Ordered delivery and it was really good. I grew up eating Jamaican food(since I’m Jamaican haha) and have a keen eye for authentic Jamaican food. Oxtail tasted just like my aunt cooked it. Rice left something to be desired and plantains were a bit oily but would still eat here again. Recommended.

Their oxtails are so good. I also love their cabbage, the plantains, and in the summer time the ginger/pineapple drink.

I consider myself and I have been told, one of the Best Cook of Jamaican Food. I am very impress with Claire’s Corner(Claire the Chef). Her dishes are delicious, when I go there it’s hard to choose! This is one of the only Jamaican food I will eat, other than my own! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Jerk Chicken — white meat only Rice and Peas Cabbage Beef Patties Caramel Cake Good portion, good spice level, pleasant service. I’ve been twice in about 10 days because the food is so good. In some Jamaican restaurants the staff can be abrupt(putting it nicely), but the lady who works the counter(for all I know she might actually be the CLAIRE!) is pleasant and welcoming. I asked for two breasts instead of wings and she obliged with no problem. I’m not a big chicken on the bone eater, but the way she cuts it, I work over a whole piece and feel like I’m in heaven. The only letdown was the caramel cake — it’s okay, but kinda dry and only 1 inner layer of frosting — no skin off the restaurant because I think the cake is not made on-site.

It was our first time to try jamaican food at this place and it was awesome! I enjoyed the jamaican jerk and chicken curry combo with rice with beans and plantain banana. Owner was so kind gave us some complimentary bread as we couldnt handle the spice level and joked about how other patrons even added hot sauce to their jamaican jerk!

It was so good! Very tasty and reasonably priced. The food had that«homemade» taste. The owner was VERY friendly and we do plan to come again!

I was looking for some good Jamaican food since I left New York and until now I have been coming up disappointed. But I decided to try out this little place and to my surprise their food hit the spot. I tried their oxtail and curry goat and it was very delicious! I will be returning to this restaurant to satisfy my crave whenever I decided not cook for sure and I will recommend them to my friends and family.

We got takeout from Claire’s Korner and it was DELICIOUS! I had the jerk chicken and it was perfectly done with plenty of flavor and heat. Everything was good that came with it. The cabbage, the plantains, and the rice were all absolutely fantastic. My wife got the curried goat and really enjoyed that as well. Our kids devoured beef patties like nobody’s business. We’ll definitely become Claire’s Korner regulars after this.

The food was amazing. Her jerk chicken is very good because she actually seasons the food. The red beans and rice has a hint of cream of the coconut which gives it a full falvor of home. I stayed to dine in but this location is mostly take out; it only has two tables. However the food and service were good. I can’t wait to come back to taste the oxtail

I loved it at Claire’s. Got to chat with Claire herself and she was very friendly. Delicious and affordable. Two huge entrees and Jamaican sodas for $ 22. Was very tiny and every local seemed to know one another.

Oh my! Oh my! Yum! I have driven past this place daily going to and from work for years. Always meaning to go in but for one reason or another never did. I am so glad i finally remembered! I am no specialist in jamaican food but i do like tasty foods of all kinds. And the dinners we had a Claire’s Korner were EXTREMEly tasty… finger linking bone sucking don’t miss a drop of any sauce good. We had ¼ white jerk chicken dinner and a brown chicken stew dinner. A dinner includes cabbage. Yum! We had rice and beans. Yum! And plantains. Those were very good. I kinda prefer them a bit more decadently sweet but i am not complaining… though i wanted more of them… i decided not to overdo it and did not order extra plantains… i will next time. It is a hole in the wall. Simple seating. All takeout containers. 2 tables w 4chairs each but as far as my eyes could discern tbe place seemed clean. This is for sure my new go to place for a home-cooked meal that isn’t! I will be back, Claire!

Enjoyed the cabbage but jerk chicken was just ok. 3D’s on the west side blows this out of the water– well worth the trip. The cake was really good!

Pass this place all the time and finally decided to check it out. By far the best Jamaican food in Evanston/Rogers park. Everything is great! My new go to

THE best jerk chicken anywhere! Have it with a Ting(carbonated grapefruit juice) …“It’s the real Ting!” and have a piece of carmel cake for dessert. Really really great jerk chicken.(did I mention that?)

