Good place for lunch at a reasonable price. Been there twice now, both times it wasn’t very busy. Service was quick and accommodating. Tortilla soup is tasty, quesadillas too. Both times I was able to get in and out quickly for lunch.

I love this location it’s close, convent the food is always hot and made fresh, our bartender Robert was on point with our drinks. The manger Silvia was very friendly and I let her know about our pleasant experience at this Chevys location. We will be coming back to dine here.

I came here recently for a work HH. There were 8 of us and we sat in the bar area to get the HH specials. The service was just poor. The bar area was not even that crowded neither was the restaurant and the service was still POOR. We asked for little things like chips and salsa, napkins like 5 times. On top of that we were charged regular price for the chicken fajita when clearly we are there for HH, we are all looking at the HH menu and I’m pointing to the chicken fajita on the HH menu as I’m ordering. Still got charged regular price! I asked for an extra scoop of sour cream… a good server would politely let me know«that’s a $ 1.99 up charge». NOPE, not this one. I just saw the upcharge on my tab for a small scoop of sour cream. WOW, way to keep me in the loop of what you’re overcharging. This is not the first time I’ve been here and received horrible service. Just the one time they really got to me and I felt the need to share my experience. We’ll def be choosing another HH place in the future. Just not worth the headache.

Pretty good food, mediocre service. Server had difficulties understanding how we wanted our orders and what we didn’t want. Took three tries for him to realize I did not want sour cream on my dish. Mixed grill Fajitas were excellent. Loved the flavors and tastes of the four types of meat. Beans were flavorful and rice was not dry. We all had a variety of margaritas and sangria and those were good too. With a party of 10, our bill wasn’t outrageous. We were celebrating a birthday and the waiter was quick to ask early on if it was a birthday celebration. Wait staff got together and sang happy birthday and brought out a free dessert. The restaurant was fairly quiet, though it was a Wednesday evening during the holiday season, so I’m not surprised. There were at least 2 other large groups dining that night. All is all, decent meal and would definitely return. Oh, also, chips and salsa were really good and they kept refilling which was super.

«I don’t know, I only work here.» Buckle up people, this one’s a doozy, Went on a Thursday with my roommate for their«2 Fajitas for $ 25″ deal. Sounded great. the place was empty, probably for a reason. We were seated quickly and the serving came around quickly to take our drink orders. I asked for any drink specials for the night the waiters had little clue what they were. he said they had „small Dos Equis(pronounced it wrong) and Bud Light.“ When asked what a „small“ was he did not know. He guessed on the pricing of the special vs the regular price. I chalked this up to him perhaps being new, that’s forgivable. I ordered a Dos Equis, roommate got a water. those took almost 10 minutes to arrive. When the drinks arrived we ordered the chicken flautas as an appetizer and we both got an order of fajitas. I asked what all came with the 2 for $ 25 deal and the server told me everything but the 4 protein meal. I even pointed to the menu to confirm. I order chicken and steak fajitas, roommate got just chicken. A few minutes later he came back around to check on our drinks, I ordered another Dos Equis. 10 minutes later, no beer, no appetizer. Another 10 minutes, our fajitas come out, delivered by someone else. We asked about our appetizer and they said they would check on it. A few minutes later, someone else brought out our appetizer. He asked if we still wanted it which we refused as we were already eating our entrees. Still another 5 minutes went by and our server finally came back with my second beer. He then said he „noticed“ his manager bring out the appetizer late. Then blamed that manager for the mix-up and said the fajitas were done too early. The fajitas were… ok. The meat was dry, barely any veggies, the guac was the only good part. Oh, and my second beer came as I was on my last fajita. Now the fun part of getting the check. We figured it would be too much for them to try to split the check so we kept it simply on one bill. They charged us $ 3 more, no explanation on the check as to why. I asked our server what the $ 3 was for and he said „I think because you ordered the chicken and steak. but I don’t know, I only work here.“ …“I only work here»… I… ONLY…WORK…HERE. OBVIOUSLYYOUWORKHEREWHICHISWHY I’M ASKINGYOU. He brought his manager over, the one who eh blamed for the appetizers mishap, who explained the $ 3 charge was for the chicken/steak combo. He backed that charged off since the waiter misinformed us. He also made a point to mention that we were not charged for the appetizer, as if he was doing us a favor for not charging us for something we didn’t eat. At the end of the night, some hour and half after we sat down, the manager took off the $ 3 extra charge and one beer. Needless to say I was more than disappointed in his response. Won’t be going back or recommending them to anyone.

Went in on Thursday. After sitting a hot minute my server came up. Introduced himself as Bruce Willis. Thought that rather odd as he was neither bald nor handsome. But what the hell. Everyone has their own style. Had two beef enchiladas. Pretty damn good. Music was a strange mix. Mexican and 80s. Bruce(John) was attentive but not hovering like many servers. Kept my drink full. Pushed dessert but not too hard. Liked the guy.

