The only thing keeping me from a 5 star review is the service. Food was delicious. I had the seared tuna. Cooked to perfection, our dessert was the marscapone cheese cake. Light as air and yummy! But the waitress was less than attentive. Hope I get a different one when I come back

Checking out Apricots has been on our«to do list» for some time. So a visit for lunch was on today’s agenda. They had some fine outside seating with a nice river view but we wanted to check the inside of this place out. Inside we were seated promptly at a table of our choosing against a window that overlooked the outside seating. Not bad but… we noticed a bunch of flying insects around the window and the adjacent ceiling. That was a turnoff so we quickly moved from that table to a location that was away from the windows. If they opened a few windows my guess is that most of the insects would have flown out as it seemed like that was their very intention. To get out. Regardless… my wife orders lemon chicken and I order turkey chili to share and an order of fried calamari. The orders are brought out fairly quickly. The plates presented nicely but none of them had the wow factor taste we hoped for. The lemon chicken was very bland. The included vegetables were almost raw. My calamari was a dish full of «rings». No, nada(as in zero) «pieces» as I hoped for due to a fellow Unilocalers review. Very disappointing to say the least. The turkey chili was OK but had no pizzazz. We’ve had better. To sum it up… the insects turned us off and the food was nothing special. For the price of admission it should be much better. Too bad. Our visit to Apricots is now checked off our list… for good.

Such a disappointment. Ordered the Tuna with Asian vegetables. The tuna was not fresh, it was a frozen piece of fish with absolutely no flavor and the veggies were soupy and way too sweet. After sending back the tuna, I ordered the chop salad with chicken. How can you possibly screw up a salad? The lettuce looked old and the chicken had zero flavor, absolutely bland. My friend ordered a burger and again, it had zero flavor, completely bland. They need to fire their new chef and go with an alternative option.

Having worked as a server for many years, the review is mostly about the service although the food was mediocre at best. I am not sure how anyone can justify waiting over an hour for a meal on Monday. I don’t think it was the kitchen staff. I can usually tell and I totally think it was our server. The cook came out of the kitchen to get something to drink from the bar a few times during our«wait» and so my thought is the server forgot to place our order. When we finally flagged her down, she didn’t apologize, just said«I’ll check» and then came back 15 minutes later with our steaks. Those, while cooked correctly were very small for the money charged. We will not be back.

Great views, horrible service. Waitstaff young and rude. Food just ok. Waitstaff has no knowledge of the menu. Never asked if dinner was ok. No. Bread with meal. Had to ask for more water. Staff all just wanted to go home. Go somewhere else, overpriced.

Great steak and meal. The river is right out the door. Older place but great service.

Went in for the first time and thought it was good. Service was just ok. We had to wait awhile for our drinks. Dinner was good, cooked the way we asked. A little pricy for every week dinning. Good décor. Parking is limited. Overall worth trying

Food amazing! Made reservation for 8pm on a Saturday… celebrated Valentine’s Day a week late. Used our gift card, $ 100, for 2 people, very appropriate. Sitting in the bar or «upstairs» is up to you. I assumed the numerous«no cell phones» in the dinning room and appropriate attire listed on menu would have been upheld… it was not. Jeans and fitted hats worn by many… cramped seating… a surprise to my expectations. Our server was a bit stressed by the end he was very adhering to our table. Fried clam appetizer special was delicious. Spring rolls were big and very worth it. Colossal scallops were amazing, filet mignon, perfectly cooked. $ 100.50 food, $ 30 drinks = good time.

Overpriced for average food. Burger was ok, I had better for less. My husband didn’t care for his steak. Small portions.

This is one of our favorite summer hangouts. We love to go and sit outside near the farmington river with a glass of wine and some food. It is ALL about the location. We have been inside once and it is rather stuffy and seems popular with the wealthy over 65 set. The food is just average for the price and the menu has not changed in the 4 years we have been coming here. I would suggest the reuben sandwich it is one of the better I have had. The service is average, barely friendly but not rude. We will keep coming to sit by the river but with the expectation of average food and service at slightly elevated pricing.

Initial impressions of this restaurant were not good since the host sent us upstairs and we waited a while to be acknowledged even though we had reservations. The service was a bit slow too as our server had a big top, but other people stopped by to help us out. Anyways…the bread tasted like it was fresh made on-site, the wine was delicious, and the entrees came out in a timely fashion. I got the filet which was cooked perfectly. Medium rare with some really nice color on the outside. PS: Don’t listen to people who say this place looks outdated(décor wise). It’s a classic pub; a place where you go for that special occasion, or just a really well done meal. I actually really appreciated the interior as it made me feel very warm and welcomed.

