I’ve come here for brunch & dinner. Brunch was EXCEPTIONAL. I got the eggs Benedict & it was phenomenal. For dinner I had a salad and hummus place as an appetizer. The hummus plate was blah but the salad was light, refreshing and REALLY good! I don’t remember the name of what I got but it had beets in it. Delish! This place is a little on the pricier side to go weekly but worth it when you do go!

The food was horrible the first time I came here. I waited forever and kept seeing everyone around me,(that came after me), get their food while I continued to wait. When the food finally arrived it was cold and not what I ordered. I didn’t complain but the waitress brought me some vouchers to apologize for the experience. I do appreciate them owning up to the bad service. Although I really wanted to like this place when I went back my experience was less than great again. I waited a long time for someone to come to our table and after finally flagging someone down the food came quickly but wrong again. I ate it anyway because I’m not in the habit of sending food back and it was ok. The service though leaves much to be desired.

My wife and I just moved to the area and decided to check this place out. Really great experience. The food was so good — The mac & Cheese was the best I have ever had in my life, and the chicken was really juicy and tender. And just like other comments, the music was great, 90’s alternative rock, like Crash Test Dummies. It was at the perfect volume, high enough so you can hear it(and sing along) but low enough where you can have a normal conversation without having to yell at the person next to you.(However, there is a lot of conversation noise since it was so busy but this isn’t anything that the restaurant could fix) The only downside is it seems no matter when you go this place is always busy. but if you end up waiting it is worth it.

My friend had been trying to get me to come here and brunch with her. I’m glad that we made it there at 11, just in time for it to open.(You will be waiting outside if you come any later). The food was prepared quickly but it was totally brunch material. I got the Eggs Benedict, and the sauce was totally gratifying. If I can ever make it to Forest Hills by 11 am on a Sunday again, I’ll probably come here and try something else.

A small lil gem right in Forest Hills. The place is perfect for a nice toasty dinner with frnds or a sunny breakfast morning. Went there for a sunday brunch the next day after Jonas Storm. Surprisingly the place was packed with people and the waitress was cheerful. After reading a lot of reviews of Unilocal I ordered French toast with Bananas and Eggs Benedict. Both were delish! The coffee too came in the French press style which was also freshly brewed. Just loved loved this place!

This was an accidental find. I went here with a friend. She and I had a really good time. The place is small and intimate. When we got there it was virtually empty but it filled up fast! Our meal consisted of the hummus starter, the mac and cheese and the grilled chicken sandwich. Let me just say the mac and cheese is to die for! I’ve been raving about it for the last few days. The hummus was good too as was the chicken sandwich. We enjoyed our meal with wine although the waitress was not too sure when we asked her some questions about the wine selections. That’s okay because we still enjoyed ourselves and had a lovely evening.

This place is a local Gem. I have probably tried most things on their menu. I’ve come here with Hubby on a double date with friends a couple of times. Sometimes with just a girlfriend. They have a great menu, most memorable I would say is their amazing Mac and cheese and their meatballs with cauliflower purée. They’re cheese board is worth a try for you cheese lovers. If you’re a meat lover go for the hanger steak or even the kale steak salad. You won’t be disappointed. I’ve also tried their burger on a brioche bun which was carb/protein heaven. If you go during happy hour, you’ll get great wine for a very low price. I would say check it out and you will def. be a consistant patron.

The food was good, The texture of my french toast could have been a little less soggy. the temperature of the meal was ok, they don’t have flavored coffee The bacon is UBER thick The brunch menu is so small and perfect, it leaves no room for indecisiveness The service, poor The server didn’t introduce herself, or ask was this the first time at the resturant or recommend anything she came up to us and said«are you ready to order» I didn’t know there was a cocktail menu until I looked at the other tables, had I known they had more spirits than just wine I would have ordered an alcoholic beverage, at the end she cleared off our table & didn’t ask if we would like to have any desserts or order anything else. Overall It was okay. I would come back again & know the service to expect.

Boyfriend and corn beef and hash with two eggs while I had the eggs Benedict. Overal, I give it 4 stars. We got a seat right away, it was a 1pm on a Saturday, got pretty packed after we got there. We did not have the best of luck parking in the area, but in that area of Forrest Hills, it is a hit or a miss. The portions were a good size. Prices were fair. We didnt get any drinks or any specific sides but we will be back!

