Worst service I’ve ever encountered. My food was not what I ordered and the manager had the worst attitude. I will never return

I was kind of disappointed. I rarely don’t not like restaurants, so my experience has to be really poor for me to consider a place«bad». I walked in, and the place was empty which usually isn’t a good sign. My group and I ordered and sat down. The guy at the counter was friendly. My friend ordered a jamaica and he said it tasted spoiled. When the food came out, I thought it looked okay. The food was barely warm. I ate one taco and a little bit of rice and beans and it was all bland. My friends weren’t big fans of the place either. The rest of the day I had a stomach ache, and I didn’t eat any other unappetizing food that day. So sad, this place looked so good online.

Been wanting to try this place, because TACOS. Wow… was I pleasantly surprised! Very friendly, prompt staff. I ordered a pick 2 plate. An Aztec tostada and chicken elote taco on corn tortilla. YUM. Both were amazing. Rice and beans were great as well. The tostada was super fresh and my fav. I will def be back very soon. I may try a salad next since the food was so fresh. Good job guys! Now I have a new regular lunch spot. :)

Pretty over priced for the size of the tacos. Tried 4 different kinds. Some are on the funky side. Was hoping for more. Wish they had more traditional Street tacos, instead of trying to recreate the taco wheel.

This place is alright if you literally want nothing on your tacos but meat. Pork was good, but not worth the $ 3.50 per taco. Better off going to fuzzys! Not sure what the hype is about…

This is delicious! We had breakfast there and it was the best Latin breakfast I’ve ever had! My husband has Huevo’s Rancheros and I had Ocho Stack! Both so good! Potatoes had corn and onions and peppers! The plantains were amazing! Totally wish there was one close to my house!

I ate the Azteca tostada and guacamole and enjoyed a Margarita. It’s obvious they strive to have the freshest ingredients possible(right down to the salsa). They definitely pull it off. They have a unique twist on TexMex and it works!

These are by far the best tacos in the Flowermound/Grapevine area! The chicken fajita tacos are the best and the Latin Love is full of awesome flavor! You have give it a shot. And make sure you get chips and queso. Which is also awesome.

The food is AMAZING! The flavor is like nothing I have ever had in Mexican food! You will not be disappointed in anything that you order! We ordered the queso, flautas with a side of rice and a Cubana torta! It was all so, so good! The prices are a little high — but the quality and service were super! Well worth it! It is a family friendly atmosphere(you will have to pull tables together — and share food!) — and also has a fun bar area for couples and singles to order and eat.

My mom is visiting from Minneapolis and had a hankering for Mexican food. I remembered seeing Taco Ocho so we thought we’d give it a try. We got there just after the lunch rush. We sat at the bar so we could thoroughly check out the menu instead of waiting in line. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a good run down on the options and gave us space to mull it over. We both decided to try the 2 item plate — taco and tostada. We both ordered the Azteca tostada. I ordered the beef Colorado taco and Mom got the ancho garlic shrimp taco. They started us out with some deliciously thin chips with a yummy smoked salsa that had just the right amount of heat. When our plates arrived we were impressed with the portions. Everything was fresh tasting and tasty and had lovely presentation. We didn’t order any drinks but their drink prices were very good. Now we’re thinking we have to go back before she heads home so we can try the world famous queso that we somehow missed. And a different taco or two. This could be my new favorite quick Mexican food place! Great tasting food, good prices, friendly staff and outdoor seating if you’re so inclined.

The brisket nschos ate delicious. Both the Agua de Jamaica(Hibiscus) and Horchata are very good. The tacos are awesome. The habanero salsa olis very spicy just the way I like it.

First time in, employees were super friendly and eager to help. After we ordered we got drinks and sat down, less than a minute later another friendly employee brought us our chips and guacamole. Very tasty! Got our food a few miniutes later, it was beautiful. Very good and unique! We were checked on several times and once by the owner, he was very nice and genuinely welcoming. A lady behind us did not like what she ordered and he immediately, and personally got her something else. Great experience! We will be back!

My husband and I enjoy seeing movies at the Flower Mound Moviehouse, but have become tired of their menu. Therefore we are always on the lookout for places to have dinner at beforehand that are close by which is how we found Taco Ocho. It’s an order at the counter place, but they do give you a number and have someone bring your food out which is cool. The employees were extremely kind and didn’t rush us while we browsed their menu. We both decided on the 2 taco plate that comes with your choice of any two tacos(excluding the ancho garlic shrimp or cabo fish which are a 50 cent upcharge) plus rice and beans. That also included a generous portion of chips and salsa per person, and the option of either flour or white corn tortillas. I like to get one veggie and one protein, so I chose the jalapeño pork and rico ocho tacos. The pork taco simply had cilantro and queso fresco and was very good. I would have preferred it to pack more of a punch in terms of heat, so I will ask for a side of salsa next time. The pork was a tad dry too so I think the addition of salsa could help take care of that as well. The rico ocho was a fun mix of black beans, fried plantains, potatoes, red onions, jicama, green & red cabbage, and cilantro. Like the pork it too was dry, but the flavors were all there and complimented each other nicely. Both of us loved the rice here as well as the queso fresco they sprinkle over the refried black beans. My husband got the jalapeño pork taco like I did, but also tried one called the Latin Love. That one had shredded beef, fried plantains, refried black beans, salsa verde, and cotija cheese. He said it was a little sweet for his taste but that he still enjoyed it. Overall, the amount of food we got for the price we paid was really great. They have some creative flavor combinations and I look forward to trying more. We will definitely stop by again before another movie. Hopefully it’s a later one though because going with the flow of traffic to get here can be somewhat of a pain.

