Kyoto Fantasy Express

Ordered the Hibachi steak and chicken, the Hibachi steak and shrimp, and a side order. The cashier didn’t speak, just a blank stare. My daughter whom is a brunette found a blonde hair on her shrimp mid meal. The food was room temperature, rice was overlooked. Neither of us could finish eating. Just bad energy all the way around. My daughter went to the bathroom, came out to tell me there was no hand soap. Told the workers. Again, more blank stares and a bored «ok» from a blonde haired worker with no hair net. Waited because I needed to use the restroom, too. It was slow as we had an early dinner, so I Knocked on the men’s bathroom, walked in, no hand soap in there either. Frustrated, I left. Apparently hand washing is not important at this establishment, nor is hot food and hair nets. I will never eat here again. The location on Raeford Road was much better.

Food was average but the steak they had was super delicious! The place was clean & the workers weren’t rude at all. in fact they came out with our food & served it to us. The only downside was they had no siracha instead, they had this hot sauce were it literally tastes like spicy ketchup?. The chicken was a bit overcooked & the shrimp was alrite. But if anything you must try their rare steak

I had this place for lunch today and I will never eat here again. The workers are rude, the place is dirty, and the service is bad. The food is not great at all. My rice tasted like dish soap and when I told the lady she got an attitude and would not give me my money back. I watched her run water on the spoon in the front sink and wipe it off with a used napkin. I asked her if that’s how they clean all the dishes, it was gross. That explains the soap taste. Smh I will never eat here again! I give them NO STARS!

The food here is disgusting! The worst asian food I’ve ever had. Mushy rice, soggy overcooked vegetables and unrecognizable meat. Just the smell of the food made me nauseous. The restaurant is also quite dirty. Save your money and save yourself from eating disgusting food.

If you have ever eaten Japanese food and liked it, then don’t bother going here. We stopped in for a quick lunch. We both ordered the Teriyaki Chicken. The chicken was all dark meat. The sauce was thick, salty, and overbearing. The zucchini and onions were just about all onions with 2 – 3 pieces of zucchini. This was just bad all around. We each had a bite of the food, agreed that it was inedible and went next door to Jersey Mikes and had subs if for no other reason than to clean our palates of the taste. If you have any ability to taste, stay away from here! yuck.

I remember going to this place YEARS ago around when it first opened when I was in high school. At the time maybe because I didn’t know any better I really liked it. Everybody was really going on the popularity of the restaurant Kyoto over on Yadkin.
Lately, when I go back on occasion I’ve found that the place has really gone downhill. The staff is the same as it’s always been pretty much — just getting by with a part time job at a dingy restaurant. But they used to have lots of little extra Japanese snacks and drinks which we all loved. Those seemed to be mostly gone too. The place is getting dirty and layout isn’t great. Worst of all the food has just become horrible and serving sizes tiny. All the while long the prices have just gone up. The chicken is low quality. Usually you know a place is «through» when they can’t even get chicken right anymore. In the past I’d have said it’s a must do but now I say try it once and move on if you’re not happy.

Went here for lunch and it was DIRTY. I should have just turned and walked out. The food was average at best.

okay… I came here like 2 years ago and I do not remember how it tasted. All I know is 2 years later I’m in town again and I wanted some Japanese rice bowl. I remember coming here and stuff so, it must have been decent if I don’t recall hating it right!!!
Well, I got the chicken and steak plate… It was not good, not good at all! Mall food in Los Angeles is 10x better then this place. I feel bad but dam this was bad food.
