The burgers were different and delicious. The staff was helpful, patient and friendly. The prices weren’t too bad and the atmosphere was fun. Some of the items aren’t consistent; fried pickles are ok one visit, unbearably salty the next. Still one of our faves

Pretty good. I’ve been to the Twisted Root in Plano and I think I gave them 3 stars for just an «Eh» burger. Same as Plano, the real draw here is the wild game meats. This time I got Wild Boar on the recommendation of the cashier guy, dude wearing a Fallout(my favorite video game!) shirt and that really knew his stuff. Got it with Green Chile, pepper jack cheese, and some A1 sauce, superb. Wife and brother got regular beef burgers, they said it was good too. I like the fries, they are seasoned pretty good. Place is cool kind of with an old drive-in theme, big screen was playing very old cartons, like from the 40s or so in black n white. They have real car seats at some of the tables, pretty unique. Will visit again!

Overpriced, underwhelmed. How many months has it been since you cleaned out those disgusting pickle barrels? And seriously, if you’re going to show crappy old cartoons on the big screen, buy a speaker.

Decent burgers but nothing that has made me crave enough to go back… Nice décor and vibe… Perfectly placed in Deep Ellum.

Waited 40 minutes for two burgers and fries… Let me just say the place was NOT busy enough for food to take that long, it’s different if the place is completely filled with people overflowing the establishment but it just wasn’t… The fiancé ended up asking if our food was still on the way and five minutes after he asked our food was ready. Really disappointed, expensive for plain ordinary burgers. Neeext!

I got the build-your-own beef burger with basic lettuce & tomatoes. They have many specialty burgers you can order. The burger(and fries too) were very good. I like how you can grab a variety of pickles(including hot/atomic) from the giant-size jars. I enjoyed the quirky & fun ambiance of this place, but don’t visit if you’re in a hurry. We sat outside at one of the large picnic tables — nice! But it would’ve been nice if they had a few smaller tables so strangers don’t have to sit down next you. I love Slaters 50⁄50 in CA, so I was really excited that there was a burger place with peanut butter toppings here. I suggest having jelly as an option too. It sounds gross but it tastes phenomenal. Love that they assign you a name. Adds a humorous component to the burger-eating experience. I think it’d be a great place to go with kids.

This place pisses me off. I work inside the mall, and just about every time I order something they get it wrong or are just flat out rude. This includes some of the managers. Not a way to run a business if you ask me! I called not to long ago, maybe a month, to get some pricing on a burger that included my employee discount. I asked her and then was laughed at and she hung up on me. Needless to say I decided not to go there and hadn’t actually been for three weeks. I return and the male employees are so sweet. Nice, welcoming, every thing you would want in a good employee. Today one of my co-workers ordered us some food for carry out, I was standing right there so I knew exactly what she ordered. When I was waiting in line to pick it up I saw a sign for kangaroo burgers, which I think is gross, I mean people in Australia keep those as pets! I was discussing this with another coworker of mine, and the young lady behind the counter proceeds to get defensive about it, as if she was the one that was making the burgers. Anyway she was super rude! So they call us because our order is ready, they were missing an order then the manager barks at me stating«she only ordered two.» No bitch we ordered three chicken nugget meals. So anyway I haven’t paid for it yet because quite frankly I don’t think I should have had to, it was their mistakes. The girl brings my food out and barks at me. «Have you paid for this yet?!» And I simply stated no that I was going to when they called on me. Before I could that out she turned around and walked off without a word. Not a no problem, or its okay we will get you set up over here. Then I’m paying and the manager doesn’t even say a word to me. Not an apology, or a thank you. Let’s just say I’m done with this rude place. I will not be going back ever.

One of the best burger joints in the Allen/Fairview area. Always cooked just right, and the best pickles, period.

This burger place was pretty unique: they have a screen projector showing classic short films, they use actual classic car seats as their booth, and they have a variety of pickles(I guess they are known for they pickles). I had a Swiss mushroom burger; it was meaty, cheesy, and sweet from the pickles! I went crazy and tried all their pickles; my favorite was the butter and bread pickle, a mix of sweet and sour. Overall, the burger bun was kinda soaked, but it was still great! FOOD: 5⁄5 SERVICE: 4⁄5 AMBIANCE: 5⁄5

Not what I was expecting at all. My brother told me about this place and that they sell different game. So that definitely caught my attention. Who wouldn’t wanna gator, or kangaroo, or bison burger? Sadly the only have they had was bison, duck and turkey. Which is fine, because I love me some bison. So, my brother and I ordered the ‘Spicy Goat Burger’ with bison. This was supposed to come with a spicy chipotle sauce, goat cheese and bacon. My father got the ‘Freshman15’ which came with bacon, cheese and an egg with just a regular beef patty. My mother got the ‘Sexy Hawaiian’ which comes with pineapple, prosciutto and teriyaki sauce with just a regular beef patty. When I went to go get the orders, it didn’t look very appealing, but don’t judge a book by its cover. So went and sat down and took a bite of my ‘Spicy Goat Burger’. Not a very pleasant bite. The burger itself was overcooked, tough, dry and just flavorless. The goat cheese was just clumped up all on the center of the burger. The bacon was good. Lastly, there was not a drop of the spicy chipotle sauce. So I just put some of the anch-chipotle ketchup they had sitting on the table. The ketchup wasn’t bad, but it didn’t help to improve the burger. The ‘Freshman15’ was nothing but a dry flavorless patty. As was the patty in the ‘Sexy Hawaiian’. But also, the ‘Sexy Hawaiian’ had soggy bread and it only came with four little pieces of pineapple(and by little, the pieces you can pull out of the little Dole fruit cups). The root beer was delicious and the environment was very relaxed. In the end though, I can’t see myself returning to this burger establishment. Good luck to you Twisted Root Burger Co.

