Went for Weekday Lunch Special Food — 5⁄5. The kkakdugi stood out amongst the banchan as especially delicious. It’s texture showed that the kkakdugi had been given enough time to sit in the fridge to reach quality level. The jajangmyeon noodles had a nice bite and the sauce was rich with stir-fry flavor. The dumpling was crispy with a nice meat filling and the sweet and sour pork was meaty with a delicate clean sauce. The fried rice was on the dry side but that is natural and also the reason it is accompanied by a rich egg drop soup. Service — 4⁄5. The service was quick and efficient. Today the weather decided to give me a heavy downpour so one of the staff opened the back door for me so I do not have to go all the way around to the front door in the rain! Style points! Price — 5⁄5. Their lunch menu offers the sweet and sour pork platter that comes with dumping, jajangmyeon, fried rice and egg drop soup at $ 11. A great spot for Chinese-Korean for lunch! Parking — Private Lot(Free)

I ate her once about a year back and really was not impressed. Everything seemed very sweet. Went again today as I was craving jajamyun tangsooyuk combo. Today was very good. Still a little sweet but much better than last time. Price is very good!

Tough review to write as I do not know if what I had tasted the way it is supposed to and it is just not my thing or not. I got the lunch special with Fried Dumplings and jjajang. The dumplings were pretty good, not the best I have ever had but would get again. The jjajang was not really my thing but based on other reviews it seems it is more me than the dish. Will have to come back and try some other things.

If you see the word eCastle on the building you have the right place and parking is behind the building. One of two favorites in the northern NJ area for Korean-Chinese food. The other is Te Min Quan in Palisades Park. They have two private group rooms available for reservation if needed(accommodates approx. 7 – 15 people). They have a somewhat unique item on their menu that’s delicious(see you rim gi in my recommendation section below). For: those who love asian comfort food, jja jang myun, you rim gi Not For: upscale dinners and those not familiar or unwilling to try korean-chinese food Recommend: jja jang myun(thick noodle with black bean sauce) & you rim gi(fried chicken with hour and sour soy sauce)

Pretty decent Korean-Chinese restaurant, but definitely not my go-to for jjajjangmyun. Prices are very reasonable, the service is quick, and the food was ok for the most part. Came here for a weeknight dinner and we ordered spicy shrimp for app, and jjajjangmyun + fried rice. The jjajjangmyun and fried rice were ok, but the spicy shrimp was a bit too much on the soggy side rather than the crispy side.

The food here is usually really good for Korean-Chinese cuisine. However, this last time we ordered take out, the tangsuyuk tasted like it was reheated or refried. The restaurant refunded the cost for the dish after some discussion, but we had to drive back and return it.

Went in on a Saturday night, arround 8pm. Restaurant was busy but not full. I ordered the Fried Chicken meal for 1 to take out, and cost me $ 10,60. Waited only 12 – 15 mins, and package were well conditioned with the food. Very good sized portion, big chicken pieces, more chicken then I expected. Overall ai recommend the place. Dish is very worth it for the price. Coming back when arround.

I often come in for the 4.99 lunch special because its always worth it. They have other options on the lunch special for 6 or 7 bucks too. I either go with the jja jang myun(4.99) or rice dishes which come with fried meats. Whatever I choose on the lunch special is always a great deal. The portions are perfect. Most of my female lunch company cant finish their meals. The only downside is that this place gets packed during the 12 to 1:30 hours. The rear parking lot is pretty big, but even that gets filled. And the food tends to come out with a delay as well depending on what you order. So if possible, i always come around 2 to 3. Even if you come at 2:45, you could order off the lunch menu, which ends at 3. The dinner rush seems to depend on the day. Ive been there on packed and really slow weekends and weekdays. I guess I dont know enough to know which days are busiest and slowest… The portions for dinner are bigger than lunch portions! Seafood dishes have more seafood, meat dishes have more meat, etc. Whats best is that the prices are not too far from the lunch menu. Literally its only a two dollar difference for a lot of the meals. I wouldnt recommend this place for any business meetings because the interior isnt so amazing. Its not run down or anything, but definitely not modern or fancy. Its more of a local good eats kind of place. Come for the food more than the interior. They have takeout but its a dollar more for lunch special! Which is still cheaper than many other lunch specials around town. If you come with a big group, ask if a room is available! Sitting in the rooms and sitting in the hall is a difference. Just feels more special and private in the rooms. But they only let you have a room with a bigger group. I think it might be a six person minimum, but it might also depend on the day or time of day.

