Team dinner. We had 12 people. Very good dining experience. Calamari, mozzarella and brussel spouts appetizers were all really good. Calamari was the best. Pizza is nice. The Pietro’s special was delicious. Did the short rib and risotto for dinner. Short rib was very good. Tender, good flavor, not fatty. The risotto fell short. Lacked flavor and had too many chunks of crunchy diced onion. Very good overall experience.

I’ve been here 3 times — always with my work colleagues for a group lunch. The pizzas are really delicious! The service is great too. Not sure about pricing because I’ve never had to pay: D

Wow. Fried calamari was bland. Tried two pies both were gross. 2 glasses of wine. 80 bucks. So disappointed– it was gross. Don’t come here. Go to Gennaros or Pizzeria Stella or… anywhere else.

I’ve been to Pietro’s a number of times over the years. I’ve consistently gotten good food and service, and the prices are fairly reasonable considering the neighborhood. The service was especially good on my most recent visit, when the waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive, making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves. I’ve found that Pietro’s is a particularly good spot when dining with a group whose visiting the area, is going to a show on Broad Street, etc. Picky eaters, vegetarians, etc. can all find something to eat and the food is still appealing to the more adventurous. The pizza is good, but they have a full menu of excellent entrees, too. It’s a nice enough restaurant to make you feel like you went out somewhere but not fancy where it makes people feel up tight. The noise level is at the point where you won’t feel bad if the group is a little noisy but where you can still hear well enough to follow a conversation. It’s a solid restaurant for other occasions, but I particularly recommend it for those trying to find a place to eat during group outings.

Interesting! If you go by the 3 star review and fairly empty seating on a Sunday night, one would think that this restaurant is mediocre. But come here on a Friday night, and it is jam packed out the door. It’s not my favorite restaurant, but I’m a fan. Honestly, the prices here are pretty typical of a City restaurant. This is similar to Nomad restaurant, which serves artisan pizzas in Philadelphia. I split the medium pizza and pasta with a friend. We were stuffed at $ 28 bucks plus a bottle of house wine b/w the two of us. I even took the leftover pasta home. As far as the menu, I’m not sure if anything other than the pasta and pizza are good here. Can’t go wrong with Rigatoni alla Vodka pasta and Pietros pizza. Get that and let me know if you agree :)

Service was good, but lie found a bug in my salad a few bites in. Lost my appetite after that and got charged for it.

I rarely have bad Italian food; you’d have to be really bad to mess up spaghetti & meatballs, for instance. Pietro’s was quite good; I also recommend the risotto balls.

My 4 friends and I came to Pietro’s for dinner the day before Memorial Day. We had spontaneously decided to go to Pietro’s therefore we had no reservations or anything. Let me just say first, the hostesses were absolutely wonderful. They were kind and kept us up to date on how much longer we would have to wait until our table was ready(took 1.5 hours but worth it). We were starving, so as soon as we sat down we asked for bread. The bread was SOWARM and delicious. Honestly, we would’ve made a meal out of bread and oil if we could have. Anyways, we ordered with our eyes and stomachs and ordered a large pie of margherita pizza, veggie pizza, and a family plate of pasta. By the end of the first pizza, we were forcing ourselves to eat more because we realized maybe… just maybe we order a little too much especially with all the bread we just ate. The place was dimly lit and the space was small but really can’t ask for much. The best city restaurants happen to be the ones that have no space apparently. Pietro’s was pricey but only because we ordered way more than we should have. Would definitely recommend coming here at least once!

We ordered a bunch of small plates during Happy Hour(you have to sit at the bar). The bruschetta, mozzarella cheese, and stuffed meatballs were amazing! We also ordered an Artisan pizza. It was fabulous. Their happy hour choices from drinks to food are awesome & the price is great. A must try & we will be back!

