Cafe Main Street

We ate a wonderful brunch. The potato pancakes are the best I’ve ever had and the maple soaked bacon was so tasty. This place is a must if you’re in Ferndale

This place does breakfast right. Great ambiance… bright and modern, definitely fancier than most places in Ferndale. Very prompt and friendly service. Ordered the French toast; portabello, spinach and feta omelette, mashed potato cakes, and fresh squeezed orange juice. All of it was incredible. The potato cakes were something else. I’ve never seen these before. They were sort of like latkes, but better (than the ones I’ve had at least). if I could eat breakfast here every day, I would.

This place has wonderful home cooked, upscale food. I ordered the special and asked for gravy instead of eggs and put the gravy on their wonderful potato cakes. The gravy had a lot of sausage in it and was great. The bacon was so good. I wish it was crispy but I don’t think that’s possible since it has maple on it but the flavor was awesome!

Best scone I have had. The orange butter sounded like a good idea but we could not get it unstuck from the spoon or container. Potato pancakes were very good. The Latte was the worst I can remember having. Not sure what it was actually. Waitress did not seem happy to be at work. All in all, it was a very «yes and no» experience.
I was with great company so that made up for any other odd experiences.

I came back a couple times on this last trip and I rarely eat my words, but Café Main has made me a fan.
The sun didn’t make an appearance this breakfast and I (knowing the butter issue I had last time) ordered their biscuits and gravy with maple bacon, which was fantastic. This plus their chicken BLT for lunch really made for a day of wonderful food and service, since it was more prompt this visit.
I’ll came back if we make the trip again. Those biscuits were yummy!

Skip it and go somewhere else! I was very disappointed in the food, as was my husband. Too bad, the staff was friendly, but we will not be back.

Skip it and go elsewhere. The bacon tasted like it had been dipped in honey and didn’t taste like bacon. Potato cakes should be billed as grits gone wrong and the eggs runny even though the order was for over medium.
Maybe it was just an off day. Then again, if you like bacon that doesn’t taste like bacon etc. this is the place.

Good coffee, good oj, bad biscuits and gravy, no potatoes or fresh fruit. If you like plain over priced food this is ok spot.

So, to our surprise we found ourselves in Ferndale recently. If you’re reading this (and are not actually in Ferndale right now) you might be asking yourself, «where and what the hell is Ferndale?» I understand. If you must know, it’s an amazingly unique slice of Victorian Americana located just south of the town of Eureka.
If you are lucky enough to find yourself near Ferndale — make sure you actually go into Ferndale! While you’re driving toward it (through cow pastures and past tsunami warning signs) it may seem like it’s just too far off the main road (highway 101) for the trouble. Make sure you continue on to see it. You won’t be sorry.
Now, if you take my advice and actually make it into Ferndale, we highly recommend you stop in for breakfast at Café Main Street. There you will find (as we did) some wonderful food and great coffee served by extremely friendly and very helpful staff.