WORSTSERVICEEVER! I work at a restaurant and I am aware of how the industry works. In my restaurant we have a «30 second greet policy» which means that after your table is sat, you have 30 seconds to greet your table and ask for a drink order. Well i waited almost 10 minutes to even see our server. He did not even apologize he just seemed rushed. Our food came out very late(not the servers fault) but it was a slow day for lunch, and the server never checked in with us to see how we were doing. After receiving our food I asked for a refill and for more chips, and neither ever arrived. We felt bad asking constantly for things but the server never checked in and asked if we needed anything else, plus my shrimp fajita was a 2⁄5. I will not be returning to Chevys. I would not recommend it to anyone!!!

I order the taco salad, dinner portion, not the lunch portion. For some reason the lunch portion is strange and includes strips of taco shell in a box. It’s not a real taco salad. I normally get the food to go and eat at home, only sat down once. The place was decent. Nothing too exceptional here.

The past couple of times I have visited have been a let down. A couple of weeks ago we visited and I was disappointed. Our waitress was extremely absent(& no, it was not full). The food was good but the margaritas were lacking. The manager was cynical although she did try to help. I told my husband I might need to down my rating but he said we should give them another try, and I listened. So, we stopped by on Friday and after a crazy week I was ready for a margarita(or two). We walked up to the menu/seating station and looked around. We were just about to head over to a bar area table when someone appeared and asked us if we were together, mind you there is no one else waiting, just us. We both said ‘yes’ which seemed to confuse this guy We headed over to a bar table and waited to place our order. I was glad we got a different waitress who was more engaged and nice. Thankfully I did not need to speak with the manager because she was trudging and looking stressed. I guess if I go to a tex-mex place for an after work HH I am hoping for a fun, or at least positive, atmosphere. There are four categories to consider for a HH: atmosphere, food, drinks, pricing. The food is good. The pricing is pretty good(not as good as it was before the last time they ‘improved’ but you expect that…). The atmosphere and the drinks have lost something. I still prefer Chevy’s to some of the early tex-mex places but it may be time to beginning looking for someplace else. I really do want to be a fan but after these last two visits I’m not. Perhaps my summer mission will be to find some good tex-tex and margaritas in a fun atmosphere…

I’m not sure what happened to Chevy’s but today was one of the worst experiences I’ve had… everything just seemed underwhelming and hardly mediocre. The flautas that I remembered where crispy and golden fried the ones I got today were limp and soggy over sauced. The Nachos… were cold and the cheese was already in its cold lifeless form. It took about 30 mins before our entrees of fajita salads to come out… again more disappointment. The salad that used to be mixed table side with warm fajita chicken now became a bowl of salad with toppings and cold grilled chicken. The only thing that stayed consistent over the years was the chips and salsa. Either way this probably is my last visit to chevy’s it’s no longer what it used to be an that’s really sad.

Service was great and prices were reasonable. Lots of lunch and drink specials as well. It’s your typical tex-mex chain. I give it three stars because the food leaves something to be desired. I recommend going to Chuy’s in West Fairfax instead. Chuy’s costs more, but you will leave much more satisfied with your meal. I was seated with a large table(party of 16) during the workday. I got the arroz con pollo(chicken with rice) bowl. It was fine, nothing outstanding. The most enviable items ordered at our table were the fajita platters. I’d recommend getting a few of those and splitting them with your party. If you’re dining in, food comes with free chips and salsa.

How do you like your Salsa for dippin nachos? Do you like it cool and fresh –with nice bits of tomatoes, onions, chilies and cilantro etc? No, not a pico de gallo, just a nice, classic salsa. Something with a nice kick, yet totally addictive for more? Or do you prefer a bland, pasty purée– like brown baby food with nothing discernible in it, seemingly topped off with cigar ash? How do you like your ambiance? Do you like a clean, properly wiped down dinner setting, a well-lit atmosphere where you can see the food and read the menu clearly? Or do you prefer sitting next to a pooper scooper and broom while waiting for your order at a grimy table under a 5 watt lamp which was ostensibly wiped down with a shop rag — only for the server to come back after 25MINUTES –and tell you they DONT have the g**damm margarita you wanted? If you answered any of the latter, try Chevy’s at Gatehouse Plaza. Something right up your tex-mex alley. My «Jalapeño Bacon Wrapped Shrimp» looked like 4 green turds, one of which was smothered in something orange. Only one of them was filled with Chevy’s «manchego» cheese. Awful, saddening. If you want a depressing, almost painful experience for«tex mex»(whatever the hell THAT is these days), where you wait around amid filth and grime for a good 30 minutes only to receive something that would make a stray dog back away in revulsion(I was with friends for a fundraiser and could not just bolt), try the Chevy’s at Gatehouse Plaza in Merrifield.

