Disappointed why did they close the restaurant? The food was delicious.

Horrible restaurant, the service is the worst. Shane the waiter cussed my wife and I out because we said the was not good. The rice was cold as well as everything else. The waiter actually said get the fuck out since we did not like the food. How rude my advice never go to this place. I wish I could give ZEROSTARS.

I went with my girl friend last Saturday we order biryani lik and sag paneer. Biryani was like boiled rice cooked in a curry and sag paneer tasted raw and service was just Evarage we didn’t enjoy much

Buffet not very good. Very little flavor. The rice pudding desert was very good though. The service is fine.

The service here was top notch! It’s definitely a smaller place but the food is really really good. We got our food fast and had plenty left over for the next day. The only thing that I’ll knock about the place is that it’s a little on the pricey side. If you have never tried Tandoori food then I would give this place a shot. It’s one of the few different styles in Fayetteville that’s not all steak places, Asian places, chain restaurants and fast food. One thing that I found a little weird and off putting was that nearly half the menu was blacked out with a sharpie like they didn’t have it anymore. They should make new menus with everything that is available.

I was hoping that this would be awesome. I love Indian food but it fell short. I was not impressed. The food wasn’t great and it was dirty. I will not return. My table was falling apart. The Buffett was not stock.

I was a bit disappointed during my last trip to Shalimar’s. Initially I almost left due to dirty menus and lengthy wait time for drinks, but stayed as sanitation grade was an A. These were small but important details for me in a dining experience. Cleanliness is one of my top priorities. I was glad I stayed because the food was delicious(calamari-different flavor from what I’ve had before, chicken tandoori and chicken tikki masala, naan-garlic and cheese-even better the second day). I’ll visit again.

Got a large To Go order. Everything was wrapped up so neatly and in a big box ready to go by the time I got there. Nothing missing. Order was correct. Great service. Gentleman carried the box out to the car for me too. Just finished eating. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely go back!!!

Been here twice and the food is pretty good. I haven’t personally been wowed yet by indian food so that’s why the 3 stars. I ate the buffet and was happy enough but nothing was memorable enough for me to have to return.

Food and service were great I would give a 4 or 5 stars but the price for lunch buffet was kind of weird. We had 7 people so we asked how much was the lunch buffet? At 1st the waiter said it was $ 12.99 then when we finished our lunch we went to pay it separately it went up to $ 14.99. He charged us $ 15.30 something we thought the service fee was included he said no. So I gave $ 3.00 for tips … Just not feeling right. We calculated the tax again again everything … It didn’t add up … A lunch cost almost $ 20 dollars no wondered their busy was slow. Great food, if u like Indian food and $ 20 dollars is ok with u then u should try it :-). I will go back again just not in a such rush lunch house to spend $ 20 dollars for lunch.

Just moved from Fayetteville, but this is one of the places my wife and I miss the most. I’ve probably been 30 or 40 times, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Their lunch buffet is great, but priced a little higher than what you’d find on Yadkin. I personally think their food is worth it, but this was usually the only criticism anyone had. I would recommend ordering from the menu, even at lunch, if you’re a huge fan of spicy food. I did this because the buffet options are generally geared towards the broader masses at the buffet, rather than the curry lovers who search for places like this. Also, give the mango lassi a try if you’re feeling adventurous. My wife loves it, and the dairy presence helps to neutralize some of the heat in chicken vindaloo.

Very good experience! The masalas are very flavorful & seasoned well. The lamb masala was perfectly tender & the service was outstanding.

One of two Indian restaurants in Fayetteville. This one is much larger and seems to always be busy. Our food took a while but was tasty. Half the menu seems to be «blacked out,» plus spicy isn’t terribly spicy. I prefer Bombay Bistro, the spice is on-point, and its smaller. You almost always see the owner and his wife(cook) around and chatting with customers.

After hearing wonderful things about Shalimar, I finally got to try it last week. I don’t know if I had set my expectations too high, but I was disappointed. The service was friendly and fast, the restaurant was clean, and the buffet was well stocked, but I don’t think I’ve ever had such bland Indian food before. I stopped by for the lunch buffet with my husband, and between the two of us, we tried just about everything — dal, curry chicken, tandoori chicken, paneer, chicken masala, etc. — and nothing was spicy. The only dish that was flavorful was one of the soups. As I mentioned, several friends have praised Shalimar, so I was surprised that the food was so bland. I’d like to think that maybe just the buffet is bland and the dinner menu is better. Frankly, though, I’m not sure if I want to try again.

Timing says upto 9:30. We reached at 9:05 after ordering on our way at 8:45. Still not let us sit even though we had 4 little kids and said we wont be ordering more food. Never had any inconsiderate restaurant when we reached well before closing time. Overpriced below par food. Naan undercooked and too thick. No roti available. Dal and paneer below par

Updating my review… went here recently for the lunch buffet while in the area. The staff was friendly, drinks and Naan came out quick… but all the selections on the buffet were so blan. It just did not have the spice or level of heat Indian food should have. I have had so much better and even at that restaurant I’ve had better. Maybe it is just the buffet food… not sure. Because they are not conveniently located for me, we probably will not be going out of our way for this place.

Looks ruff on the outside, but it’s a gem! Food is amazing! Lamb curries are delish. Get the buttered Naan bread and ask for the mango/orange smoothie. Great prices too. Awesome Indian food.

Friendly service and good food. Definitely worth a visit every once in awhile. The curry is delicious and the portions generous. If you order a side of naan, one order of curry will serve you and another perfectly. I tried the mango lassi which is a favorite of mine in Indian establishments. It was good but very dense. More dense than I’m use to but the only down fall was that I didn’t come close to finishing it. I would also say that their spice level is pretty true to their description. There’s nothing worse than ordering medium and all of a sudden you’re busting out into a sweat and your mouth is on fire. I would also say their mild spice isn’t dull at all. There’s still plenty of flavor and a very gentle spicy kick. I would say the highlight of this place is their service. Very attentive and welcoming.

Their food is AMAZING. I usually pick either the chicken tikka masala or the butter chicken, both are rich, with thick sauce and large chunks of chicken. An appetizer of either garlic naan or samosas pairs well. The naan is super garlic-y and slightly crispy at the ends. And the samosas are like awesome potato-y dumplings of yum. The gulab jamun, a sweet and cardamom-y dessert of fried dough in sugar syrup, is really satisfying for anyone’s sweet tooth. The buffet has an awesome variety of of food, from the aforementioned tikka masala, to fish, and vegetarian options. The staff are nice and attentive. Whenever I order take out, they make sure everything’s well sealed and leak-proof. The restaurant is clean, the parking lot is a little odd, but overall, I would definitely recommend coming here for indian food. Others have said that it is a little pricy but you really do get your money’s worth in food with healthy portions.

This place is wonderful! It smells amazing in there, so many wonderful aromas… The samosas are delicious, even my husband who is anti vegetarian things loves them. The sandwiches on naan are also delicious as is the tandoori chicken. We have also had the buffet several times, love all of the options. The only downside is it is a little dated, and the booths are uncomfortable, also a little pricey but the flavors outweigh those things. Service is great!
