I began coming here at the recommendation of a co-​worker, whose whole family had been tattooed by Melissa. I didn’t ask for Melissa and instead, got my first (and second!) tattoo ever from Thom, who — on both visits — took a simple idea I had and made it look so much better than I had personally envisioned.
You know how people say that getting your first tattoo is like having your first kid? Yeah, I totally experienced that feeling with the bee he tattooed for me. And for my second tattoo, of the laughing Buddha and some text, he was very enthusiastic about my idea and convinced me to do it in color rather than the black and grey I had wanted. I am so happy he did. It’s brilliant.
I waited almost 10 years after knowing I wanted to get a tattoo to actually go and get my first one. I was intimidated by the tattoo shop «scene» and worried that I’d feel out of place there. So I can say that Evolution is a great place to go if you are concerned about feeling comfortable. The artists talk to each other while working on you, and if you also get Thom to do your tattoo, he has one of those quiet rotary machines that don’t aggravate you so much with the buzzing.
I wasn’t worried about the pain of tattooing so much before I experienced it, since I have a high tolerance, but I was uneasy from not knowing what to expect I’d feel for hours. So I was jumpy. The artists here are really good about that and will check in to see how you feel.
On top of everything else: it’s super affordable. When I decide what else I might want on my body permanently, this is the place I’ll go!

I just went to Evolution Tattoo and was very happy with the result. I went in for a small memorial tattoo. The staff was helpful and gave good advice about what I was trying to accomplish and the color. They took the time to go over the design and to answer all my questions. The place was sterile and they just painted and redid the space. The staff was well versed in the techniques. I felt like the environment was very welcoming to someone outside of thier normal clientel. I was so happy with my service that I felt like they needed a positive review.