Second time trying Taco Ocho and I am just not a fan. First off, the gentleman who took our order had an attitude of just order your food and wait. He seemed annoyed when we were asking questions(2 questions). I ended up ordering the beef fajita and chicken on corn tortillas. The food was mediocre. I didn’t really enjoy them and they were bland. We asked for sauces which helped a little but I was just not a fan. Two stars was for the only friendly staff giving us the sample sauces and asking if we needed anything else.

Richo Ocho taco was yum. And they have an optional vegan menu too. Fresh ingredients. Corner of 2499 and cross timers by market street grocery. Go vegan for your health, for the animals, for world hunger relief, and for the environment.

The staff being unfriendly and not even acknowledging us was a disappointment. The guy who rang us up must have had a bad day because he wasn’t very personable. I ordered the beef fajita taco and chicken on corn. The food was lukewarm, and I felt like the flavorings to both were bland. The lady gave us samples of hot sauces to put on our tacos, it helped with the flavoring a little bit. I don’t think I’ll come back, my experience overall was disappointing.

Lots of menu items to choose from that stray far enough away from standard Tex-Mex fare makes this place pretty interesting to try out. My wife and I tried the fish(both fried and grilled), jalapeño pork, and beef. Each combo came with fairly large portions of rice and refried black beans. The fish tacos were great, easily both of our favorites. I prefered the fried fish, it had a really nice flavor to it and wasn’t greasy at all. The chipotle cream sauce tastes great and compliments the fish nicely. The jalapeño pork was just ok, nothing too special and I didn’t taste any jalapeño flavor at all. The plain beef taco was pretty terrible. Granted it wasn’t the fajita meat or one of the other varieties, just plain old shredded beef. The flavor reminded us both of store bought tamales and it was swimming in grease. The layout of the restaurant was one of the biggest turn offs for me. The space seems large, but their tables were oddly arranged. They do have seating around the central bar area and a large picnic style table near the entrance. Fortunately we went when there weren’t too many people and we got a table to ourselves. The price didn’t seem too bad for what you get, the total for the two of us came to just over $ 20, but that didn’t include drinks. They do give you chips and salsa while you wait for your order too.

MUSTTRY! oh man do I love this place! Convenient location, quick service, comfortable environment, and seriously delicious. I’ve only tried the shredded chicken taco, the shredded beef taco(both on corn), black beans and rice and I love it. The service is awesome at this place. Service at any place is what determines your experience. Obviously the food makes a difference, but you won’t catch me returning to an establishment that has shoddy service. Great job Taco Ocho!

I love tacos and had high hopes for taco ocho. I was disappointed. The staff was friendly, but the food was sorely lacking. The fajita tacos were bland and the chicken was worse. The whole meal seemed like it was microwaved.

Great for Vegetarians! I love this place. The food is prepared the same way I would cook it. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, if not overly fast. The place is more laid back and social, the staff talks to the customers and to each other, but the food still gets out pretty fast. I’ve been there 5 – 7 times so far and the food has always gotten to me quickly enough and hot. As of this writing the place is still pretty new and they are still training to settle in an efficient staff IMHO. Like others have said, the best place to eat is at the bar. My wife and I have never sat at one of the tables, we always sit at the bar. The menu is quite different from what you see in the hoard of Tex-Mex places you would assume a place called Taco-Ocha would be part of. Other than the Tostado Americano which is a standard Tex-Mex black bean tostado, all of the other items I’ve tried are pretty unique. I particularly like the Yucatan Tostado which has a sauce with a strong poblano flavor and includes potatoes in its toppings. Check out the menu on line before you go otherwise you may spend a bit of time with the menu, everything on it is pretty unique and different, but the tastes and flavors are down home South American and familiar once you start eating. I am giving Taco-Ocho 5 stars not for 5 star food, its pretty much just good Tex-Mex level, but because of the uniqueness of its food and the overall experience. They are the best at what they do anywhere near Flower Mound.

I tried this place out today when I went out to close on my house. Food was great but important to know this is not Mexican food it is Latin/Caribbean food. So tacos are not your standard tacos or street tacos. The tacos I ate had very different flavored but good none the less. They were served with black beans and white rice. The portions were generous on the tacos which were 3.50 each but it was worth it. Don’t come in expecting cilantro y cebolla with lime and salsa instead be ready for something a little different and it will be and is all good. Sorry did not take pictures I was to busy eating.

