I booked this room because my parents were visiting my boyfriends hometown! They loved the room and it was very easy to reserve! When I came in to check in, everything went smoothly and Dallas was our person to check us in, he was great and just friendly all around! Thank you guys, I will book ahead just in case we come back :)

On our last visit to Ferndale we booked a room at Francis Creek. The room was super cute and though the room heater took a bit to warm up, the little handheld heater they provided worked perfectly. And though the pipes squealed a bit, the shower was clean and the coverlet, sheets, blankets and towels smelled divine especially after being warmed up by the heater, whatever they washed it in was just wonderful. We paid five dollars extra to have a room with two beds(they were full up besides) and though there were only two of us the room could have slept 4 people or more with the roll away. There wasn’t a fridge, which encouraged us to eat out. The Redfront convince store in front is also open until 9(Late by Ferndale standards) so we could grab drinks or food if we needed, they also had utensils. Compared to hotels in the Bay Area, Francis Creek is a little low tech(one must actually call in to the hotel to make a reservation) however you actually reach a live person during business hours and can make a reservation on the spot. Which is more than I can say for some *cough* Ivanhoe *cough* which we discovered the hard way. We’ll be staying here again on our next trip. It’s a great little budget hotel.

While visiting a town that looks like you stepped back a century or more, the Francis Creek Inn adheres to this style. Our room felt like a luxury honeymoon suite for the price of a mid-level chain. Quiet and clean.

Stayed here for one night. Clean, comfortable, and large… but unfriendly and cold staff made it much less of a welcoming experience.

I reserved a room here by telephone. I spoke with Rocky. He took my credit card info and told me all the details. It seemed fine. I told him I would be driving up from San Francisco to see the Humboldt Redwoods with my sister and we would be arriving around 6pm the next day. The next day, around 2pm, I had a call from Rocky changing my reservation from room #3 to room #4. This was fine, it didn’t mean anything to me since I had never been there. Later that day around 5pm I had a missed call from the same telephone number. At 6pm when we showed up, no one was there. I called the number and spoke to Rocky who said he was very busy that day and didn’t have a chance to clean the room from the guests who had left that morning. It was only 6pm and he was at home, which seems like there was actually plenty of time had he any intention of cleaning the room. He said he was very sorry and that there were plenty of places to stay in Fortuna, which is nearby. That is what we did. We stayed at the Super 8 in Fortuna.