Absolutely fantastic! I stop by this small, two-table restaurant for lunch this afternoon. Claire was very welcoming and was happy to make a few recommendations when I asked. I’ve had oxtail and jerk chicken elsewhere before, so I settled on the curry goat to try something new. The goat meat just fell off the bones. The trifecta of goat meat, curry and rice was fantastic. There was a hint of spice in the curry, just enough to let you know it’s there but not overpowering at all. I need to come back here outside of work hours so I can enjoy a beer with it!

Just got back from Tobago a few weeks ago and wanted to experience some carib food. This place gets the food right, but the prices are way too high for what you get. Head over to the jamaican place on Howard instead. Food is just as good, but you pay much less.

I live a couple doors down from Claires, and I can tell I am going to be a regular! The patties(pastry with spiced meat inside) are fantastic, I go most often just to get those as a snack. I have also had the curry chicken, and the jerk chicken, both with beans, rice, and plantains. Both are flavorful, incredibly tender, and delicious. My only warning, is everything is cooked on the bone, so just be a little careful of small bones when eating. I am also hooked on the Jamaican ginger been that they carry. I hear the fried chicken is great, and I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. This place is tiny, with only 2 small tables, so I wouldn’t suggest going with a large party, but they do take out,(everything is served in take out containers actually) and I think they might cater. Friendly staff, great prices for the amount of food you get, I recommend it!

For Christmas two of my friends gave me ‘Eat This, Not That’ and ‘The Return of the Jedi’. OK, guys, I read you loud and clear. The ladies don’t enjoy fatties and if you somehow catch and imprison one, there’s a good chance she’ll strangle you with her leash. You don’t say. Of course, that made me think of fried chicken. Wednesdays and Fridays, Claire serves up fried chicken in her little two-table shop on the corner of Emerson and Dodge, due west of downtown Evanston. It’s the third shop from the corner, right after a dry cleaner’s and a beauty parlour. Well, tonight was Wednesday night so I hopped on the 93 California/Dodge bus from skank-ridden, oh-so-terrifying Albany Park and 25 minutes later stepped into the Korner’s fragrant interior. ‘Well, haven’t seen you in a long time!’ boomed Claire from behind the counter. ‘Merry Christmas!‘ It’s nice to know that some ladies do appreciate fatties. Sad news was to follow. It’d been a slow day and she hadn’t fried up any chicken! Moral: call ahead. She had warned me before, so I had no one to blame but myself. No fear, the curry goat can hardly be considered a mere runner-up, so delicious it is. Meltingly tender chunks of goat fall off the bone as you dredge it in the rich curry sauce. Served with fried plantains, beans and rice, and steamed cabbage, even a small order makes an hugely satisfying meal. If you’re feeling greedy(or Huttish), throw in a beef patty. This consists of seasoned ground beef encased in a pastry shell, somewhat like an empanada. To spice things up, add a few dashes of Grace hot pepper sauce. And to cool it down, crack open a bottle of Ting(a grapefruit soda common in the Caribbean) or a Jamaican Ginger Beer(100% UNnatural but tastes far more gingery than the ginger ale we get here). The menu offers up pigeon peas and rice but I’ve only seen red beans and rice, which is still very tasty. The nondescript ‘steamed cabbage’ is not your basic mushed veg. Instead it is cooked in spiced coconut milk and is quite delicious. Those of you familiar with Caribbean or Brazilian cooking have probably had this. I’m also a fan of the oxtail ‘brown stew’, which looks exactly as it’s described but tastes a million times better. The oxtail dinner is also accompanied by plantains, beans and rice, and steamed cabbage. For dessert, there is only one option, which is caramel cake. But it’s a great option. It’s a good butter cake, neither too moist nor too dry, with a thin layer of sticky caramel in the middle and a thin coat over the exterior. I’d take this, and feed all that fancy, overwrought baked diabetes from most other bakeries to my pet Rancor any day. The space is tiny, with a grand total of 8 chairs. But it only means you’re that much more enveloped in Claire’s good cheer. It appears that most of the business comes in the form of takeaways, although delivery is offered. OK, it’s now time for my nap. If you want more details, please take it up with my Talk Droid.