Jack & Nellie’s is a very cozy little restaurant. I went for dinner on a Saturday night. It’s kind of dark inside the restaurant, which made it difficult for me to cut my steak. The restaurant is dimly lit, so it makes a good date spot. There’s an actual candle on each table. But if you want to take pictures of your food, you’re going to have to be obnoxious and turn on your flash. I ordered the steak sandwich. It was really good. The steak was tender and flavorful. I actually didn’t think the sandwich was going to fill me up, but I had a difficult time finishing it. My friend ordered the hanger steak. The hanger steak was already pre-sliced and it was smaller than I expected. But the steak was cooked perfectly.

I came here for brunch with 2 of my girlfriends. I ordered the eggs Benedict AND the french toast. Yes, yes how gluttonous of me but I just couldn’t choose so I ordered both. The eggs benedict was DELICIOUS and I would definitely recommend it. The portions are not too big though so ordering two entrees didn’t turn out to be that much. I tried my friend’s side of candied bacon and it was very good too. I would definitely recommend that. Lastly, we each got 2 or more of their sake breakfast cocktail. It was fruity and very tasty!

In my experience, when you want some good brunch, you go to Brooklyn. But as an eternal optimist and adventure seeker, I decided to venture out of Brooklyn for a nice Sunday afternoon meal. I ended up at Jack and Nellie’s, a small restaurant located in Forest Hills, Queens. The restaurant itself is cozy and cute, and the interior kind of reminds me of restaurants I frequented while in Paris(simple, dim, and intimate). The restaurant was filled with«Brunchers», so we did have to wait for a table to open up(about 30 minutes). The first thing I noticed upon opening the menu was that Jack and Nellie’s offered some great traditional brunch options, but only one option for vegetarians. Everything had eggs, bacon, or the sort. I mean, I get it. The word Brunch screams eggs and meat and other deliciously greasy accoutrements, but I’ve been to other places that offer vegetarians a bit more than a salad. Anywho, when weighing in on a decision between fries or a salad, fries win(almost every time). So I opted for some fries and a French Pressed coffee. The fries were average; thin and crunchy and nicely salted, but no defining flavor making me think«oo la la». The French Pressed coffee, however, was sooooo good. I’ve never tried coffee prepared in a French Press, and I have this restaurant to thank for the pleasant introduction. I’m considering ordering all of my coffees like this forever and ever, if possible. My cousin ordered the two eggs any style with bacon, hash browns, and toast. She was a fan of everything except the hash browns, with resembled more of a mashed potato. My mom ordered the Tomato Eggs Benedict which she really really liked. She expressed the Hollandaise sauce was perfectly creamy and plentiful on her drenched English Muffin. Her salad also had a very tasty dressing. All in all, good brunch spot if you live in Queens and want to stay local.

This is the second time I have been to this place and honestly the last time. First time I came here for brunch it was super cramped and the food was eh. I came here tonight to grab a bite and try them out for dinner and I was served some seriously burnt bread. Ridiculously burnt. Where I had to scrape the burnt part off and eat around it. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. The happy hour wine: The wine portion served for 6 dollars was barely there. The waitress doesn’t know how to serve beer. Every time se pours my boyfriends beer it just kept foaming. Really ?!! You’re a waitress and you don’t know how to pour beer?!! Long story I am so done with this place. Tonight was a total disappointment. Oh wait, the waitress just told me that they took a dollar of my bill because of the burnt bread. Really ?!! Adding insult to injury. Shame !!!

I’ve been wanting to try Jack & Nellie’s to see what the hype was about. Per Unilocalers’ advice, my husband and I arrived early and totally didn’t realize it didn’t open till 11AM on Saturday. We patiently waited, along with many others which must be a good thing, and they opened right at 11AM. I liked that they asked who arrived first so they could be seated. Definitely shows respect and other patrons walked in the order of who arrived so all in all, polite crowd! Get here early because tables filled up by 12PM. We ordered the eggs benedict and two eggs platter. I’m an eggs benedict fan and this was probably my favorite version. It was delicious! I highly recommend if you like this dish. The crunchy, slightly crispy muffin made the difference. There was a type of salsa on top sprinkled with scallion and perfectly poached egg with light hollaindaise sauce. I don’t know if it was that combo, but all the flavors mixed together were delicious. You can taste the crunch, slight hint of spice and burst of salsa. Well done! Almost wished they served more than just two eggs. The plate comes with creamy homefries(really nicely done) and a small, small salad. It’s a good portion for brunch. The sausage in the two eggs platter was yummy! The French press coffee was cool and definitely had a kick to it. They only have a serving for two or four. I can see why people love coming here. There’s a great local neighborhood feel to it. Nothing outrageously fancy, just good food, great service and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely coming back to try dinner!

