Ala Roma Pizzeria & Pub

This place always seems to busy and with a pretty good reason for being so. The food here is good, not great, but good and the portions are large. This is typical red sauce Italian fare that you find in most towns across the US. Pizzas, calazones (or as they call them-​Panzerottis), hot subs and pasta. I never had a bad meal here and while I’ve never had a truly memorable meal either we hit this place on a semi regular basis. There is better pizza in town but as an overall Italian restaurant this one is tops in town. And the service is usually pretty good especially considering how busy they always seem

I just ate the best gyro of my life at an Italian restaurant in Wisconsin of all places!
Was visiting Fond du lac for work and happened upon Ala Roma based on a locals recommendation. The place was packed!
We were still seated right away and handed a mini novel of a menu. I literally had to close the menu after 5 minutes because I kept changing my mind. Everything looked so delicious. Don’t get me started on the plates of food being walked by our table. I saw the huge portions and inhaled the yummy smells.
We all decided to get something different so we could sample.
Meatball sub– you may be able to finish this sandwich that’s bigger than your head if you leave half the bread out. Tender meatballs with LOADS of cheese. Yum!
Lasagna– 4 layers of cheesy meaty goodness. There was no way we could finish it. Flavorful Italian spice.
Roma gyro– so glad I ordered the side salad and not fries. It was a big gyro. The meat was tender and prepared just right. The homemade tazatziki sauce was very creamy and a nice compliment.
Next time I’m in FDL I’m definitely coming back here!

While in Fond du lac I wanted to go to Schreiners restaurant for a craft beer from the pub and take home some clam chowder. The pub was completely packed but I noticed this pub right across the road.
The pub was nice looking with brick, dark wood, industrial looking lamps etc. High ceilings with exposed ducting that is copied everywhere. Flat screens and the Wi gambling machines thing that is everywhere. 15 or so taps with an assortment of bottles for your liking. The Jim Beam guitar hanging from the ceiling is a must for a pub.
My server was great at recommending what the most popular craft beer they sell because I liked it. She also did a great job and kept on top of my visit. I had the Central waters American pale ale which I liked and came to a whopping $ 3.50. I liked that the beer was cold and that it is served in a frosted glass, my personal fav.
Overall this was a nice place to chill and have a couple cold ones with friendly service. I would definitely go back for a cold one.

I order somewhat regularly from Ala Roma for delivery and I would say I enjoy 80% of the menu items Ive tried. I would call it Americanized Italian. Very big portions. The agnolitti 3 (fried ravioli) and Roma’s breadsticks are my personal favorites (the hot homemade alfredo served with the breadsticks is a nice touch). I have ordered a few sandwiches and pasta in the past where there is too much cheese however and I don’t think Ive ever had that complaint about a restaurant before. I am a Wisconsin native and love cheese on everything but ½lb of Mozz on a sub or pasta is overdoing it guys. First time Ive ever picked off and discarded cheese.
Broccoli and cheddar boats were a letdown as you get a few hollowed out potatoes, pre-​chopped frozen brocolli and some cheese sprinkled on top. Not worth $ 8 in my opinion.
Pizza is pretty good but I should warn you that they serve canned mushrooms… something that I find unacceptable considering the price.
Good overall. Good service most of the time.

Fantastic Italian food! Beautiful and comfy interior, friendly staff, fast delivery, excellent prices for portion sizes! I often order delivery and I normally have left overs for my lunch the next day!

Best meatball sandwich on the planet. Get it with a Greek salad, so good and good portion sizes for the price.

Always a great meal, server last time wasn’t very friendly seemed annoyed but the foods good. Pizza and Italian food has been delicious everytime, love that they offer gnocchi and it’s delicious! Also they deliver and package up the food nice, good portion sizes.

