I have been to Sorella’s a couple of times in the past and after eating there again last night I decided it’s time to write a review. Not that this place is undiscovered — in fact it’s crazy-busy on weekend nights, and they don’t take reservations. Amazingly, we got a table within 10 minutes, and despite the fact that the place was packed, we got excellent and fast service, and a fantastic meal. On top of that, they have a guitar/piano duo playing on Friday evenings that is stellar. The musicians were having fun playing a mix of blues, R&B, and old classic rock tunes, and it was a great scene. However, if you want to hear the music, ask for a table in the back room, since the main room is so noisy you can’t hear anything in there. Later in the evening, as the crowds thinned, we had another glass of wine and moved to the back room, and enjoyed some great music. So it was really dinner and a show for the price of a dinner! Oh, about the dinner… Sorella’s is no run-of-the-mill Italian place. For starters we had the mixed green salad. At this place they don’t ask you what kind of dressing you want, and then glop on something from a bottle. No, the lovely mixed baby greens come with a house dressing that is an inscrutably mysterious elixir. I wish I could figure out what’s in their dressing so I could make it at home. Even though they gave us chunks of fresh parmesan for our bread, I used my bread to wipe up every drop of that salad dressing. For main courses, they have the best eggplant parmesan I’ve ever tasted. I swear I’m going to have cravings for that dish. The sauce is incredible, and the balance of cheese, eggplant, and sauce is perfect. We also got their special risotto — saffron with shrimp and scallops. The seafood was super-fresh and perfectly cooked, and the vegetables were also firm and not overcooked. Also, don’t skip their desserts — we had a lovely chocolate tartufo. Highly recommended!

We love sorella’s for their pasta and good service. The pompodoro, pesto, gnocchi and ravioli are just some of our favorites. I love their homemade salad dressing too

HOLYMOLY this place is good! The food is so very flavorful, and the portion sizes are so generous. This place really hit the spot, and I would definitely recommend eating here to anyone. The lasagna and the clams and mussels dishes are amazing! I would recommend that you bring your stretchy pants.

If I’m ever in the North Bay and I want to treat my friends to someplace special I always take them here(even if its 30 minutes out of our way). The service is phenomenal and the food is always top quality. On the weekends there’s live music and the ambiance is festive, warm, and homey.

Delicious Italian restaurant. Cute little gem. The pastas are amazing. At the beginning they bring around a large Parmesan cheese that you eat with bread and it’s amazing.

Amazing food, amazing location and amazing ambiance. I really love this place. I love how they offer red wine while you wait for a table on a busy night, which is most nights. I love how the offer fresh parmesan cheese on everything. Their sage butternut squash is too die for. And I adore the fact that they serve gummy bears and cookies with the check. A+ in my book!

Let me start off by saying this place was a PLEASANTSURPRISE! I am from NJ and an Italian family. I came out here for a road trip and didn’t think it was possible to find decent, let alone, GREAT Italian food in cali. I was WRONG! From the complimentary hard Parmesan cheese from a wheel to the gnocchi to the live music, you name it, this place was ONPOINT! Go try it for yourself! Made me feel a part of the small Fairfax community as an outsider. You will get the feeling of the town from Groundhog Day with Bill Murray.

Like another reviewer, I too wanted to love this place. My sister(who used to live in Rome) and I chose this place since we’re sisters(sorella) and the food was merely okay. I had the pork chop which was thin and not notable. The veggies were merely okay(but covered with parmesan they were pretty good). My sister ordered the halibut which was very good, but again the veggies were mediocre. The welcoming pieces of parmesan is a cute idea. The gummy bear and animal cracker«dessert» is also very cute. But. The food is just okay. Our waiter was nice enough. So if you want an okay meal, come here; it’ll be fine. If you want a very good/excellent meal, look elsewhere.

My family loves Sorella’s! Great American-Italian food and a very nicely grilled NY steak on the menu. Excellent, friendly service, and a very reasonably priced wine list. We usually finish with the tiramisu and end up taking some home, it’s that big! This is a great, family friendly restaurant that we love having in our little town.

The best ever. Such great service. Super nice people all of the time. It’s funky and old school which is great. The food is beyond awesome. I have never had a bad meal. In fact it’s out of this world awesome. It’s a hole in the wall downtown fairfax and has been there since I was a kid. Families and first timers love it. It’s getting crowded so go sign in before you want to eat as it gets busy. They take reservations for parties of 6. The wine paring is great. Try something new and you will love it. I 100% will go back again and again. Best places in town. By far.

I really wanted to love this place! Growing up eating Italian food made by my 100% Italian mother makes it hard for any one to impress me with their versions. A few years ago, I tried this restaurant and didn’t like it. The other night I wanted to try again, so I ordered something simple: Spinach Ravioli with Sage Butter sauce. The Ravioli dough tasted like Spirulina cardboard. Yikes! The Sage Butter was good, but I think that is hard to ruin. The side of Alfredo, to offset the cardboard was thin & runny with little flavor. My friend’s Lasagna was suggested over the Eggplant Parmigiana, but their Lasagna was only ok. Wine list is terrible, sorry. I tasted 3 options, only one was ok, not great. At least I found a comfortable chair… sorry, no booths. But! It’s a pretty nice walk after dinner, which is essential for a dinner date.

God I love this place. Leslie says yes to everything and this pork chop is amazing. The vegetables were done perfectly. My gal was able to just add one meatball to her pasta. They brought a tiramisu birthday cake to a little boy with gummy bears on it and you can come fancy or as you are. Woman owned and run right. Thank you Sorella once again!

I will never go here again. Obnoxiously loud , over seasoned food, bad taste in décor and funky smelling. The best thing I had here was a soda. It is so loud that you can’t hear the person next to you; normally I don’t mind some noise but when I couldn’t hear the person next to me I had enough and then the guy with the squeeze box piped in. .. Not that he wasn’t good at his craft and I respect people with musical talent but I was trying to have a conversation when he started serenading the lush at the table next to us I was beyond done. Maybe this place just isn’t for me but I feel that it’s way overrated. I expected so much more I was told this place has great food but was extremely disappointed.

I’ve only been once, but I already love this place! We had the Clams and Mussels, Caesar Salad, and Olives as appetizers. I had the Spaghetti Puttanesca as my main course and it is a great dish! There are a lot of choices. Sometimes Italian restaurants don’t have many options. There is gluten-free pasta offered as a substitute option. Service was efficient and friendly! It is a busy restaurant, but they are good at turning tables. They only accept reservations for 6+. The gummy bears and animal crackers at the end are a nice treat!

Italian-american comfort food. Great wines, too. Nothing fancy, everything delicious. We had the porcini ravioli with gorgonzola cream sauce, and the penne melanzane. Would recommend both. Waitstaff super lovely, overall vibe relaxed and pleasant.

This place is my spirit animal — not kidding. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had the time to enjoy a nice meal there. The waitress came by to introduce herself with a giant half-wheel of Parmesan Cheese… so good! The food was incredible. I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage Butter Sauce and he had one of the specials. They were both AMAZING — especially mine. Bravo! Then… we got gummy bears when they gave us the check. That is my favorite candy, haha. Will be going there again soon! The service was great, too. Very friendly people. Great atmosphere.

Let me just say it plain and simple: this is not italian food. Actually, after I had dinner here, my american friends explained me what italian-american food is. As an italian, I found this an incredible mess. Overcooked pasta floating in unidentified pink sauce, a tiramisu that is basically a brick of cake. The ambient looks like an italian designer’s worst nightmare. I understand it’s a popular place because the staff is very nice and the prices are very low, but not worth my time.
