This was a great find in Philly. The ambiance is great, hard to believe it’s in the middle. of a neighborhood. I loved the food, prices are reasonable. The coffee was excellent. I’ll be back if I’m in the area.

I’ve been here about 5 times this month. Food is consistently great. 4 stars and not 5 because you get two servers not one, so you get interrupted and asked«you good?» by two different people less than a minute apart not that it’s a necessarily bad thing you would just figure they have some type of system with tables. The servers don’t really seem to care about if you’re enjoying your meal or your time there they just want to take your order and drop off the check. Some servers wear see-through leggings so I can get a great view of their thongs and lower back tattoos. The manager has stopped by the table on about 3⁄5 of our visits and he seems really nice and they’re good at clearing plates off the table after you’re done. The bill runs about $ 50 for me and my fiancé with both of us ordering coffee, French toast and a side each.

Since when does Green Eggs blast rap music, serve BURNT toast, and drench their potatoes in oil then serve them barely cooked?! I’ve been here so many times but not in recent months and I will NEVER be back. The manager walked right by the table looked at the burnt toast and just kept walking. Awesome.

My dad and I went here for brunch. What a great place! It was very busy, so we sat at the counter. The BEST coffee ever! And free refills! Very nice staff. Extensive brunch and lunch menu, plus specials. I ordered the lox benedict with home fried potatoes. It was so delicious! The portions are huge, so you are going to have to take some of it home with you. I saw some girls next to me order the skillet dishes. They looked amazing. Also I saw the pancakes, and they looked great too. They were square. Great place. We’ll definitely be back!

AMAZINGPLACE!!! Came here totally by chance for brunch and would definitely make the drive back to PA just for this place. 1) The vibe was great. Staff was super nice and the atmosphere was perfect for brunch. 2) Selection of food was wide. We got the red velvet pancakes(YOUMUSTSHARETHISWITHSOMEONE B/C ITSTOOBIGTOEAT) and the chicken and waffles. Everything was truly amazing. If we had a bigger stomach we would totally eat it all but we had to take it to go. 3) Coffee was AMAZINGGGGGGG!!! Had the coconut bonbon(?) and a caramel macchiato with sea salt I believe. Everything was to die for. Hands down for this place.

Oh so good. Came here with a little over an hour to spare before heading back to BK and what a great experience. I’m returning very soon. The service was very pleasant from the host to the waitress. The pricing was reasonable especially when you consider the large portions. The menu seems to be ever changing but at a given moment semi-limited. The things they do have on it though are very unique and interesting so you’re likely just picky if you can’t find something. My friend and I split the chocolate french toast with a Canadian bacon side and skillet crab mac n’ cheese. We still have a little leftover so brought it home for a medium snack/light meal. Both meals were awesome. I don’t love chocolate but this was goooood. It had crispy crunchy chocolate bits, chocolate sauce and filled with chocolate and fresh whipped cream. The serving of mac n cheese was almost laughable since it’s just like a bucket of carbs. The crab in it was really good and plentiful. Cash only but ATM is right there. I got some drink which I forgot but I remember it being tasty. Maybe a mango lemonade. Yum.

Nice menu, good food, friendly staff… But why oh Why is it so expensive for a Cash only place? Thats the only negative to this place. Its mainly breakfast/brunch items of crying out loud. Its not fine dining. If not for the price I would actually recommend this place to others to try more often.

Great brunch spot in south philly. Expect long wait(30 – 45 min) if you are going to go on a weekend especially with a big group! There is a lot of room for people to wait inside, and while you are waiting you can order one of their delicious coffees and lattes! There’s also nice comfy couches that you can snatch. The food is amazing. Big portions, and tons of variety. Tip: it’s byob(yay mimosas!) and cash only! There is an ATM inside that charges you $ 0.99 per transaction.

I am constantly passing by this café on my way to Passayunk, and I have vowed to visit on more than one occasion. However, the line if often out the door and the location is small, which can result in long waits. I am not a morning person, so any wait over 20 minutes for my coffee tends to make me testy. My SO and I did finally visit on the morning after a major snowstorm and even then, there was still a small wait of about 10 mins. Its a quaint little café with a nice(if small) sitting room. Its set up for a more intimate experience with your guests, so the wait for food to arrive wasn’t expressly noticeable. More importantly, the Short Ribs Benedict allowed me to scratch my Benedict fetish in a way I’m not used to. Very delicious and well-prepared. The food here tends to be on the pricey side. I wouldn’t consider it as much of a negative due to the amount of food you receive for the price, but the drinks(especially the specialty lattes) can send the price into a higher zone than I’m comfortable paying for breakfast. Luckily I’m a coffee purist, which is just fine here… a normal coffee is inexpensive yet slightly above average. Be prepared to wait a bit, and also for a caloric overload. Especially when getting some of the more signature dishes like the red velvet pancakes(Excellent) and the Crème Brule French Toast(Beyond Excellent). Overall, worth a visit over any standard diner, but the the small negatives prevents it from being a regular affair

We arrived just in time(10am) before the brunch crowd arrived! As we were leaving about 11am there were about 15⁄20 people waiting. This place is very popular. The menu had a great mix of savory and sweets! Portion sizes were huge! The coffee is great and not too strong! It was tough to decide what to order between the Mexican Benedict, chicken and waffle Benedict or one of the skillets. I chose the shrimp and grits skillet! It had great flavor and a kick too! My partner got the chicken and waffle. It was not all the flavorful. The chicken wasn’t anything special. The potatoes on the side weren’t anything special. He definitely had entrée envy!