My wife and I came for lunch — gluten-​free pizza. Service was very good and very friendly. The pizza was very good in spite of what is a rather bland crust. The excellent sauce and cheese made up for what was missing in the crust. The Greek salad that we had along with the pizza was excellent.
If we weren’t tourists and lived in the area this is a place we would come back to. I’m sure that there other gluten-​free options I would enjoy, but we were hunting for pizza.
Note to management: investigate other crusts for a truly outstanding GF pizza.

Disappointing! Bland processed salads, cheap ingredients. The only good thing was that it’s quiet for such a busy place.

I had the Cobb salad and WOW it was big! Most of the portions are large and the price is perfect.

If you have celiac disease there pizza is great. One of the best crusts I have had in a long time.

Turns out they have gluten free pasta! You should have seen my jaw drop when the waitress told me! The ravioli was by far the best I have ever had! The serving sizes are massive and yet most of the meals are $ 8-​$ 9! A couple could share a dish and eat well for $ 9, which seems crazy, but true.

We came to Ala Roma really late on a Sunday night while traveling through on the express way. We were seated quickly with no problems. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and very helpful. The food came out piping hot and was quite good, exactly according to what it said on the menu. They also had lots of gluten free options and a kids menu too. Very reasonably priced! Overall a great restaurant.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service, great tasting food, with generous portions. Large assortment of Italian American food. My personal favorite is the supreme panzeroti. It’s huge and delicious.

Got the Rigatoni A La Vodka with shrimp as recommended by the bartender. Decent portion of shrimp. It was good. French Onion soup was SCALDING hot and didn’t cool down until I was finished with my entrée. Good portion of food.

Clean bar area, bruschetta was delicious! Ordered a pizza to go, it was crispy, just the right amount of sauce and yummy cheese!

We had the veil parmesan panini and the caprese salad with chicken. Food was good, decent selection of beers. Atmosphere was good. Wait staff is friendly and courteous.
The clam chowder was also good

What a great place! First impression, the happy hour must be great because the bar was packed when I arrived (½ hour left for happy hour). Neat and clean, nice bar area, and open restaurant area if you don’t want the bar.
I was hungry, but my server convinced me the small pizza was good, the medium too large, as I explained I was staying in a local hotel and would not want left overs. More to come on that.
Ordered the BBQ pizza, small. Was informed it would take about 20 min. Not a long wait, but glad my server told me. Pizza arrived and looked great! Hopefully, if it looks great, it’ll taste great. It was full of toppings, lots of everything, including chicken. I bit into the first slice and was surprised to find that the crust is quite thin and crispy, which is exactly how I like it! It just didn’t look like a crispy crust due to all the toppings. Anyway, the taste was just as good as the look. Amazing pizza. After that first slice I would highly recommend this place. Oh, and the recommendation by my server to go with the small? I still left 2 slices. How can a 10″ pizza be that big!
It came time to pay, and that’s where the surprise continued. I didn’t realize it was happy hour when I arrived and simply ordered a beer to go with my pizza. When the bill arrived, that beer was $ 1.50. Who does that anymore? Pizza, beer and tax was just a tad over 11 bucks. And I had leftovers! Yes, I tipped well!
So, wrapping it up… great place, very inviting atmosphere, nice server, great bbq pizza, a happy hour that’s a throw back to the good old days! I’ll definitely be going back to try other food they have as it all looked great.

Stayed at a hotel in the area that recommended Ala Roma for Pizza and what a fantastic choice it was!
The pizza was outstanding and twice as good the next day for breakfast. We also ordered some appetizers for the kids and I got a sandwich and a side salad. The wait for delivery was not long at all. The staff was extremely helpful and extremely friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to grab a bite to eat.
Dessert was excellent too÷

Trying to get the lay of the land, some friends and I decided to head to FDL for dinner one evening after a long week of working. Looking for a non chain place that served alcohol, we stumbled upon this place.
We shared the spinach and artichoke dip, which they serve with crostinis. Yum. I had their Stromboli Panzerotti & Greek Salad. Talk about huge portion sizes. All four of us had to get a to go box!
All there food was amazing and the drinks were great as well. If you are in the FDL area, I highly suggest checking them out!
