Went to the Avon location today. Great Caesar salad and grilled chicken panini. Great meal, great service. It you haven’t tried either of their Avon or Farmington locations give it a try. Will be back

Truffles is a great Starbucks alternative. Tasty fair trade organic coffee and fresh delicious bakery and breakfast sandwiches. The baby spinach, goat cheese egg wrap is very good. I frequent Starbucks and I get tired of their microwaved fare. A real kitchen with a real cook is a nice change of pace. Despite that, they are still super fast, friendly and reasonably priced. Plus free wi-if and comfortable, bright sitting areas. Nice job!

Unfriendly service and overpriced, moderately decent food, but the baked goods are extremely good.

Oy, we eat here 2 times a month. I just ordered a bowl of chili and a cold pressed juice. 10−15min later no food. It’s 2:30 on a Wednesday, not terribly busy. Don’t forget an order, especially something as easy a bowl of chili. Another associate behind the counter rectified the forgotten order with prompt delivery, and a free snack bar. I debated a 2-star review, but 3 stars seems bad enough.

*Caveat: this review is written from the perspective of a gluten-free diner* I stopped into Truffles’ Avon location after I heard they offer gluten-free wraps for their sandwiches. The first thing I noticed when I got to the counter is that they have a large«gluten-free disclaimer,» which basically tries to absolve their staff of providing any knowledge about the gluten contents or handling of their food. I had a problem with that immediately; as an establishment that serves food, servers, cooks, and other staff should be trained at a MINIMUM to know what is in the food they are serving. It’s not too much to ask employees to be knowledgeable about the contents of your food, or to request clean surfaces/utensils in the preparation of your order. I did proceed to order a gluten-free wrap and the cashier informed me that the two sides that are offered(salad and dessert) are not gluten-free and no substitutions(not even their gluten-free chips) could be made. Well OK then. She tried to explain that they take a dollar off for no sides, but then she charged me a dollar more for the gluten-free wrap, so it ended up being moot. The actual wrap took 10 minutes to make(for my to-go order); the wrap itself was decent but for over $ 10 for just a wrap, no substitutions, and little interest in providing a level of comfort and accommodation for my dietary needs, I likely won’t be returning. It’s *really* not hard to a be a gluten-free-friendly(or any other allergies for that matter) place these days; clearly Truffles is behind the times here and doesn’t seem to have an interest in catching up.

Stopped by on my lunch break while running some errands. The space is bright, clean, and roomy. Definitely a cool café to do work or take a friend to lunch. I had a Cobb Salad to go. The staff was polite and prompt, and I waited about 5 minutes for the salad to be brought out from the back. The salad was big and yummy and the dressing(blue cheese was my choice) was creamy and thick. The bacon was also fresh, full slices instead of the usual crumbles you might get from a package. Will definitely be back for coffee with friends. A little pricey, but not so much that I wouldn’t recommend.

Ordered the chicken panini to go for lunch. Took about ten minutes to order up and was given to me in a cardboard contained with the fork sticking out. Not great for traveling but whatever. It was a nice surprise to see a small piece of cake included as I wasn’t expecting that. The panini turned out to just be toasted bread. There was not enough roasted red pepper Spread on the sandwich so it was mostly bland. The macaroni was good though but I had higher expectations.

Delicious cupcakes with a variety of flavors! They also make great sandwiches! It’s one of my regular spots: simple and delicious. Cupcakes are moist which is a must for me. They also have great lemon and raspberry bars and they sell cakes as well! It’s a little pricey that’s the only downside, but other than that it’s definitely worth a visit.

