Was here about 6 months ago and the food is okay. Service is good. Seafood is all right, but not amazing: well-cooked and buttery, so it’s indulgent and yummy, but it tastes like all the flavour came from a package(+ butter). I wouldn’t really choose to come here again, because I prefer flavourful food that tastes fresh but I also wouldn’t put up too much of a fight if I was nearby and somebody else really wanted to go. About 2+ stars

The service here is a bit slow however the food is amazing. They give you a lot of food for the price you pay. It is very seasoned so if you dont like that then I would suggest coming to this place. The servers are very friendly & warm towards their customers.

Good food. The customer service could be better and the food is rather expensive. Nice atmosphere

3 stars for the standard seafood and buttered veggie fair. Less for the service and ambiance. The tables are rickety at best. My boyfriend and I had the worst pregnant server with an attitude. I feel bad because she was pregnant but maybe have a runner for her to help her get things requested like napkins and refills?! Anyway the crab legs are stand outs here. A lady approached a couple dining next to us and asked them to dance upstairs. We were not invited; was it our jeans? Certainly this establishment doesn’t require a better dress code. Skip it and get takeout. So many places are doing the seafood veggie combos.

This place was closed at 6:30 on a tuesday night despite Unilocal telling me they were open. Being an out of towner, I was relying on accurate info. I was so disappointed! I ended up eating next door at the german restaurant. Review to come.

I have tried this food several times end every time I have had a bad experience. I have friends who are not health conscious who continue to eat there but I can’t. The butter blend(not real butter) they give away with their dishes is no thick my arteries are hardening as I type. I cannot recommend this as a food source in Philadelphia

I used to order from this place when they had another location out in West Philly and now I’m so glad I don’t have to go as far anymore. Back then the food was amazing and it still is! Don’t go here on a date trying to be all cute because you WILL make a little mess… as you should. The crab legs are perfectly cooked and were the easiest crab legs I’ve ever had to open. The amount of flavor inside was mind bobbling, as were the Maryland crab cakes which were divine! The fried shrimp were hands down the best I’ve ever had! Each entrée is perfectly complimented by a potato, broccoli, and corn on the cob. All are equally well-seasoned and just as delicious as the protein. I enjoyed my food thoroughly, gladly settled my [fairly reasonable] bill, and waddled to the car a happy girl!

I tore up some Bottom of the Sea on a Sunday night. My expectations for this place were pretty low after walking in – unimpressive and basic décor, somewhat dirty bathroom, and understocked bar. But then… it was like our waiter was sent from heaven as he slid a HUGE plate of crab legs smothered in garlic, spices, and butter in front of me. As I cracked and plucked the succulent crab from its shell I felt like a kid on Christmas day opening presents to find all the goodies inside. The corn and brocoli were good too, but the crab was definitely the star! ATTENTIONALLOTHERSEAFOODRESTAURANTS: season your seafood even if it has a shell — it makes a difference! And I’m not just talking about sprinkling some Old Bay on top. My friend ordered the fried shrimp and crab cakes which were equally as good as the crab legs. In fact, it was the best fried shrimp I’ve ever had. We did not talk much during our meal… we both had a mutual understanding that this food was too good to waste it on some chatter. The $ 4 martini special was nice, however the martini glasses were small and the drinks were on the weaker side. Opted for beer for the next round… can never mess up beer or wine. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. However, I think he could tell that he did not need to check in on us often because he probably heard all the«Mmmmmms» and«Ooooooos» and«OMG this is so good» coming from our table. I have not been so satisfied with a seafood meal in a long time. At the end of my meal I was saying«Red Lobster Who?» since this restaurant put the Chain King of seafood to shame. You’re not going to find foofy-foofy seafood here, but you will find FLAVORFUL seafood and HUGE portions. If this place remodeled and paid a more attention to cleanliness it would be phenomenal, but then again maybe I should overlook this so I can always get a table quickly.

We walked into this place hungry on a Sunday afternoon when the Reef was closed. Everything’s reasonably priced, while the portions are unreasonably huge. We got the crab fries, which was basically 2 cups of flaked crab meat over a bowl of melted Velveeta served with steak fries, to start off. By the time we finished it, we were full. Then our entrees came out, and we took bites here and there — it was all tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Check this place out if you haven’t eaten in a few days and want some cheap seafood.

A nice place for straightforward fried seafood. The best deal in on the fried fish sandwiches. Order them with the fries and it’s a great, filling meal. From 11 to 2 there’s a good $ 10 lunch special, as well. I have also had the fried scallops, which I liked as well. The fried coating is not strongly seasoned: you taste the scallop. The sides include a soft baked potato, broccoli, and a corn on the cob. All of the sides were covered in butter, and the potato had quite a bit of garlic on it, too. There is a bar, but I was satisfied with my iced tea.(Oddly enough, the last time I was in they were out of Diet Coke.)

My boyfriend and i were looking for a place to have some seafood pasta combination. i don’t remember how we came to come here, probably a Unilocal search. I read the reviews about the excess amount of oil and butter, but didnt think too much of it, how bad could it really be right? Quite bad actually. My boyfriend wanted to order the crab fettucine, but I ordered it instead(he doesn’t care much for Alfredo saucey type pasta dishes-but wanted to try it since the waiter said its the most popular dish). Her ended up getting either fried tilapia or flounder, I cant remember which. The waiter was a nice guy, it just seemed to take forever for our food to come out. When the bread came out, I couldn’t believe how much oil or butter was on it, it was swimming in it. I had a bite, and that was enough for me, boyfriend liked it well enough though. Then my pasta dish came out, the portion was huge, at one glance i knew it was too much for me to eat as one meal. Overall it was ok, a decent amount of seafood in it, pasta was ok, the sauce was ok, but what makes it an ok dish vs. a good dish is the fact that it was also swimming in oil/butter. Same goes for the vegetables that came with my boyfriends meal, his fish was fried and seasoned well though. I honestly don’t think I would go back to this restaurant. Lots of oil and butter is not a bad thing, but when it dominates your plate, and thats all you tasted then there’s no point of paying money to eat some oil and butter.

but for real… amazing. Where else can your chef also be your waiter.(any adjustments to your order are sure to be right) Ordered: Turkey Chop: main course but ate as an appetizer for group of 4. Awesome. Fried Shrimp: Lightly coated and well seasoned. Fried Catfish: Just how it shold be done. Crab Fettucine: tender noodles, generous anount of crab All orders served with tender potatoes, garlic and butter broccoli and corn on the cob. Oh and don’t forget the Turkey Chop. If you want to taste fresh fried seafood the way Granna does it, go here. First.

Great seafood made southern style, so expect some spice, lots of garlic, lots of oil. My fiancée loved the crab cakes, I really like the lobster bisque. Entries are well prepared and presented. The potions are big, and the service is courteous. Expect oil and garlic everywhere. When talking about garlic bread, the waitress means: whole wheat bread drizzled with hot oil and sauteed chopped garlic. Prices are decent and base portions are well sized, for additional money you can add-on pretty much anything on the menu. Downside is that on Thursday night there was only one waitress and even with few customers you needed to get her attention for the small stuff like a refill of ice water. Otherwise she did a good job in making everyone feel good and helping with selections. I would recommend the place if you want to have a nice seafood meal on any weekday. Nothing fancy, work clothes — OK.
