it on their menu. I think is a great restaurant for genuine cowboy atmosphere. Without reservations the wait time was very reasonable. Have a drink enjoyed the atmosphere, extend a hand, and listen to the conversations and make news friends. It’s worth the visit in the Fort Worth Stock Yards. My 4 forks up recommendation and that’s «What’s Bob’s Eat’n» on this Saturday night.

I was really surprised how they were able to cook for a table of 15 people, and get everybody’s steak orders to perfection. The steak was amazing, as well as the fried jalapeño potato skins. Baked potato was good but it’s like any other baked potato. Good comfort food.

When your 71 year old mother who is dealing with the effects of MS comes to visit you in Fort Worth and decides she wants a steak on her Birthday, you have to try to get it right. I reviewed a few top steakhouse reviews and settled on Cattlemens as we wanted a tradition type restaurant in the stockyards area. We had early reservations at 5:00 and were seated quickly. It all went down hill after we sat down. Ordered some good cuts, large Tbone medium, fillet medium rare to medium, large rib eye medium rare and a kids plate medium. After around 40 minutes we are told there was a mistake and our order was not put in. They offered a free apitiser so we took it. After 30 minutes more we still had no food. All the people who were seated 20 – 30 and 40 minutes later are getting their food. Steaks finally show up but I knew they would be cooked like a third grader was the chef and sure enough the fillet and ribeye a were well well done. Others were off But the kids didn’t care and at that point would eat shoe leather. So instead of cooking us new steaks, the offered us ribs. We took them as we really couldnt wait any longer. Ribs were okay. Made my own 2 days prior so why bother. As it was my moms b-day she got a free key lime pie to help wash down the steak she never got. Staff tried to recover and were very pleasant but an incredibly disappointing experience. Can’t ever recommend based on our experience. Should have comped the whole meal but only took off the steaks. Boo. Not going back.

Wanted to try some authentic Texas food and some really good steak, Cattlemens was recommended. We had a group of ten and the staff was very accommodating, they quickly put two tables together for us. I love that the walls are covered with so much history and memorabilia they definitely take pride in their country roots. I love that they serve their draft beer in these huge, heavy glass goblets. We started out with some appetizers to share, Texas Toothpicks, Hand Battered Onion Rings and Calf Fries with Cream Gravy. The Texas Toothpicks are Thin-cut strips of sweet yellow onions and mild jalapeños coated with a crisp, spicy batter. These are so tasty, blend them both together for a kick! The Calf Fries(otherwise know as a bull testicles) were my favorite! Most of our group tried these, but some had a hard time getting past what they were to really give them a shot. The looked like chicken bites and tasted like spicy chicken fingers and the gravy dipping sauce gave it an extra creamy flavor to it. I went with the ½ slab of Barbecued Ribs, cooked perfectly with a side of mashed potatoes. Others ordered steak and prime rib, there were no complaints.

Bartender was nice and helpful with tasting local craft beers on tap but when we got to the table ordering took a long time(we did have a party of 11). I ordered the T-bone steak medium rare and it came to the table dry and way over cooked. The waiter brought me another that was severely undercooked. Even if it had been cooked perfectly the meat was seasoned ok but surprisingly tough. Not what I expected spending $ 40 on my steak at a famous steak house in the heart of steak country.

I saw many 2 and 5 stars before going myself. Nice side room for a date, good waiter, warm soft rolls, cold crisp salad, hot soft baked potato. Really expensive ribeye– flavorless. We were very disappointed by that. It’s supposed to be a steakhouse.

My server was awesome! The spicy shrimp was great. However, the main entrée(Kansas City sirloin steak) was Meh… I’ve experienced better. The steak was too fatty for my liking. This place was suggested by a hotel staff member where I lodged. It is billed as one of the oldest(if not the oldest) steak house in Ft. Worth. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the nice Texas décor. Also, it reminded me of a 2nd — 3rd tier Chicago steak house(Mattson’s). The appetizer spicy shrimp was the best part of my meal. The steak was a dud due to the excess amount of fat surrounding the steak. I knew Cattlemen’s would not exceed my expectation when I saw A1 steak sauce bottles at certain tables. A great steak does not require A1 steak sauce. The baked potato was good which accompanied my steak. I exited Cattlemen’s wishing I should have ordered a sandwich of some sort.

Yes, it’s a tourist trap place in the FTW Stockyards. But, keeping that in mind, the food was good and they know how to move people through a restaurant. On a whim we headed down to the stockyards to go see a rodeo without paying attention to the fact it was a beautiful Friday evening and knowing they would be swamped with tourists. Looking for a pre-rodeo dinner venue was looking pretty grim with wait times exceeding an hour. Heck, I can go home and back on that time! So, anyway, I popped my head into Cattlemens and they said they had a bout a 20 minute wait so we headed to the bar for a drink. In about 5 minutes they called our name and had us seated. Not too bad! The food was good and the service was excellent, despite the fact that they were packed. My wife and I had steaks while my brother had chicken fried steak. Everyone was happy with their meal. It’s a tad pricey, but it is in the tourist section so that is to be expected. Décor is a bit dated but I think that adds to the ambiance, you can tell there’s a bit of history in the place. I would take friends who are visiting here just to give them a bit of the FTW experience.

Here it is, my very FIRST one-star review. It pains me that it is for Cattlemen’s but they earned it. Let me start off by saying that I used to live in Fort Worth. Ever since I had my first meal here it has solidly held the spot for the«Second Best Steak I’ve Ever Had.» But, upon returning while in town, that all changed… Décor: It’s classic Texas inside, which is perfect because it is on the prime corner in the stockyards. Everything is wood, checkered tablecloths, the works. It fun. It’s exactly what the tourists want. There are LOTS of tables, so you can bring any size group, and there is a lot of cool history on the walls. Bathroom: It’s well lit and takes care of business. Staff: Our waiter left much to be desired. He messed up our order, was no where to be found when we needed him, and feigned sincerity when apologizing for his screw ups. In addition, the guy cooking the steaks on the grill was horrible. I wish I knew his name so this place could fire him but he SUCKS! He shouldn’t be anywhere near a grill, let alone responsible for the king of all beef(steak). Food/Drink: They have goblets(I call them scooners) of beer, what else would you want to drink? They also have steak, and lots of it. The cuts are decent but I really wonder about their weights — much smaller than I remember… Additionally, like I alluded to above, the guy cooking the steaks doesn’t have a clue how to make a good one. An improperly cooked steak is a crime and this place is guilty as charged. They don’t know the difference b/t «rare» and«medium,» which is just despicable for a STEAKHOUSE in TEXAS! The rest of the food(sides for our steaks) were fine. Oh, and the ribs looked and tasted like they were microwaved… Value: Given that they have really gone down hill, even rock bottom, the prices you pay for what you get are just not right. Cut the prices in half and I’d still feel like I was getting ripped off. Like I said, this place used to be one of my favorites. In fact, we were in town for literally 48hrs(with only one night free for dinner of «our choosing») and I 100% INSISTED that we come to Cattlemen’s. What a mistake. One that I will not be making again because I will NOT be returning to Cattlemen’s in the future. Nor can I recommend it, as I always have, to anyone who asks. If you want a good steak, and an AMAZING meal, don’t come here. Do yourself a HUGE favor and hit Grace instead(aka the best restaurant in Fort Worth and my favorite restaurant PERIOD).