«Howdy!» That’s my typical greeting when meeting people. I started saying it because it seemed to be a little more friendly than saying«hi», or the more formal«hello». Sometimes people think I’m from the midwest, but the truth is that I’m a jew from the suburbs of central CT. I just try to have a friendly outlook on life. Upon my first time going into Truffles, the girl behind the counter said that I stole her line. Apparently she says howdy too, and she just like I, isn’t from the midwest. She was nice and polite. The other girl complimented me in my matching attire, which was an accident. I guess hunting orange is the«in» thing. Truffles is a lunch spot in the Avon Valley. They serve lunch, salad and some breakfast items as well as dessert. I was in for lunch and got a turkey panini and a very large(think big-gulp) iced coffee. My meal came pretty swiftly after I ordered it. It was ok, but not incredible. It came with macaroni salad and a little slice if cake. The cake was nice. 3.5 stars overall. The service was fast and friendly. The sandwich needs a little. Improvement. Id come back and try something else next time. :)

Great spot for lunch. I had no idea Truffles had an Avon location. I really enjoyed Sunday lunch/brunch here. The $ 8.99 sandwich and chef’s choice of pasta salad /dessert special is great. On Sundays they also have breakfast until 3 and brunch until noon. It was very clean, fast and delicious. The staff was also very nice. Ali, the cashier who helped us, was able to make some good recommendations. Overall, great experience — I’d drive from West Hartford to grab lunch here on a weekend for sure.

Great to see Truffles doing so well on this spot on 44. The Farmington Valley needed more reasonably priced, fresh food options and Truffles fit perfectly.

FOOD: I haven’t had anything bad here yet! I love everything. And I do love the tiny cake with each meal it really makes it feel special. One thing is the grilled cheese is super heavy on the cheese, but that’s just my preference… next time I should remember to ask for them to go easy on the cheese. ATMOSPHERE: So cute but not cluttered! Love the BIG tables lots of people can be in here and it doesn’t feel like it. The line area can start to feel crowded. I also wish the soda fountain were in another location… maybe more into the dining area? It feels like a bottle neck to have the soda where people are trying to order. The menu is a bit hard to read too. It’d be nice if the menu was around the corner when you first walk in so you could see it while you wait in line before you get up to the front. SERVICE: I have a big family(6), so my order is usually long. It’s my natural inclination to feel like I need to hurry up with my order for the sake of the other people in line and often at other places the person taking my order shows their displeasure that I’m ordering yet *another* thing when they are clearly busy but the person taking my order at Truffles *never* makes me feel like I need to rush. They aren’t exasperated even if there is a line. I appreciate that A LOT. Even though you order at the counter the service is almost better than many sit down places! They bring your food out promptly and very pleasantly and will ask if you need anything and come back and ask how things were. You can tell the people who work here enjoy it. Once we were offered samples on a slow day that way nice and we discovered a new favorite side dish. Food 5 /Atmosphere 4.5 /Service 5 = 5 Overall Notes: — On price, I’ve read some other reviews saying it’s over-priced — I don’t think so at all! If you don’t want sides you have the option of dropping them and saving some $. Yes, you order and they bring you the food but what you get is quality. — I’m not sure why it’s called Truffles. No truffles on the menu that I’ve seen… savory or sweet… a bit confounding! Tip: — It gets busy on the weekends. If you want to peruse the menu for your first visit and pop back up to the counter for dessert try a weekday lunch.

Nice location. Very clean brunch spot. Overpriced though. Eggs scrambled with mushrooms and some home fries for $ 11. Same meal in other local places is half that price. Food was tasty, just left a pain in my side and my wallet hitting me up for $ 11. Will continue to use this place for buying bread though. That is 1st class. But as for brunch, I am afraid they have lost me at that price.

The atmosphere is nice and the staff is very friendly but it’s extremely overpriced for what it is. You order at the counter, serve your own coffee and then they bring you your food. For this level of service, the brunch prices were about $ 11 per meal! I had the balsamic eggs, which included two poached eggs, homefries and arugula with a balsamic glaze and one slice of sourdough bread. Overall, it tasted good, but a bit bland, definitely not worth the $ 11 price tag! The sourdough bread, though, was excellent! I may come back for the bakery but not a meal.