One more try to see if the kinks got worked from visit about a month ago. Ordering and delivery of food was very quick on Friday nite. Still a bit odd to kind of guess that you order at the bar. Tried Beef Picadillo, Jalapeño Pork, Chicken Fajita, Chips and Queso. Best taco was Jalapeño Pork, excellent flavor. Picadillo was ok but too much like a fast food joint. Chicken Fajita had really good flavor and offered a nice portion size. Queso was tasty, had bits of corn, maybe cilantro, was not spicy. Many of chips were stale, standard chips from a bulk size bag. Still no utensils, lemons or limes, have to ask for either red, green or habenero salsas when food delivered. Habenero is hot, red and green as expected. So, is it better than a month ago? Yes, but only slightly, probably a .7 improvement, so rounded up, overall to 3 stars from 2 stars before, would not drive out of my way to eat here.

Prerequisite: the full menu is not on the board above the register; grab one from the holder by the door or on the counter up at the register. It’s a walk-in, order, take a number, find a spot, they bring your food to you place. This type of quasi-fast food is quite popular nowadays. The full menu on the board could help not make new patrons feel awkward when walking in for the first time; your eye is drawn to the board and the register attendant immediately says«the full menu is behind you or here on the counter.» Off-putting, I’d rather hear a «Welcome! Let me know if you have questions and order when you’re ready!» Or something like that. Tip: Sit at the bar for«full service» and a beer or an aqua fresca. Offerings: Chips, Salsa, Queso, Guacamole, Chicharrones, Tostadas(veggie/vegan), Tortas, Salads, Tacos(soft, corn and flour), Quesadillas, Taco/Tostada Plates, Flan, Cheesecake, Kids Meals and Breakfast(until 11am). Relatively good food. The Queso is good but thickens quickly as it cools. The salsa is good, but bland. Most of the food has been on the bland side for the most part except for the breakfast Ocho Stack I have had previously. The items marked with a red pepper on the menu are actually just the more flavorful items, they have not proven to be spicy as of yet. The tostadas are delicious! The combinations are pleasing, but, still, the ones not marked with a pepper need a little something; more seasoning? The seating arrangements are intimate on one side, and sparse on the other leaving a bar seating side against a wall and a giant picnic table at the front on one side, and a couple smaller picnic table style tables at the front on the other side along with a bunch of super cozy hope-you-know-your-neighbor two-tops. They are comfy, but very close together. Just sit outside. :) The service is hit and miss. In the three times I’ve been, one time was amazing service, one was takeout, the other, this time, was awkward. It’s very strange when an attendant/server avoids eye contact with a patron. I eventually had to say«excuse me» a little louder than I’d like to get one of their attention for a To Go container. This also drew attention from my all-too-close two-top neighbors; not my desired experience, but fixable. I think this place is good for brand new, it has great potential but still needs to work some kinks out. I’ll be back to modify the review as needed.

I was hoping this would be the end all Taco place, unfortunately it was just OK. Apparently it has only been opened a couple of weeks, but I thought I would give it a shot anyways. The first thing that was inconvenient, was that you had to order food from one location and then walk around to the bar if you wanted a beer, now don’t get me wrong they have an impressive beer list and some tasty looking cocktails, as seen on the drink menu at the registers where you order food. I wasn’t carrying cash so this made it inconvenient. For food I ordered a «taco plate» = 2 taco’s, refried black beans, cilantro lime rice and chips and salsa. and an extra taco, as the food cashier told me they were street tacos. They were not small street tacos they were full sized tacos. I had a Beef Colorado, Smoked Chicken Elote and a Jalapeño Pork Taco. None of them were outstanding they were just OK. Honestly I couldn’t tell you which was the Jalapeño pork and which was the Beef Colorado, neither was very spicy. I overheard the table next to me talking to the manager who had asked«how is everything» and they said«I expected it to be spicier», so I’m not the only one. Back to the«Taco Plate», the refried black beans were quite tasty and flavorful but the rice was weird, it had an unpleasant taste to it and I couldn’t figure it out. When the manager came by to ask me how everything was, I told him it was OK, he asked a probing question and I told him what i thought of the rice he said he had heard that before, again I’m not the only one. The chips were way more plentiful than the 2oz salsa cup provided, and not bad at all. All of this said I will go back, primarily because of the good beer list, I will sit at the bar so i only have to break my card out once. I will then try something else on the menu. The place is really nice as far as atmosphere.

Oh how I love Taco Ocho! When i worked in Richardson it was one of my favorite lunch spots, so I was understandably excited to see one was opening here in Flower Mound. I was hoping it was as good as i remember. I stopped in and got my good old reliable two taco plate, which comes with rice, beans and chips. Delicious! My favorite tacos are the Latin Lover, with spicy beef, and the Beef Colorado with spicy shredded beef. Fantastic. I have also tried the Pork taco and Spicy chicken, as well as both fajita meats. Unlike some other taco spots, they load you up with meat here so you get a nice fat taco with fresh toppings. Decent beer selection as well. There is no need to go to Fuzzys any more…
