This is a great Mom and Pop hardware store, people are always friendly and able to help me with my little around the house projects. They’re not always the fastest of stores, but the service is worth the weight.

Back in January of 2012 I wrote a review of Joseph’s that was noncommittal and leery in tone. They were fairly new then and rough around the edges, and, as I suspected, probably still settling in. Flash forward to 2015. My wife and I have patronized Joseph’s regularly in the last few years, as their biggest advantage, being just blocks from our house, is highly convenient. We’re probably there every week or two, usually with our two kiddos in tow. I’m happy to report that my initial impressions of Joseph’s Hardware were wrong, and they have indeed become our first ‘go-to’ for everything hardware related. I’ve been pleasantly surprised again and again by the comprehensive variety of items in stock. More often than not I’ve found things there to fix my Jeep, not my house. They have really upped their game in customer service, and we get greeted several times when we walk in, and asked repeatedly if we need help. This is awesome. I really can’t understate how valuable a good hardware store nearby can be, and Joseph’s has been great. I hope they are around for a long time. Anyway, I wanted to update my review for timeliness and to reflect a more favorable impression. These guys have earned it.

Best hardware store in town. You can get service anytime, and they know what they are talking about. They only carry good products not crap and everyone that works their is very friendly, plus their dog friendly and have treats at the counter for your dog. Local, small, no traffic and the customer service is 10 fold better than Home Depot or Lowes. I refuse to shop anywhere else for hardware I’ve been shopping there for 5 years and will continue to do so. Even if they have to order my part in I’d rather wait than drive to a competitor.

The quarrelsome, rheumatic, cranky gentleman at the paint counter finally compelled me to write a review. He completely ignored a young woman who was quietly waiting – I think it was difficult for him to turn around and he simply didn’t feel inclined to acknowledge her or make eye contact. When she tried to get his attention, he snarled at her then started a long-winded conversation with another patron about fertilizer. When the woman got tired of being ignored and left the store, the paint counter gentleman complained loudly about her, that he was too busy to multi-task and couldn’t she see that he was busy??. Not only rude, and discourteous customer service, but completely unprofessional. I’d always had erratic customer service at this store but frequently visited because it was closer to my house than Ace Hardware. The slow service at the paint counter and the unprofessional, downright disagreeable unhappy gentleman working there, has finally convinced me to stop going to this store. Most of the staff at the store have excellent customer service skills but the store should make a concerted effort to raise the standards across all their staff.

I walked through the door and towards the back at a brisk pace, and was still greeted and offered help immediately, in a friendly and unobtrusive way. The man was older and knew exactly where to point me. A little later I came back to the counter to ask about something, and a younger girl was very helpful as well. They didn’t have exactly what I was looking for, but she asked listened to what I needed it for, and tried to come up with a few other solutions. In short, excellent service. They also had a pretty good range of products, each with a decent selection. Prices were a little higher than you’d pay at Home Depot, etc… but that’s just part of the decision to go local. I’d definitely come back.
