If I could give zero stars I would based on service alone. First let me start by saying I didn’t even get a chance to taste the food because apparently we came too late to be served. Mind you, I called at 3 and asked what’s the latest time that we could be seated and the person who answered repeatedly told me they’re open until 4. I then asked okay so you seat until 4 and she again repeated we are open until 4 so I asked again so we can be seated until 4 because we are coming from northeast, she again repeated we are open until 4. So my mother and I then drove to south philly from northeast just to eat at this establishment only to be turned away. We got there at 3:42 and would’ve been there earlier if parking was more convenient. This experience alone is enough to make me never go back to actually eat. Horrible service.

Our server this time was Cindy and she was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and all around fantastic. My friend was visiting from Manhattan and was raving about how Philadelphia has its own unique culture and feel to it. Didnt hurt that we took her to Porto for brunch for some of the best South Philly has to offer.

Porto I’m in love; this is my new Sunday spot. Staff is the perfect amount of friendly. Décor is bright, charming, and inviting. But oh my gerrrd the foods. The Porto Special w/house made periogies chased those cloudy blues away.

Pros: super friendly staff, interesting items on the menu, dinosaurs. Cons: the music was deafening, which is guaranteed a to keep anyone with a hangover away, no decaf, the food was overwhelmingly salty. Based on the menu alone, I’ll probably visit again, but would-be diners should be aware of the st content.

Yum yum yum… Went here for Sunday brunch. Ordered their special… Candied apples, walnuts and cranberries in my pancake batter… What a combination. Perfectly goes well together. My pancakes were super super fresh…

I came here for a graduation celebration and we had a good crowd. They definitely accommodated us pretty well and are very family friendly. My baby nephew was with us and they had a high chair, toys and books for him to keep himself busy and the staff was so great with him as well! The food was great and the staff of was very attentive and was able to handle a big crowd really well! You get HUGE portions and they give you four different hot sauces to try if you dare! I got a omelette and ate myself stuffed! Everyone in my party really enjoyed the brunch and had a great time! I only wish the restaurant was a bit bigger, they have outdoor seating but the inside is very small. I guess that’s not really in their control but it would definitely be nice if it was a bit bigger!

A number of the finest food I Have ever had, as well as a great staff. I could not be more excited to go back again and again to try everything on the menu. The coffee is tasty also. I tremendously recommend it. Plus, it is BYOB.

This place is amazing. Brunch all day, friendly staff, great food, fair prices, great music, fun trivia cards at the tables, and delicious homemade(I think) hot sauces. I got the«yo cuz» which is a gigantic fried chicken on a waffle sandwich with some crazy bacon syrup. It tastes great and fed me for two meals. My fiancé got a veggie omelette that was huge & delicious. The hot sauces are really good, packed with plenty of flavor & heat. The only negative thing I can think of is that there isn’t a lot of room inside, but there are plenty of outside tables if it gets too crowded.

I love you, Porto. This place is steps from my sister’s apartment, so whenever we visit Philly we make a point to come. The brunch is absolutely delicious. I’ve had the Yo Cuz(fried chicken on a cheddar waffle) and the eggs benedict which are delicious. Best of all, their fruit bowl is the TRUTH. Apples/pears, tons of berries, and banana. No melon bullshit. The spot is super small but the food can’t be beat.

After stopping in here for brunch this weekend, I am kicking myself for not making it sooner. Yes, it is super small in here, and really quirky. But, the service was perfectly helpful without being disingenuous and the food was SO good. You can tell that it is all made to order, and it came out super fast too. It was really ideal to come with just a party of two, and we only had to wait maybe 5 minutes. I could definitely see it getting really crowded though, and I’m glad we stopped by at the later end of prime brunch hours. The décor is really quirky, with plastic animal figurines on the tables and various board games. The coffee was delicious and served in big mugs. I also have a soft spot for mismatched dishes, and it was really perfect in this setting. Sadly, they were out of The Black Dawg, but we were able to get the Porto special, which was the best pierogis I have ever had, served with eggs and kielbasa. We also got the tofu scramble, which was good, but definitely not as perfect as the special. The chocolate chip pancake that we split, however, was ridiculously good. As others have stated, they also have four homemade hot sauces. I absolutely love when places make their own hot sauces, and these were nice and spicy. I wish they had been made with different peppers, as opposed to most of them being variant of habanero, but that’s just being picky. Regardless, my dreams have been filled with pierogis and pancakes since this weekend, and I might just have to come back again next Sunday!

Porto is my favorite brunch place in Philly, hands down. Great coffee, food, and service every time I’ve been there. All of the servers are friendly, fast, and attentive. I feel like I’m eating at home with close friends and family. Also their homemade hot sauces are the bomb! The orange carrot habanero hot sauce is my absolute favorite. It’s pairs amazingly with their omelettes and home fries. I also love that they have colorful plates and mugs, and their water cups are mason jars. Overall, Porto is an amazing place. Everything I’ve ever ordered including their specials have left me full and very satisfied. I’m always happy to go back there.

