This place has actually shut down and was bought out by new owners. Probably a good thing because the old place was horrible!!!

If you are here for breakfast — awesome I give it 4 stars. I was so glad to find a place in my neighborhood that we could walk to for breakfast. I was so impressed that when my daughter came down with my grandson, we walked over for lunch. NOT a good decision on my part. My daughter ordered the cheese steak sandwich(she said it was gross) and ate only two or three bites. I ordered grilled cheese, and it was soaked by the pickle juice on the plate — and when server went to put my sandwich down on the table, she knocked an entire glass of iced tea in my lap(it was freezing outside and we walked). I had soaking wet pants, and she asks if I want another iced tea? REALLY? And — the server was grumpy to begin with, didn’t smile, didn’t offer to take anything off the bill. I left $ 1 tip. Won’t be back unless we go for breakfast.

I really have trouble understanding how this place stays in business… the staff doesn’t show much interest in customer service at all! They are especially disdainful of families with children… which is strange considering how many are in the neighborhood who would love a friendly neighborhood deli! I think the quality of food is ok — acceptable but nothing special … you’ll get much higher quality deli fare at either the Kibutz Room or Famous Deli.

Does chicken soup qualify as such if there’s not one shred of chicken in the bowl? My brother and I wondered this aloud as we swished the broth and noodles around to uncover the protein in question. Mine was missing; same for him. So we pushed them aside and waited for the sandwiches to arrive. The mounds of white meat in the chicken salad more than made up for the soup(on fresh marble rye no less.) Still, I couldn’t help comparing everything at Zeke’s to Famous Fourth Street, where bigger and better are one in the same. Especially when I glanced down at Zeke’s black and white cookie while paying at the counter and thought about the one at Famous that could serve a family of four. When it comes to Jewish delis, oversized baked goods will always win a battle.

The staff is friendly and consistent, food is always good. Food comes out high quality, and fast. Tons of regular customers, especially weekend breakfast time… What is not to like?
