Shipwreck Motel

This was our first trip to OSC FMB. This hotel turned out to be a wonderful gem. It’s low-​key, centrally located, clean, inexpensive, and the staff is friendly. When we weren’t out at the beach or enjoying an evening at a local dive having dinner and drinks, and listening to a live band, we spent time sitting around the docks on the lagoon side enjoying the peaceful view and reading a favorite book. Cap’t Butch’s Boat Taxi has a stop here. The pool on the NE end is next to a parking lot and picks up street noise (best for families with kids). The pool on the SW end is quiet and peaceful (great for floating and tanning).

Nice place. Reasonably priced and right near the square of Ft. Myers Beach. You can’t beat it for the price!

Phil and the other staff went out of their way to comfortably and adequately house us for a romantic evening getaway on OSC Fort Myers Beach. Most chill hotel ever, must stay here!!! Thank you guys!!!

Great little find. My wife and I were on a no destination road trip stopping wherever we felt like. It was the Friday before Labor Day, not to smart on our part. We lucked out and got a room for $ 89.00. At that price I was worried it was going to be a dive. It turned out to be a great little place in a great location. The room was very clean and well decorated with quality furnishings. It even had a kitchenette with a full size coffee maker. The pool was clean and there’s docking for your boat. You can walk to everything you need to, restaurants, bars, boardwalk, beach, and fishing pier. You can’t beat it for the price. We would definitely stay there again and most likely will.

So cute and close to everything. Comfortable room, nice pool, loved the seating areas outside and walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Price was great for the location!!!

You get what you pay for. We stayed here for the close location to the beach and rates considering most of the hotels where booked. We got to the room and was fine but at bedtime, we discovered SAND in the bed. SAND! I was totally creeped out, we didn’t even make it to the beach that day because it was so cold out. I stayed at the Shipwreck because the reviews said clean but it turns out, they likely didn’t change the sheets before we got there. I was appalled. Had they not already charged our credit card, we would have left.

The one star is because it is very conveniently located and a very short walk to the very crowded beach. The motel is pretty run down and the grounds poorly kept. I walked 20 feet to a table by the pool and my feet were black on the bottom! The walkways were never swept or hosed down at all for the 8 days I was there. I would not swim in the pool after I saw he guy «clean» it. All he did was scrub off the «bathtub ring». I never saw it vacuumed. The guests would walk around barefoot and their feet were black when they went in, yuck! The lounge chairs on the dock out back were filthy and I had to clean one before I could sit on it. They apparently don’t have many towels because when they come to clean the room they take the dirty towels and you wont get any until they wash them. Most days we had to go in the office and ask for washcloths or bathmats. The bath mat was an old towel with holes. The mini fridge smelled like rotten food and when I complained, they sent the housekeeper to clean it. Her idea of cleaning it was to spray it with Lysol! It then stunk like rotten food and Lysol. The second day we noticed they didn’t change the sheets and we asked a worker how often they did it. He said about every three days. We complained and they changed them about every second day. I tried to leave early by a few days and they wouldn’t refund anything so I stayed the whole 8 days. My advice is pay a little more and find a better place. Oh yeah, no wi-​fi.

Great price and great location. Very comfy for what you pay.

This was such a quaint, strange little place in a prime location on Fort Myers Beach.
It was definitely kitsch, and a true motel (2 small swimming pools, check-​in inside a retail store) but I have no complaints. The room was brightly decorated and spotless. We had a kitchenette and a well-​sized bathroom with homely décor.
Beyond the walled-​in pool outside were 2 deck-​style bars playing live music and a great atmosphere. (not saying the music was loud, it was just a great buzz when we emerged for dinner at 8pm)
And even in the morning, when the pool was full of kids, we could barely hear them. There is a funny little boardwalk out back for BBQ’s lounging and relaxing, and the beach and restaurants are a 2 minute stroll down the block.
We paid $ 125 in the summertime and I would definitely stay here again.