Breakfast here was amazing. Firstly, it’s good thing we arrived around 9:30am on Saturday which was the perfect time to go because at 10 am the six tables were full. The staff there are all so friendly, cheerful, and hilarious. We were welcomed and seated right away. The tables are perfectly suited for children– we were greeted with small figurines and trivia cards at the table– good for adults too! The menu is extensive, and the additional specials make the decision to choose one item even more difficult. We went with a sweet dish and a savory dish. I had the chicken and waffles. This dish was HUGE! It came with fries and a side salad. While I was impressed with the quantity, the flavor could have been better. The chicken tasted a little stale, almost as if the oil it was fried in is old. However, the ambiance and other positive attributes made up for this small detail, and I still give Porto a 5. As an added note, the staff are extremely attentive and kind to customers. Not only that, but an elderly gentleman had apparently fallen off of his bike on the trolley tracks across the street from the restaurant. He wasn’t a customer, nonetheless one of the staff members went outside to check on the gentleman to make sure he was okay! They are kind not just to customers, but everyone. Good people over all. I’m not sure if Porto is byo, but if they are there is a Wine and Spirits right across the street in case if you want some mimosas. They serve OJ by the small and large pitcher. Parking near by was not difficult at all. Porto is great, definitely worth a visit. They are of the same caliber as, if not better than, Sabrinas and Green Eggs.

I have to lower my rating of this place slightly. You get what you pay for in terms of quality. Ordered the Yo Cuz again, but it wasn’t as good as the first time and the portions are huge. I ended up eating half of my meal. The waffle is more of a yellow cake texture/taste. The chicken is pounded thinly and breading is flavorless. Fries are really good though! Wifey ordered an omelet and she couldn’t finish her meal dispute her large appetite. We forgot this place is BYOB, but luckily there’s a wine and spirits right next door. Good price — good portions; meal is just fine.

Today was such a beautiful day for brunch. Sat outside and was immediately asked what would I like to drink. Service is attentive(they continuously refill your water and coffee, they bring you napkins with your meal, and aren’t too overbearing) The food was amazing! Such big portions for reasonable prices. I ordered the verde(veggie) omelette and it was so huge i saved the rest for dinner. As you’re probably well aware the sauces are what they’re known for. 4 options ranging from mild to hot as hell! Lol As with some brunch establishments they want to: sit –serve you– have you pay — and leave. Porto didn’t make us feel rushed and i thank them for that!

Wow, this place is cozy. However, don’t let the tiny size fool you. They bring it when it comes to brunch! While they had a solid selection of specials, we decided to go for a pair of regular menu options: the Yo’ Cuz Chicken Sandwich and the Virgin Mary Falafel Tacos. While we waited for our mains, our waitress dropped off 4 hot sauces for us to test. I tried a touch of them all, but felt I could truly handle the 1st2. It didn’t really take long for our food to arrive after ordering, but the waitress’ friendly banter kept us from noticing the time anyways. The tacos platter included three tacos and chips. The tacos were very unique, with cucumber, feta, and beats to go with the falafel on wheat soft shells. A little dry at times, judge the overall taste by the fat we didn’t leave any bit on the plate. The chicken sandwich had waffles(with bacon pieces inside of the waffle) in place of bread and this killer syrup. It came with standard fries and was huge. Don’t judge the quality by the fact we decided to box up about half of it. Porto offered an affordable dining experience with good quality and service. They accept credit(everything but Discover and Amex). They will run out of specials if you get there too late and I could see it getting busy during prime time given its size. In short, make it a brunch stop to test for yourself!

This kitchenette in the heart of South Philly can catch your eye. Porto claims to be Portuguese, however for the most part they serve standard New American Breakfast foods and Sandwiches. With my best lady friend Gia we headed to Porto. Upon driving up we noticed a very nice sign, and were excited to dine in one of the more eclectic breakfast places of the city. We arrived just past ten to be seated immediately. Generally I’d suggest to come earlier as the place got busy as we ate. Seating is limited. Service was appropriate, our coffees were constantly filled, and there is a friendly vibe here. The décor on the inside is homey and they keep it clean. Finally the options on the menu are just the right amount. I can recommend the chicken and waffles. The portion was hella huge and tasty. The waffle batter as well as the chicken breading can use a bit of polishing, but the fries, and presentation were spot on. The prices were also appropraite, and the hot sauces are tasty and colorful.

I had wanted to try Porto for sometime now and my daughter and myself went there on a recent frigid Sunday afternoon. Portuguese, Breakfast, Brunch, and Coffee all sounded good to us. Porto is small; I counted seats for 12 people. It was cold, abnormally cold and Porto did their best to make a drafty restaurant more comfortable. They have space heaters and even offered fleece blankets. Our waitress was great, pleasant, informative and cheerful. We didn’t have to wait for a table either. We came around 1:00PM. The menu looked great, a nice variety of lunch, breakfast and a few Portuguese options. We went for two specials, the Little Frenchie and the Persimmons, Brownie Pancakes. The Little Frenchie sandwich was huge and fantastic. It could easily be shared by two people. It had roasted pork, and some seasoned, marinated steak that was very tender. The toasted bread and cheese were also really nice and the fries were delicious. This was a really good dish. The pancakes were very good and not that sweet, which we liked. Porto’s has 4 different hot sauces to accompany their food. Our server explained each one in detail. These were also very good! Porto serves La Colombe coffee. Our meal with the two dishes and 2 coffees was around $ 30.00 with tax. Porto is a nice place with great food. I will definitely return to] explore some more of their menu and try the Portuguese options. I think I may wait until the weather is a bit warmer though and when Porto does not need to give out blankets to their customers.