Helpful staff took our order and suggested some tasty additions. While seated in one of the Faux CarSeat booths we tried out some of the flavored pickle slices with Sweet & Spicy in a tie for favorite with the Bread & Butter. Waited about 12 minutes for our order to be ready and dove into Mini Corndogs and Chicken nuggets for the kids and the Dork Burger(½ pork ½ duck) with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and pepperjack cheese on the wheat bun for me. Decent lunchtime ambiance. No follow up from the staff asking about any further needs. Cleaned up and cleared out with about a 40 minute turnaround time.

I think 3.5 stars is appropriate for this place. It wasn’t good enough for me to round up to 4. It was good, and if I lived nearby I’d probably go back, but if I had the choice, I’d choose Hopdoddy over this place. I had the spicy goat, fries, and the s’mores shake. The shake was the best part. The bacon on the burger was a little under-cooked. The goat cheese and the sauce they put on it was good. The burger was a tad over-cooked for my liking. They say they cook their burgers medium-well, but mine was more well done. For the price you pay, I feel like you should get a homemade bun, not some pre-packaged standard sesame seed bun. Overall good, but you can certainly do better.

Mushroom burger, Fries, and some delicious Root Beer!!! Twisted Root is one of my favorite finds since moving to Dallas. The burgers here are amazing and they have something for everyone. My favorite thing about the mushrooms is how garlicy and scrumptious they are. Yuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm!!! I love the home made root beer too. Nothing makes me happier than delicious root beer. The burgers here are pretty big and I def. recommend if you go with another person getting two burgers and cutting them in half so you don’t get bored with the flavors(seeing as the portions are large.) The parking lot can get jam packed here at times so make sure you prepare to walk a little. There is plenty to do around here to walk off your lunch too.

We came here tonight at 7:15 ish, prime dinner time on a Saturday night. There were three of us, and we ordered back to back. I ordered the Lots-a-Shrooms burger, and the waitress asked if I wanted the burger of the month burger instead, which was Gouda cheese instead of Swiss.(And nothing else. Which I should have noticed before I agreed.) It was three extra bucks to switch cheeses but omit a topping(the garlic). Wow. For a plain and dry burger with less than a handful of mushrooms on it and a tiny piece of Gouda cheese, the burger alone was 10 bucks. I ordered cheese fries, which were 3.50 and if could have fit the entire portion in my hand. My total, with a small fountain drink, came to 16 bucks. Not even kind of worth it for the small, mediocre portions. Another thing that irked me about ordering was that my sister asked for the mini corn dogs and cheese fries. She didn’t know that the corn dogs came with fries and the cashier didn’t tell her. So she got the corn dogs with fries and then more fries, which she obviously couldn’t eat all of. I understand that we should have read the menu better, but it’s common sense to alert the customer or at least double check to make sure what they are wanting is what they are ordering. Besides the price, it really bothered me that even though we ordered back to back with the only cashier, our foods came out at way separate times. People got their meals way before I did, allowing my boyfriend to eat his entire meal before my fake celebrity name was even called up to the counter. Such a bad experience. I won’t waste another 16 bucks here.

Just wasn’t what I expected. It all sounded so good but it just was so very ordinary, it is on par with fast food and I expected so much more. The root beer nice but I won’t be coming back.

Hit up Twisted Root as the last leg of the Cheeseburger crawl. My first reaction was to the place itself. Very different, very original. Decorations like that can easily get gaudy and overwhelming — but it was pulled off very well. Seating levels and methods were awesome, the TV wall was fun and great for some of the kids there. Second reaction — banana lemonade? Chocolate Root beer? Ok, time to try a shot. Chocolate root beer, eh… tastes about how it sounds, but unique. Banana lemonade, I’m thinking, this will be gross — 2 or 3 glass later it was my drink of the night. Ok, burger time. I got the spicy goat. My friends all got their western burger which I had to taste, it was really good — but the spicy goat was simple amazing. If I got the western burger this might be a 4 star review — but it is a 5… The Spicy goat had very creamy, very sweet goat cheese. The sweetness was cut with heat from a chipotle sauce. The patty was really fat and very juicy and cooked perfectly. The best part… bacon. Bacon makes everything good even better. The bacon was thick and completely covered the burger(not just two strips in a X). So we had a little salt and savory from the bacon, sweet from the cheese, heat from the sauce — burger perfection. The tastes were all layered together and completely exploded the taste buds. The burger was simply amazing, I would recommend a visit just to try that burger. Then a banana shake to top things off… awesome — oh wait, is that Bailey’s in my shake? Mmmmm.

Really awesome burgers, but sometimes a bit of a wait. Not very easy to order to go, as the staff doesn’t consistently answer the phone if they are busy with in-house customers. If there was a way to place an order online and pay ahead, I would love to do so, as I know it would free up the staff having to man the phones when a to-go order comes in. If you’re looking for a quality burger to go — check out Mooyah across the street in the big shopping center near the Allen Event Center. Not as nice a burger joint, more«chainy» and less«authentic» and a few less toppings to choose from, but overall similar enough, cheaper, and tasty!