I have been here for years. The service and food here are hit or miss. Sometimes are good sometimes are bad. This time is the worst one yet. My niece asked for lemonade he gave her milk. We tried to tell our waiter but he ignored and walked away. My friend’s dad tried to order a yuengling light but they don’t have it. Our waiter doesn’t know that yuengling light does exist and he gave him an altitude like he is stupid or something. He came by twice and a check on the third time. We went and get dessert somewhere else since he wants us to leave so bad. He didn’t ask how’s the food or if we want more water. As I said before. This place is hit or miss so good luck

Not sure why I wasn’t crazy about the Barese pizza. First slice was definitely phenomenal but as I ate more and more, it became good but not sure if I would order it again or crave it in the future.

The pizza at this place was awesome! I got an appetizer of stuffed meatballs and they were great. I was told the mozzarella salad was great as well. I sat at the bar and had conversations with people on both sides of me, four all together, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had enough to take to the hotel for a late, midnight snack and it was still good. You may have a wait depending on what time you go, but it is worth it. I would go here again.

This is likely my favorite restaurant in Philly. I’ve never had a bad experience here, the food always tastes great, and the ambience fits many different types of situations — from lunch outings with coworkers to birthdays with family.(I’ve been to the South Street location in Olde City but I like the one on 17th and Walnut better because it feels more lively.) I come here fairly regularly and have tried a ton of stuff from their menu. My favorite appetizer is the calamari with sausage because the tomato sauce on top gives it a very nice taste, but I also love the regular deep fried calamari as well. Really, all the appetizers are great! I really like the Pietro’s Classic Pizza and the Insalata Tuna when I’m not super hungry but I usually come here for the pasta dishes. Speaking of which, the pasta entrees and house specials are phenomenal and why this place deserves a 5 star rating! After discovering the Villaggio a few years ago, I’ve rarely gotten anything else as a main dish. It comes with 3 pieces of extremely tender chicken on top of a bed of linguini, with peppers and sausage in a delicious zesty tomato wine cream sauce. I’d also recommend the Pasta Bolognese and the Rigatoni a la Vodka for other must-try pasta dishes. The pasta sauces are what make this place outstanding! This place is fairly inexpensive relative to the quality of the food you receive and the tastes of the dishes are very consistent each time. The service has never been bad and the waiters/waitresses have always been friendly. Oh! I almost forgot to mention the bread! Before the appetizer, each table gets a basket of freshly made bread which pretty much tastes like heaven when dipped in olive oil, pepper, crushed paper, and vinegar(upon request). If you come here and you’re not super hungry, just getting an appetizer and snacking on the bread will get you where you need to go.

I came to Pietro’s with a friend on a Monday evening at 6:15. I picked Pietro’s because 1. I’d never been and 2. I thought parking would be easy for my out-of-city friend. Wrong, if you’re driving wait to come here after 6:30 when street parking reopens after the evening rush. Though it wasn’t needed, we had a reservation and racked up some Open Table points. I had been craving a Lemon Chicken dish and my friend ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. I substituted the fettuccine with rigatoni, because that night I just really didn’t feel like twirling my pasta. The bread that came to the table was warm and fresh. There was only one roll for each of us, I probably could have asked for more but I didn’t want to seem like a pig. I really enjoyed my lemon chicken and rigatoni, my friend also liked her dish. The portions were huge and I looked forward to eating the rest for leftovers the next night. The server took our leftovers to box them in the back. I hate this practice, I’d rather box my food myself but I let them do it. When he brought it back, he hesitated a bit and confirmed I had the lemon chicken. I thought about the leftovers all day and when I opened my box the next night I found eggplant parm. Lesson learned, always check your to-go box! Solid meal. Service was fine, I would definitely come back when the craving arises.

Pietro’s used to be my go-to spot for a nice meal at a decent price. I’ve always loved their salads and pasta. It had been a while since my last meal there and I threw it out as an option for a weeknight dinner. My fiancé and I each ordered a glass of red wine. Wines by the glass are very limited with regards to selection and cost around $ 8-$ 11. My glass of cab was pretty bad… but not as bad as my fiancé’s sangiovese. We shared an arugula salad which was nice, but priced steeply at $ 11 for what was essentially a plate of arugula, sun dried tomatoes and some parmesan. Both of us ordered basic pasta entrees; cheese ravioli for him and pasta bolognese for me. I requested wheat fettuccine and the dish arrived with wheat penne. I sent it back and our server came over to tell me that the only wheat pasta available was the penne. I opted for plain fettuccine, instead. I know in the past the pasta was always made fresh but I think things have changed. The portion sizes are still pretty large, and I had plenty for lunch the following day. For sixty bucks plus tip, Pietro’s just isn’t cutting it. As we ate, we rattled off several other Italian restaurants with better food and pricing; places we’ll likely end up next time.