Waiters and hostess– 5 stars. Your attention please Chevy’s corporate, here is an opportunity to improve this location. Cleanliness. It is pretty apparent that this location has not received a deep cleaning in a significant amount of time. Upon entering the main dining area, there’s a noticeable sour smell one associates with sour rags or spoiled laundry, unpleasant. The men’s room was really unpleasant, with pools of urine below both the urinal and toilet. The heater in the mens room had the temperature above 80 F, which didn’t help that situation at all. The menus were not wiped down and unpleasantly sticky to handle. As a part of the interior design, the floor is stained concrete– that’s fine of course. However, please look at the staining and notice what is original pigmentation and what is months and months of grime, blackened gum spots, and other dirt in high traffic areas. The signage and promotional neon on the walls is dusty. The glass on the 3 large floating window art pieces should be cleaned. A tattered broom and filthy portable dustbin were left out in the open in the main dining area near the waiters’ order station throughout our meal. It’s my opinion those items should not be visible to guests unless they’re in use for quick sweep-ups between tables being seated, then put away in the broom closet. During our meal, a person exited the kitchen and removed two chairs from the dining area and brought them into the kitchen, her Chevy’s t-shirt was absolutely filthy with food stains. I’m fairly certain when we first dined here years ago the tumblers were glass– they’re now plastic. I understand costs and breakage but the plastic does not feel right considering the pricepoints of the entrees. The silverware was spotty. Our waiter was pleasant and quick. The hostess was pleasant, greeted us immediately, and checked on us during the meal.

I can see this place being a low-key, quirky place for you to take your girlfriends for rounds of drinks and decent food(that’s somewhat salty with their beans and their rice is bloated and old — oh, their salsa dip and chips pretty good.)… …except for that one sketchy waiter(the one who served us literally would not make eye contact with us, because he was too busy looking around when the restaurant was close to empty)… …and the flickering neon light sign of Chevy’s ‘C’… …awkward parents who share worried looks as their son never looks up once or speaks during the entire course of the meal… …a place for a first date? If you want to test her humor — I recommend this place. The fresh-Mex is worth it to check it out, …if you have the coupon for«one free entrée with the purchase of one entrée».

I don’t like to hammer establishments but when their workers are unorganized and their servers ignore you, then they don’t deserve anyone’s business. I can tell that business has dropped here because even with all the discounts and specials this hell hole is usually not busy while the other restaurants in this strip are packed. We came here for happy hour around dinner time and it was almost deserted. Even still it took us forever to get menus and service. The bartender had to come over to take our drink and app orders. I could see that a lot of other parties had a hard time getting someone’s attention. A large party got up and left from the bar area and no one on staff noticed or cared. Less work to do I guess. A three person party showed up and sat down and were ignored. One person finally flagged someone down and asked for menus. The server told him that he is sorry but they don’t have any menus. He then asked how they are supposed to order. Upon hearing this I offered them our menu since we did not need it. After getting our food I wanted to order another drink and was able to get the server’s attention. The margaritas here are somewhat tasty but lack alcohol. He took my order but I never got it. We made eye contact as I tried to flag him down. He was near the bar area. He ignored me so I walked over. I told him to cancel the drink order and he replied«oh the bartender didn’t get you your drink?» This was the second time he blamed the bartender. After talking to the manager and getting her to get our check she just did a lot of acknowledgement apologizing but nothing else. She was useless. This place is a disorganized hell hole and everyone should be fired and it should be closed. There’s no reason for anyone to want to come dine here ever again. Plenty of better restaurants in this area to spend your money and be treated with respect.

Review # 14 I give Chevys 3.5 stars. I’ve been to Chevys about four times in a few years & it always satisfies my Mexican food cravings. Plus I go for the tropical drinks if I want to fill my need for a fruity liquid dessert with some alcohol in it. I went last Sat, 7 Jun, since I wanted to drink to Maddie, my parents’ dog who passed away on 16 May, and this was the soonest I could get out to toast to the sweetest dog. First the nice waiter named Errol, he joked & said, «think Errol Flynn,» brought my water, free chips & salsa. I could eat a meal from just those. Their staff was very polite & helpful. I ordered the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas, which came with melt in your mouth blue crab, shrimp sautéed in white wine and garlic, then folded into corn tortillas with veggies and jack cheese with habanero-pesto cream sauce. There are two enchiladas in this Tex Mex Innovations section of their menu. They are served with fresh Mex rice and sweet corn tamalito. I hadn’t eaten all day so I finished all the food on my plate, except maybe a few bites of the corn tamalito. Along with my meal, I ordered a nice, tall, Piña Colada to start off with. This is truly a liquid dessert with alcohol. Once I drank that I ordered a Bahama Mama to finish with my dessert. Dessert was Deep Fried Ice Cream. They roll their creamy vanilla ice cream in a crispy coating, deep fry it, and serve it up on a layer of cinnamon-dusted tortilla strips. Then it’s topped off with homemade Cajeta and Chocolate sauces, whipped cream and cinnamon crisps. Oh yes, I finished this too like a champ. So all in all the food & drinks were great & I left satisfied.