On the Sunday brunch menu one of the best things to order is the turkey burger –nice seasoning, all in all good flavor. Interior could use a little updating in the downstairs but sitting by the water in nice weather makes it a prime location during the summer and fall. Mother in law had the chicken pot pie and it looks yummy if you don’t mind the calories in the crust ;)

I’ve heard nothing but great things about Apricots. This summer, we finally decided to give it a shot. The views of the Farmington River are beautiful, and the backdrop is perfect for many occasions. But the food just left more to be desired — «nothing to write home about». We started things off with Old Bay spiced calamari. It came with a very chunky marinara sauce and a very watery wasabi crème. The calamari itself wasn’t bad especially for how simple it was spiced. Unlike other reviewers, there was a good mix of both body and tentacles, so we were happy. The grilled NY Strip Steak($ 32) I got was tiny. Accompanied by Idaho whipped potatoes, vegetable medley, caramelized onions, bordelaise sauce — it was honestly kind of boring and bland. My dining companion opted for the sautéed North Atlantic Salmon($ 28) with grilled corn & edamame succotash, okra, lemon and dill aioli. Both entrees were so poorly portioned, it was difficult to share. And after all was said and done, meals we could have easily made better at home. Warmer months and beautiful weather, the outdoor seating is where it’s at. But it does not live up to the hype and is generally overpriced for what it is.

Great views of the Farmington River, but very overpriced for what it currently is. From what I hear, Apricots used to be THE nice place to go to in the Farmington area. But with a plethora of nicer, more modern options not too far away, Apricots can probably be skipped over. The two times I’ve been there, I wasn’t blown away with anything I had ordered, which is quite a disappointment considering how expensive the place is. If you want to just head there for a drink or two while sitting outside overlooking the river, then Apricots would be a nice option. But if you’re looking for high quality food, you can do better(if not cheaper) elsewhere.

For starters the view is just amazing. The food is awesome. The coconut shrimp had a mango spice sauce which was amazing and calamari appetizer had a wasabi sauce was different and tasty! For entrees we got the filet mine was over cooked but as soon as I said something they brought it right back n gave me my new filet which was done to perfection. Overall this place is amazing, peaceful environment and romantic.

A fun time with friends during happy hour. Sat outside by the river before our meal. Perfect day! Happy hour was half off appetizers and free chicken with pasta. We included a couple appetizers. It was wonderful!

Went for a late lunch last Friday and despite it being very crowded, we were able to get a seat at the outdoor bar. Our server/bartender was very attentive. We really enjoyed the lobster spring rolls appetizer, and both of our entrees were very good as well. I had the cedar plank salmon, which was one of the better I’ve had in this area. The strawberry rhubarb crisp was fantastic for dessert. This was the first time we’d tried Apricots, and I’m really surprised by the wide range of reviews I’m reading now. Usually this is a bad sign, but as far as our experience, it was quite good.

This place is great if you want a glass of wine outside with a river view in the Farmington Valley. The food in the restaurant is decidedly overpriced, the meat was over done and everything was cold. I went for a family dinner and the only meal that was enjoyable as the vegetation stuffed peppers that where actually pretty yummy. The service was sullen and inattentive. This used to be a great place to go in Farmington for a special meal. Unfortunately this is no longer the case.

The food was mediocre and overpriced; I had undercooked coconut shrimp which were on the cold and soggy side, as if they had sat for quite some time after being cooked. My boyfriend had the turkey burger, which was dry and flavorless. The service was also poor, and we waited for quite some time(at least 15 minutes) before someone came over with water. It took a significant amount of time after that to place an order. We had to ask to have some cutlery replaced, as it was visibly dirty; we later learned that the restaurant had alarmingly low scores from the Health Department, which wasn’t a surprise. The location is fine; I’ve heard people in the area rave about the riverside eating. We were out on the deck, which is right on the river. Keep in mind that it is right next to a main road, and traffic noise detracts from the setting.

Stopped here yesterday for lunch and some wine . I would recommend the salmon burger, I only had a bite but it was enough to win the deal . My chicken pot pie was more like chicken in dish water . Come in the summer, order some wine and sit by the river, keep the food simple and its a winner . I feel so conflicted on how to rate it so I am going to break it down view and scenery 5* food 3* value for money 4* a bottle of rose was only 28 usd !