I first came here with my Mum in April 2015 — and I’ve been back over 20 times since then! We’d both seen the Truffles in Farmington countless times but never stopped in. Now that they have an Avon location so close to home, we couldn’t resist. Since that first visit, I’ve brought my husband here many times and we always have a good meal. At this point, the staff recognize us and know us by name. The entire staff is friendly and can answer any questions you have. The décor inside is cute and homey — very easy to feel comfortable there. The dessert case is very drool-worthy, but FYI: your meal comes with a small dessert! Either they are tempting you to buy more sweets before you leave or this is one of the best ideas a restaurant/café could ever have! I’m a big fan of their egg wraps(which you can also get as an omelette, sans-wrap) — the ranchero being a personal favorite — but you can also make your own sandwich, as well as they have great salads and fresh meals from the grill(if you like tuna, their tuna salad on focaccia bread is great!) Whenever I want to have a good, fresh, quick meal in the Farmington Valley, this is where I come!

Had to give this a try because I absolutely adore the truffles in Farmington. The place is large and the décor is very simple but funky. It’s a great place to enjoy lunch with ample seating inside & outside. The food is very fresh. The deli meat is not soggy & salty like many places can be. For $ 8.99 you get to build your own sandwich & it comes with a side of pasta salad & dessert. I was a little disappointed in the pasta salad only because I wanted a side salad. Their online menu states that you can choose between pasta salad or a side salad but in the restaurant you only have pasta as an option. I am not a pasta fan so it was just left on my plate– quite a waste! However, that is my only negative. The bakery is as extensive as the bakery in Farmington. Tons of cookies, brownies, and other yummy pastries. There is also an extensive drink menu: coffee, juices, soda, vitamin water, and more. Will definitely be back.

My friend and I stopped in here for a quick lunch on a Sunday. It was friendly service, and you order and pay at the counter and they bring it out to you when it’s ready. They include a small, cute piece of cake — so nice! Good food, fair prices, cute area.

Been here several times, never been let down before. I usually get the bakers special from the brunch menu, very delicious. The staff is friendly and quick, and the insides scream speciality bakery, very nice. I highly suggest getting some of their desserts, they are to die for. Stop in and support a local business.

Have always been a fan of Truffles wherever the location, the original Canton, Farmington and now the new Avon Location right off of Rt 44 next to Pasta Company across from Marshall’s. I used to find myself for breakfast at Farmington on average once a week, but now with Avon, I don’t have to go out of my way. Food is the same. Same friendly faces are working in both locations, and I am super happy to find out that Kevin is a new addition to the kitchen staff. I have yet to get lunch in Avon, but breakfast has been consistently good across the board. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches, bacon, sausage or ham, but ask for a two eggs. Really makes a well rounded hard-roll sandwich. Breakfast wraps are awesome as well. Look forward to returning

We popped in today for a late morning snack of coffee and a pastry. The interior looks pretty much the same as it did when Stonepost was here. The only difference is that Truffles doesn’t occupy the old bread store on the first floor and the big room on the second floor that Stonepost did. Truffles sells a very broad selection of sandwiches and salads and baked goods, We each had a coffee and split a salted caramel toffee bar that was delicious. The only weird thing was that the bar was very hard to cut in half! We tried to bisect it with a plastic knife that was totally futile. I tried to use the same knife by pressing it straight down like a guillotine, instead of the sawing motion my wife used, and that didn’t work either. We ended up snapping it in half like a piece of sheet-rock. The bar was very cold and I wondered if it had been recently thawed? Anyway, it was crazy delicious — an awesome tasty mix of sweet, salty, and buttery goodness. I see they’re open until 6 during the week, great hours for picking up dinner on the way home. In addition to the many meal choices on the menu board, we also saw cupcakes and muffins and cakes and croissants, plus big bowls of potato salad, macaroni salad, tuna-mac salad, and pasta. Believe me, they all looked terrific. Nice job, Truffles — we’ll be back.