I was so happy when I found a 4 star rated brunch place(with eggs benedict) in queens! I came here for my birthday brunch with my Godfamily on a Sunday afternoon and the wait was about 45 minutes, which is normal especially because the place is rather small. After my experience there, I don’t think it was worth the 45 minute wait. The service was super slow. Yes it was a full house, but the waitress was not attentive and everything was just so slow. Our dishes came at different times; one coming out more than 5 minutes later than the others. I got the eggs benedict, which was mediocre, I don’t even remember what it tasted like anymore but one of my eggs was overcooked. One of the most important factors of an eggs benedict is the poached egg, that«runnyness» and it was saddening not to see the yolk pour out of the egg as i cut into it. My dad also got eggs benedict and one of his eggs was also overcooked. Two of my godsisters and my godmother all ordered the french toast, one godsister’s was cooked perfectly but my other godsister and godmother’s were completely burnt on the bottom. They were burnt to the point where it wasn’t even edible and they had to cut off the whole bottom. Overall, meh. I’d rather travel to Manhattan to get a good brunch!

awesome and popular brunch spot in forest hills! I came here on a saturday with some family, and it was pretty packed at around 12:30. Unfortunately, they don’t take reservations and you can’t claim a table without your whole party being there. The brunch menu was pretty good and my table ended up getting an avo toast, the eggs benedict, and omelette. They were all plated quite aesthetically and the avo toast was very good! It was a large sandwhich with slices of avo and an egg made over-easy. The fries were also delicious too. Though the food was good, space was rather limited as the tables and bar area all were filled during brunch time. I’d definitely come back again though!

I have been here two times before, both for brunch, and both times I left happy and stuffed. Their brunch menu is the typical brunch fare– steak and eggs, corned beef hash, eggs two ways, and yes, eggs benedict for all you eggsluts out there. I, myself, am also a major sucker for yolkporn and mostly look forward to getting brunch to bask in that runny egg goodness without being judged(as much). The first time, I ordered eggs benedict, while the second time, I ordered off their specials menu, the caprese benedict. Both were well-cooked and yummy, although I would prefer the original just because I felt like the mozzarella on the caprese benedict kinda overpowered the dish. The dish also included a side of potato hash; although cooked well, was nothing too special. However, I am a big fan of the arugula salad on the side, as it provides a crispier and healthier balance to what is known to be a pretty heavy dish. My date had steak and eggs, which he thought was delicious. Portions are on point, and for a light eater like me, pretty much had me full the entire time until dinner. Some other reasons why I heart Jack & Nellie’s: — Their mimosas are only $ 4. uhh hello, I definitely had no shame ordering one first thing in the morning. Another reason to day drink, correct?(unfortunately, I think drink-wise, the prices of everything else was still pretty much what you could expect of any brunch place in the city) — Service is welcoming and fast. Both times I was greeted with a smile and our water glasses were never half empty. — Décor is cute/trendy. They even have a bar where you can sit at and ogle their quite-large collection of alcohols/wines. …speaking of which, their drink selection is pretty impressive. What they’re serving is listed on the blackboard near the bar. — Bathroom is clean. Some downsides is that the place is somewhat small. It contains about 7 – 8 tables max, so I can imagine there being a wait during peak hours. But I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes each time. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because the brunch offerings were on the boring side-I would love to see more adventurous pairings, or maybe more variety in the mimosas. But I will definitely be back for brunch when I get the occasional weekend morning off.

This place is a very cozy little brunch place! The service was excellent and I only waited about 10 min for a walk in on Mother’s Day. Not bad at all considering the entire venue was packed. Drinks here are very decently priced. I would definitely recommend this place for a boozy boozy brunch. The eggs benedict, corned beef hash, and steak and eggs were all pretty decent. The candied bacon is a MUST. That was the highlight of my meal.
