My favorite bar in the area! Bar tenders(Drew/Josh/Carly/Ian) are great and know your name and drink upon walking in. Food is consistent, I stick to the more«basic» bar food menu but would like to try some of the more fancier dishes on the menu. Brunch on Sundays is great. Monday night football and free poker, Tuesday industry night with DJ Russell. Waitresses are really nice and friendly. Located in a strip mall but once you walk in you will feel like family :) Raise a glass, here is to many more fun times at blue iggy.

My wife and I went tonight for the Thanksgiving buffet and couldn’t have been more pleased. The food was great, not easy to pull off on a buffet. Even more impressive was the servers. Of late it seem the profession of hospitality service seems to have lost its way, this was not the case. Wait staff was prompt, attentive without hovering. We couldn’t have asked for better service and the price considering the bountiful array of food all well prepared was reasonable.

Okay. Five stars. I know; it’s a bit much. But my wife and I love this place and, best of all, they love us. We go there every Friday night, sit in the bar, get a salad or entrée, have a couple of beers, and unwind. The food is solid and fits right in with the vibe. But it’s the staff that makes this place. They know us, take care of us, and make us feel special. So I give them five stars because they’re great people. And we’ll keep going back as long as we live here. There.

Great service and excellent brunch buffet options. The staff was friendly on a sunday afternoon when we stopped by for brunch. For under $ 15.00 you get to choose from an omelette station, carving station, prepared foods which vary, waffle station, and more. There is even dessert. The service was also great and the atmosphere was great for a sports bar. Most of the beef and all of the chicken is also halal.

I am writing this review immediately after leaving this bar. I will say up front that I am a rambunctious, over-the-top personality, and I like to get down and I like to get funky. That being said, here’s my review: I like these kinds of bars. Shopping center bars have always been my favorite bars. I’ve been to a million of ‘em and I’ve never been cut off in my life. But tonight was the night that the bouncer decided to cut me off. Don’t get me wrong, I understand. And I appreciate that he was was upfront and polite about the whole situation, but I feel it was unnecessary. I can think of many, many times that I should have been cut off(and wasn’t) that would have been completely justified, but in this instance I feel it was not. So, I’m sorry I like to dance, sorry I like to get the party started in a place where literally no one else was getting the party started. Sorry for partyin’ DC. I could have been your Lord and Savior of the Dance, but you crucified me and did not hear my Word. Peace Gods!

Our go to brunch place! Been here three times already, and I need to review! We love coming here to eat brunch on Sunday. Place — was a bit skeptical about going here, because of the name and location. Forgive me for judging the cover. However, I liked the set up, the food, and the host and waitress/waiters were nice! Food — I had: — omelette made at the station — beef medallions — pasta — chicken piccata — 2 – 3 diff kinds of salad(garden, fruit, and Caesar salad) — some type of white fish — mixed veggies — pancakes, bacon — lots of mini desserts Service — Good! Each and every time, we were taken care of and did not have any issues. All in all, loved this place, definitely going back. Wish I could have partake in their bottomless mimosas.

The Blue Iguana holds special meaning for me. It was where I met my wife-to-be 14 years ago and for her birthday this past September 9th, I thought it appropriate that we should celebrate there. I know it has changed over the years but I believe that the current incarnation is the best and will be even better in the future. I reserved the atrium area many months in advance and worked out an appetizer selection with Chef Jim. All of my guests enjoyed the barbecue meatballs, spring rolls, and chicken satay I had selected with the help of Ian, Mike, and Jim. Several of those in attendance made specific comments to me about how impressed they were with the food and many went back for seconds and thirds. Des was our server and was amazingly efficient at keeping about 25 – 30 guests supplied with their beverage of choice. She also helped with the decorations prior to the event. My wife was indeed surprised and the whole party was a great success. Thank you Blue Iguana. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Drinks: I would give this bar four stars, but what kind of fugging bar does not have mint? Bar tenders are not friendly unless they know you. Very small space inside, but fun and good crowd.

2.5 to 3 is what I give this place. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t spectacular. I guess I just personally expected more than what I got. For a place that specializes in seafood, I was expecting to see more than just one option on the brunch buffet. They served up a pecan crusted catfish which was sadly soggy, and over seasoned with Old Bay. Far from the quality I would have expected from this place. As for the rest of the items, they were rather hit or miss too. I didn’t try everything, but I’ll run through what I did. The eggs Benedict were over cooked, leaving a crumbly dry yolk as opposed to a creamy one. The sausage links were plump, juicy, and pretty good. The macaroni and cheese was creamy, and tasty. It went well with the BBQ chicken. There were two kinds of beef. One on the buffet, and one at the carving station. I don’t recall what the one on the buffet was called. It was in a sauce, and while tender was way too salty. The roast at the carving station was on the opposite spectrum. It was under seasoned, and chewy. The Cesar salad was soggy. The croutons absorbed all the dressing, and were a mushy mess. The cooked to order waffles and omelet were terrific. The waffles were crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. The omelet was cooked well, and as requested. I probably would not return. The distance is a bit far to trek out for hit or miss options. The price point was great, but the food just didn’t live up to the expectation.