I had the spicy seafood noodle soup. It was alright. Overpriced Chinese/Korean food. My boyfriend had #16, and said his noodles were soggy. His meal also came with half a bowl of broth. Won’t go there again.

Went here for lunch and the service was fast! We got the lunch combos. For both of us, one jajang and fried rice, and another jajang and jambong, the total came out to $ 20 including tip :) Definitely big enough serving to satisfy your cravings! Fyi, the jajang was a little sweeter than expected.

Ever since my favorite Jajangmyun(noodles w/black bean sauce) place Omori closed down(RIP Omori), I’ve been searching for my new favorite jajangmyun spot and I think I’ve found it here… but not because of their jajangmyun ironically. The jajangmyun is fine here. Honestly, jajangmyun is pretty much just OK anywhere you go in this area. I just make sure to avoid the places that make it too sweet. But the main reason I will be coming back here is 1) their prices are definitely lower across the board than other places(their lunch specials are crazy cheap too), 2) they offer combo meals during non-lunch hours so you can get your noodle dish with a side of spicy chicken or sweet and sour pork all for a good price, and 3) their kangpoongee(spicy chicken) is probably the best I’ve had in the area. The breading isn’t overpowering(like it is at most places), the sauce is spot on, and the chicken tastes like legit chicken. Especially given the increase in prices in other Korean-Chinese spots in the area, this place is all the more appealing to me. Maybe you guys haven’t noticed, but kangpoongee/tangsooyook used to be $ 14 – 16 anywhere you went, but now it’s more like $ 18 – 22. But if you get a combo at Dong Bo Sung, you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for those dishes. AND it’s good here too. Bonus points for having a pretty spacious(free) parking lot behind the restaurant. Service could be a little bit better but it certainly was not bad service.

I came in for lunch at 11 and it was empty so I got my order really fast. I ordered the Kkang pong ki over rice and my my sister ordered the jja Jang myun, which was only 4.99!!. The proportions were really big because I couldn’t finish mine. I would advise to get here a little early because once it hit 1130 the restaurant became packed! They also have parking in the back.

Korean Chinese restaurants are always changing. They all have their ups and downs. Right now, dong bo sung is better than the rest for it’s quality. I LOVE spicy food so I have never tried their regular jja jang myun. Instead I always order the kan jja jang. It’s freshly made and I always them to make it very very spicy. If it’s not spicy enough, I ask for the chili oil hot sauce, but they usually get it right. Also, the tang soo yook(sweet fried pork?) is better than other places. Not too sweet and not too oily. TIP: the lunch specials are cheap, but can get really packed. If you don’t have time to wait for your food, avoid the lunch special and go for dinner. It’s literally a dollar or two difference. PROS: really good food, parking lot behind the restaurant, BYOB, cheap lunch speacial

I just don’t know what happened to this place. This was my go to spot for their spicy seafood soup(jjam ppong). The quality of the food is extremely poor. The soup base tastes like instant ramen soup. The«seafood» is squid legs and weird parts. The vegetables are largely cut onions, 2 pieces of zucchini(if you get lucky), and garlic. The ingredients for their pal-bo-chae, seafood with vegetables, has gotten so cheap, it’s not even worth the money. The brown paste noodle was just ok. If you’re starving, you may want to try this place out.

This is a decent Korean-Chinese restaurant. I’ve been here a few times and I’ve tried two items. Jajangmyun or noodles with black bean sauce and kampoongi or sweet fried chicken. Both items were pretty standard and in line with most other Korean-Chinese places. The jajanyun was cooked well and sauce wasn’t overpowering. The kampoongi had a good mix of spice and flavor to the chicken. I mostly come here for the lunch specials. The jajangmyun is $ 5 and is a pretty good deal. There is a parking lot you can park at in the mini-mall right by this restaurant. During peak hours its really busy there, and its hard to find spots. If you can’t find parking at the mini-mall, there’s an A and P across the street, where you can park at.