There are so many amazing brunch places in Philly that it’s challenging to try them all. Green Eggs is one we can permanently cross off the list. We came in with high expectations and left feeling like gluttonous pigs, and not in a satisfied way. The space is great, things were clean, and the service was friendly. They take the team approach for service, which I normally like, but being asked if it was our first time, if we’d like water, and would we like to order three times by three different people over three minutes time span was a bit strange. My first thought on the menu was, «Hmm, seems a bit pricy even by fancy brunch standards.» We ordered the Mexican Breakfast and the Red Velvet Pancakes. The Mexican Breakfast was fine, but nothing special. It reminded me of bagged coleslaw mix sautéed with some peppers and onions with two slightly greasy corn cakes and three eggs on top… finished off with some bland cream that was supposed to be avocado. It needed salt, pepper and hot sauce. Disappointing for a $ 14 price tag. The red velvet pancakes seemed like a joke at first. A massive platter of red cake that had to weigh at least 2 – 3 pounds. I’ve never seen anything like it. Unfortunately, it was bland, heavy, and lacking the promised strawberries. When you serve a three pound pancake dish, it would be nice to have more than four slices of strawberries. There are far better options for brunch at much more reasonable prices in close proximity.

In a city full of cool brunch spots, Green Eggs stands apart with a very inventive menu. I enjoyed tropical french toast which was more of a dessert type situation. There are lots of other breakfast dishes that look inventive and delicious that I’m looking forward to trying. The only reason I’m not giving five starts is the scrapple. I’m used to my scrapple being decimated into a delicious fried unidentifiable mush. Ignorance is bliss type of thing. But Green Eggs scrapple is not mushed nearly enough for my liking. I was able to identify numerous types of connective tissue from the inside of my scrapple, which made me want to vomit. I didn’t eat any and haven’t eaten any since from anywhere else. Despite this horror show I’ll definitely go back for more dessert breakfast hybrids.

So it’s Saturday morning and my Fiancée would like to go out for breakfast and I had a craving for pancakes. Fiancée says, Green Eggs? I say no, then had a thought. Fiancée says I know who has great pancakes. I say stop… I do too and i’m thinking the same thing, Cantina? yes, lets go. Well, we take the walk and find they aren’t open ’till 10 am, it was 9:30 am. I sigh and knowing Green Eggs is good, i’m still not a fan do to the treatment I got a few years ago. I also don’t like their philosophy about«if the food comes out the way intended, it can’t be returned» otherwise you can send it back but will still have to pay for it. I reluctantly take the walk to Green Eggs. Surprisingly we were there early enough for it to be a 10 minute wait but even better, there were open spots at the bar and we sat. My fiancée orders the vegan ginger snap french toast and I get the Lone star benedict. Food comes out in a timely manner. We also order the coffee which was well made and is La Colombe coffee. The french toast was overwhelming a lot and really tasty, not overly sweet. The Lone Star with eggs benedict on toasted brioche and steak strips was really good and flavorful, It’s a special that needs to be an everyday choice. I give this place 3 stars due to the treatment I received the first time and their written philosophy that is placed on every table. To me it says two things. #1 They take pride in their food and are so confident you will like it that if it comes out they way they intend it to, it will not be replaced and you have to still pay for it. #2 It says to me they do not care about customer service. If something isn’t to your liking I believe it should be fixed to please the costumer, without the costumer you don’t have a business. Not everyone is going to be satisfied and it puts a bad taste in their mouth that the person is forced to eat it or pay for that meal plus another towards something they like. I can’t imagine how many people have been through this. Yes the food is good, but will always be a back-up, not a priority or a first choice for me and still to this day, I do not nor ever will recommend this place verbally.

For atliens this is a 2 thumbs up with their cash only policy. It’s also a local chain with two other locations and a neighborhood clientele. This is my only time and it didn’t leave me wanting more. Now I made the mistake of ordering shrimp and grits from an East Coast restaurant. Now all over the east coast there seems to be a renaissance of sorts of southern food… bourbon with the dotted line next to a biscuit, bacon ham mac and cheese, bbq. Unfortunately most of it is not done well. Green egg proves my point. Listen shrimp and grits with a tomato sauce my East Coast friends is not shrimp and grits. That’s jambalaya. Shrimp and grits is creamy. Its not hard to do. cream butter salt pepper. Tomatoes are not in shrimp and grits. This location has a lot of two seater tables so if you have more than two people in your party be prepared to wait on the weekends at least. We waited a solid hour. The biscuits and gravy were unremarkable.

Yum! You can tell this place is delicious because it’s always crazy crowded and there’s a long wait. I had the eggs benedict with the short rib and the portion size was humongous. I could barely finish one of the eggs. It was built on top of a cheddar hash brown, which was an awesome touch. One of my brunch companions had the eggs benedict that came with lox and the other two each ordered the shrimp & grits. Everything was delicious. The staff aren’t that friendly, but they’re so busy, they don’t have too much time to chat up the tables. However, the food comes out quickly and they’re rather accommodating, which is more important to me anyway.

Absolutely loved Green Eggs Café. I had the Mexican Breakfast which was delicious. The avocado crème drizzled on top of the homemade chorizo, peppers, onions, corn, and corn cake was incredible. My boyfriend had a special, the Philly Benedict. Pretzel bun, pork roll, poached eggs, cheese sauce. It was Philadelphia on a plate. La Colombe coffee(pricey at 3 bucks for a cup) was a great surprise. It is free refills though, so if you are having more than one cup, the price is great. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.