I am at Blue Iguana several times a week. While I want to get it to five stars, it will stay as is for now. I commend the bartenders, servers, and management in general. They all continue to provide a high level of service and treat their regular customers very well. Late night, the DJs are very good. I’m not into all the music that’s played after 10pm, but I guess it’s more appropriate for the crowd that is there that late. I think more rock and roll is appropriate overall. The sound system needs improvement in my opinion. The jukebox has an excellent variety and extensive catalog. The food is consistently very good and the happy hour specials are good as well. What is negative for me is sometimes customers are rude. It comes with the territory. Usually, it’s jostling to get a bartender’s attention when the seats are full. People will just shout right next to you. In addition, I hear a lot of cursing — again I know it comes with the territory — I can go to other places and I’m just fine. As I’ve mentioned before, if you are lucky enough to get a seat at the bar or at a table and you leave for the restroom or outside to smoke, make sure you stake your claim because you may lose the spot or a staff member may pull your drinks of prematurely. Get someone to watch your spot.

Thanks to several fellow Unilocaler reviews, we had a chance to check out the happy hour at Blue Iguana. I’ll start by saying that I’ve lived in the Chantilly area in my past life and knew about Blue I, but never ventured over. They have some cool food specials during HH, as well as shooter, better and drink specials. The bar seems to be crowded every time we visit but everyone is so friendly and accommodating. It was SO crowded one time that the management allowed happy hour goers to dine in their dining room, and honored all the HH pricing. The food is standard bar fare and the dining room serves everything from sandwiches, salads to full entrée dishes. It’s not gourmet but the price is decent and the food is cooked fresh.

Stumbled upon this place because a friend was staying at a nearby hotel. We came in right before the kitchen closed, but that did not affect the quality of our food. My friend and I shared the shrimp & grits appetizer, pecan crusted chicken, catfish fritters, and crawfish. I also ordered an oyster po’ boy and a margarita. We both enjoyed the shrimp & grits and the chicken the most. The grits were creamy and flavorful. The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The catfish could have used some more seasoning but I enjoyed the remoulade that came with it. Our server was very nice and attentive. So. .. we came back the next morning for brunch! Buffet with a good selection for a low low price of $ 13.95? Don’t mind if I do! They also have $ 3 mimosas and a bloody mary bar. We had the same server although she was pretty busy so she tag teamed with another young lady. The food was just as good as the night before. They have a carving station, made-or-omelettes and waffles, in addition to bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs benedict, french toast, pancakes, and variety of lunch options. We suggested they add grits to the brunch menu too! It’s a ways from home but if I’m ever in Northern VA on a Sunday morning, I know exactly where I’m going for brunch!

«Come one, come all» This bar has a very mixed clientele; it appeared that folks from all walks of life come here for drinks and bar goodies. Surprisingly, the bar had a good variety of draft beers and the two bartenders(on jun 11th) were kind of cool and funny. There a few people dancing and it was kind of strange because it was a Thursday night but«when in Rome(or Virginia). .. «On the night the Dj played a lot of pop, rb, and dance rap music from the late 90s and early 00s. The beer and top shelf booze is pretty cheap. So, grab a drink and shake your booty.

I had lived in the area many years ago and never noticed this little place. After reading a few Unilocal reviews we decided to give them a try. They offer a happy hour during the weekdays that includes food and drinks. On a recent visit, the bar was packed but the manager started seating people in their dinig room and offered happy hour and dinner options. The food was quite tasty and the service was pleasant. They are located in a little strip mall off Fair Lakes. There appeared to be regulars who knew what to order. The atmosphere was definitely a place where the bartenders knew your name.

Cheapest dranks in town! $ 3.00 Fireball shots! Yes please! They have Angry Orchard on tap! — Makes it worth the drive right there! Atmosphere isn’t much… bar, tv’s, red walls with a few Iguana’s. Not sure if they offer a Karaōke night… We went on a Saturday night, they had a DJ playing. He took requests and we spent some time on the small self-made dance floor. Bartenders are friendly.

Lunch here is always a good choice. You will usually have the place to yourself or mostly to yourself and the service will be good. I like this place for«business» lunches. It will be quiet enough to converse comfortably and just upscale enough to be business appropriate. The food will be more than adequate and you’ll be able to sub mixed greens for fries, which is something I sincerely wish more places would do. Happy Hour here is solid and nice for people who live within walking distance(yes, that used to be me.) Sunday brunch is packed, and I’ve actually left without getting a table, so I know that must be popular, or more likely the only game in town for slightly upscale brunches. This isn’t old town Alexandria, after all. So, here is where I get all discombobulated and the reason why after many visits, I am just now getting around to reviewing this restaurant. Blue Iguana can’t figure out what it wants to be when it grows up. There, I said it. The menu is confused because it can’t decide if has a Mediterranean vibe, or a Cajun one. The menu in the restaurant contains about half the items that the menu online boasts. The venue is confused because it sort of has a neighborhood bar/club kind of feel in the evening, and then hosts a hoity toity style brunch on Sundays. See? So, in all the forms that Blue Iguana unveils itself to me, I can’t really find anything fundamentally wrong with it… go ahead, peel back the layers and see if you find the Blue Iguana that speaks to you. Personally, as changeable as I am myself, this place suits me just fine.

I live across the street from this place so a friend and I checked it out. I guess I had an interesting«nightlife» experience there this past Saturday. Highlights — the DJ played some hot tunes from thee 80’s — today’s hits. The drinks were good(really tasty chocolate martini), the cheese fries were delicious. Our bartender was good. The place was pretty dead but there was some good people watching… Negatives — you have to walk through a thick cloud of smoke just to get inside the place because there were about 2 dozen smokers on the patio. There were a bunch of rowdy young guys there who were super drunk and kept knocking over chairs. One extremely obnoxious guy kept hitting on me and my friend and was making rude, racially insensitive comments. The bartenders eventually cut him off but didn’t kick him out until he got aggressive. We finally left after nearly getting knocked over by the guy. I think the cops were called. I’m not sure if every night is like that but I don’t plan on returning… At least not on a Saturday night.
