Uncle Randy’s Jamaican American Cuisine

First off, this place is a bit of a dive as it is a small, mom and pop operation. The décor and cleanliness leaves something to be desired. So I wasn’t very impressed at first. Then the food arrived…
We had a Groupon for a whole chicken made in the traditional Jamaican jerk style. Yes, it was spicy, but that can be offset by the beans and rice, which themselves are delicious in a subtle sort of way. But the chicken. OMG. I’ve been dreaming about that chicken and craving more ever since I had my first taste. Wow! Savory, juicy, spicy — the best Jamaican Jerk I’ve ever had.
So if you’re after good food and don’t mind going to restaurants like they have in developing countries, this is totally worth it!

I have never eaten here! This restaurant is dark and vacant when I drive past. The phone number is not working. Has anybody eaten here recently?

I don’t often write reviews (though I should) but had to here. We happened on this place because we had two hours to kill late in the afternoon (well past lunch hour) on a Saturday and saw a Groupon for here. We figured we’d try it. Small single mother run business. While the place itself can be characterized as dive-​ish, she did her best to make it colorful, festive, inviting, and authentic. She’s also phenomenally friendly and welcoming and my wife, 10 year old son and I really enjoyed speaking with her. However, none of that would matter if the food wasn’t great. And man! It was. We got the whole jerk chicken with a sides of beans and rice and cabbage. It was all so flavorful… Especially her own special jerk sauce. And the portion sizes were so generous. All three of us were stuffed and still took two pieces if chicken home. My son, who had never had Jamaican food before and isn’t the most adventurous eater, had multiple helpings of everything. We’d definitely come back.

The jerk wings were great! I’m not a huge fan of tofu but even the jerk tofu was good. The highlight was the shrimp. Plump and cooked perfectly. The food was hot and the owner very nice.