**This star rating is more of a 4.5** I’ve been exploring the center city/old city area for a good amount of years now and over the years, I’ve heard many many people claim that certain places had the best pizza in Philly. Through those trials, I’ve found some really good places, but I’ve never left a place saying«This is it!», until I found Pietro’s… Pietro’s is just pure heaven to me and though everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I will bet any amount of money that if their pizza is not the best you ever had, it will at least be one of the best that you ever had. The crust is always amazingly crunchy, the sauce is bold and flavorful, the sauce to cheese ratio is perfect, and the toppings are the freshest you’ll find. The rest of the menu is great as well. For starters, the portions are huge! Especially their salads. And to add to that, everything is very rich and dense. I swear, no matter what you get, every bite is a party in your mouth. Lol. Aside from the food, Pietro’s definitely looks like it’s waaay more expensive than it actually is. The inside is very classy and quite beautiful. It has a great overall ambiance. The front dining room has has amazing vaulted ceilings and elegant light fixtures/chandeliers. At the front of the dining area, near the entrance, there’s a wall of massive windows that can be fully opened during the warmer seasons. On the outside of those Windows, you’ll find the outdoor dining area. It’s not that big, but the sidewalk on Walnut St. is very wide. So if you do opt for outdoor dining, it’ll be quite comfortable and you won’t be interupted by all the people walking by. Adjacent from the front dining room is the bar area. It’s quite large and it’s fitted with a few tv’s. Behind the front dining room/bar area and up a few stairs is another huge dining area that has views of the partially exposed kitchen. They also have very stylish restrooms that are extremely clean. All in all, every time that I’ve been to Pietro’s, the service has been superb. And the same can be said about pretty much everything on the menu. My only complaint about Pietro’s is though it’s worth every penny, their pizza pies in particular can be a little pricey. I also dislike the fact that you cannot make any substitutions. But other than that, Pietro’s is a solid Italian restaurant and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. And lastly, for a place that has such great quality/authentic Italian food, they get extra points for since they deliver as well.

Let’s start at the beginning. I was greeted by the hostess and felt like this experience was going to be a favorable one for me. I told her I would just rather dine at the bar. When I sat down at the bar, it took about 5 — 7 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me. The younger brunette who was doing everything finally came over to make up for the other person who does not belong behind the bar(family or whatever she is). I ordered the Piccante pie. With so many other pizza places… I expected more. Disappointing sauce, crust and service. I may come back. I am always up for trying things twice.

After a long day of sight seeing, ordering pizza sounded perfect. Again seeking the advice of the concierge, he immediately said Pietro’s and wrote down the number. They offered many different specialty pizzas and meals. We decided in the Barese pizza which consisted of spicy sausage, pesto and basil. This pizza definitely hit the spot. The crust was perfect and the toppings all nicely complimented each other. We also wanted to try the risotto balls. There were fried stuffed with cheese and beef covered in marinara. I had higher hopes for these but they were just ok compared to the delicious pizza. I would definitely recommend their pizza to anyone. Also the delivery time was 20 minutes faster than quoted on the phone!

Went here a couple times for lunch and their pizza is amazing. The crust of the pizza is soft and chewy, perfectly baked! The sauce, oh the sauce. Bursting with flavor. I very well think it’s the best pizza sauce I’ve ever tasted. Prices are fair considering downtown. About $ 18 per pie. Additional for toppings. It’s a full on Italian restaurant, so don’t expect to just buy a slice. Various pasta dishes available as well as lunch specials till 3pm. I had a pasta dish a long time ago, but don’t remember which one. I remember the sauce being very good as well. Definitely give it a try!
