The food here is really good and the servings are more than enough. But our past three experiences have been pretty bad. First we ordered 2 pizzas for take out. They put all the ingredients onto 1 pizza and I had to sit there and wait for them to fix my order. The next time we dined in. It took over an hour to get 2 burgers. Finally we got take out again, my wife showed up to the restaurant and the hottest did not have our order. She was not pleasant to deal with what so ever. I have recommended Joeys to many friends due to the taste of the food, but this is three times in a row now where the experience and service have been sub par. We will not be back.

I went with my sister and two rowdy little boys on a Saturday and it was packed but luckily I got a good parking spot and we only wanted about 10 mins for a table. The food wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t bad, I would rate it a 7 on a 10 point scale. I was definitely shocked with the portions OMG they were huge. The waitress was friendly and accommodating, she did forget my son’s chocolate milk(refill) but after a quick and loud reminder from my son as she passed our table it was brought out promptly(my son can be a demanding clientele). Overall the prices were fair, the service was nice enough and the food was good. Unfortunately my sister had high hopes which were not met, I on the other hand had none so I was pleased. I’m sure I won’t be coming back, we were in the area and wanted to try something new. Good Saturday night adventure.

The service here is pretty bad. We waited over a half hour for the waitress to come back and pick up our check. It’s obvious they don’t train their staff properly. Pizza is good, but the other dishes are just OK. We asked for bread and it was brought to us not cooked all the way, like it was rushed out. Also ordered their Thai chicken bites. They were supposed to be deep fried but obviously weren’t. They were over cooked and not edible.

Excellent place for Italian, an that’s coming from one that does not go out for it very often. This mozzarella burger an portabella mushroom is the best I ever had !

Overall, food was very good. I went last Friday around 5 p. m and the restaurant was already very busy. Took a seat at the bar and the waitress was very nice. I ordered a Blue Moon, Philly Cheese Steak and a side of french fries. Beer came quick but I waited a good 20 – 25 minutes for the Sandwich and fries which I thought was pretty long. First impressions: cheesesteak was huge! The bread appeared to be either baked on premise or is likely from a local bakery and was fresh. There was a healthy portion of the shaved ribeye and it was seasoned very well. The onions and peppers were either cut very small or overcooked because I couldn’t really see them. Overall the sandwich was very good. The french fries came out very hot and the portion size was bigger than what most restaurants would serve. The french fries were standard fare; however, the taste of the potatoes were overpowered by the taste of the frying oil. I suspect they use the same frier for their eggplant fries because I could definitely taste a hint of it. I will be back again.

Great for a night out, also used them for a post baptism luncheon for 30 people and they were amazing!

Listen… I love the guys TV show, and I get the draw here. But if this place is anything, it’s forgettable. Food was okay, portions were huge… service has always been ridiculously spotty. Ordered our food, got it in good time… and then were completely forgotten by the staff. Decent food can only offset so much bad service. Hire better people, train them properly… then maybe I’ll be back. Edit: I get it people, the big guy on TV isn’t associated with the restaurant. Maybe he should be though!

I’ve loved everything I’ve had here! The eggplant fries are incredible. I love the huge portions(perfect to take home for lunch the next day). The service has always been pretty good too.

3 stars for their stellar Buffalo Chicken Pizza but lost two stars because they’re extremely over priced. Totally understand that it’s one of their specialty or «gourmet» pizzas but I don’t think throwing chicken buffalo sauce and cheese on a SMALL pizza is worth $ 14-$ 15. Food is pretty mediocre for that of an Italian/pizza restaurant. Very, very similar to everything at Joe Pizza of Canton and Simsbury.

Normally i get a pizza pie or the eggplant with pasta. I always enjoy the food and it hits the spot. The eggplant varies with with spice on occasion and the sauce needed a kick, but It doesn’t take away from the experience or the satisfaction.

Over priced food and horrible takeout service. Plan on ordering 45 in advance. And even then don’t count on it being ready. With a billion people working there, they still aren’t fast. Just high school girls standing around looking lost. Not worth the time to wait for a freaking average pizza.

Joey Garlic’s is my favorite place to eat in Bristol. For as many times as I’ve eaten here, I can’t even bring myself to order anything but the Penne Vodka because it’s THAT good. I never leave disappointed, and we always leave full.

The food is great. The grinders and portions are a good size. But the Newington restaurant is much better. They have more breads to choose from and the staff is much nicer.

Every time you drive past this place its packed. So we came here after an afternoon wine tasting. Pretty big group that was dis jointed, we didn’t really know how many people were in our group until we arrived. They seated us as a group seemingly without an issue. Then things start to come unraveled. Our waiter didn’t want to write anything down until after he had forgotten it and that seemed to be the crux of the poor service. A round of drinks came with some missing selections and some unordered additions. We are used to being a big group so we ordered three pizzas and the eggplant fries. The fries fed the whole crew heartily. They were a very interesting dish, and executed well. Each of the pizzas was just okay. They came out hot and tasted fine, but nothing special. All in all I’m glad I got the chance to stop in, but no reason to go again.

UGH! Our pizza was brought out almost immediately after the Caesar salad. We sent the pizza back. Our waiter was put off. Never said.Sorry! He brought the pizza back not heated uniformly. Not a great dining experience. I also found out the Ice Tea comes in a box already made. REALLY!

Stopped in tonight with the wife for dinner. Place was packed for a Tuesday night, we opted to sit at a booth in the bar rather than wait 10 to 20 minutes for a table in the dining room. Bar was a bit loud, but not too excessive. My wife ordered a Chicken Parmesan dinner, I went with a small sausage & mushroom pizza. Felt my pizza was decent, slightly better than the take-out pizza we did a few months back. My wife thought her Chicken Parmesan was very average, the cheese on top was somewhat«leathery» in texture, not soft at all. She said she’s had worse Chicken Parmesan, but also better. With all the Italian selections about, doubt we’ll give Joey Garlic’s another try again. I was«wow’d» a few months back when we first went there, but that was because I had not eaten decent Italian fare in over a year because we had been living in the Deep South. After being back for a few months, I find Joey Garlic’s to be average compared to other Italian places.

Service was FANTASTIC, but the food left a whole lot to be desired. I got the eggplant sticks on a whim, which was a great idea because it was the only thing I liked. I ordered chicken Marsala, an Italian-American staple, and I just wasn’t impressed. The sauce was weakly-flavored. It had big thick pieces of bacon cooked with the sauce that completely over-powered it. I know bacon is a huge fad right now, but it literally ruined the dish for me. The whole meal for my husband, son and I, with appetizer and small dessert was $ 95 with a 20% tip. I would say it is grossly-overpriced food trying to be original, and forgetting that being *good* at Italian food is essential before evolving into something else.

The first time I went with friends, I had a good experience. That’s the only reason this gets 2 stars. The calamari was excellent & the eggplant fries were to die for. Moving on. Met friends for lunch last week. Sat in the bar area at a high top. Drinks were weak and overpriced, and all of our food was ice cold when we got it. Burger? Cold. Eggplant fries? Cold. Steamed mussels? Cold. Super disappointed.
