Very good dinner of seared ahi tuna, vegetables, and rice. Good wine menu as well. Partner had linguine with prawns and scallops. Good waiter, good food. The only improvement could be in the bread platter, but that is a quibble.

The Oberon is an upscale type place to eat. You can go casual as I saw a few people dinning in with everyday clothes. I went on a Wednesday evening so there wasn’t much happening. My waiter was very nice and catered to my needs. I was from out of town and asked for some tourist tips and he was more than glad to provide. The food tasted great and the whole evening here was not as expensive as I thought it would be(we ordered drinks and burgers). My Moscow mule tasted great. It tasted as though it had a delicious ginger beer. Overall I would say to check this place out. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it.

Five stars for this place! The food is by far some of the best in Humboldt County. The atmosphere is amazing and nostalgic. The service is better than the food and every time we come we want Andre to be our waiter because he is by far the best waiter that we’ve come across in any of the restaurants in Humboldt County. We really want to rate him five stars! If you’re looking for a place and Oldtown Eureka definitely go to Oberon

I love the rich woody feel of this restaurant. I have eaten here on several occasions over the last two years and it keeps getting better! Our server Andre was perfect. I ordered the evening special sablefish and it was so yummy with its balanced spicy sauce. My dinner guests loved their meals of mango chicken and the seafood kabobs coupled with the pear salad. Not a drop was left on any plate. Service was attentive and timely. Thanks Oberon staff for a lovely evening!

I LOVE Oberon!!! Everything about this place makes me very happy. The staff is always attentive and fun. The bartenders know how to make a fine drank, the chefs rock! Once I had the prime rib dinner and I nearly cried on it’s perfection. I will never forget that nite, Nick(pretty sure thats his name, owner and son) you truly are a meat master They also use seasonal, local, organic ingredients. They don’t put that on the menu, which I think is sweet. Food should just be organic and local, no need to advertise it ;) this place is great for a mid day cocktail to a fancy dinner date. I always feel welcome here. Dang, I think I might have dinner there tonite after writing this review, I’m starting get hungry!

This is a classic old town Eureka location. A nice ambiance. I arrived early for the dinner hour so only about 6 tables eating. Very prompt service of course. The long bar is classic wife usual selections. I just had a beer but enough good choices of drafts and bottles to choose from. The real treat was the clam chowder. I hate a chowder that has been thickened to the consistency of a heavy sauce. Not this. It was a perfect broth with enough of a roux start to adds creaminess. The flavor was perfect with fresh clams and some added grilled pancetta. The potatoes were just right, fully cooked but not falling apart. My mistake was getting a cup and not a bowl. Next time. I just had a steak and baked potato which were perfectly good. The sautéed green beans were terrific. Not over cooked and a nice garlic touch. I’m not a local but I will come back on a future visit.

It looks fancy, but it’s actually very casual, though the prices remain fancy, while the service is still casual. It’s hard to define this place. Huge room. The food wasn’t special(mine was kind of tasteless. Thank God for ketchup!) and the waiter was obviously busy that he seemed to be in a rush. You can get better food and better service for the same amount of money. It’s just ok. Great location, tho.

Update on our most recent visit for a nice relatively-quiet breakfast. Had friends in town visiting so we went in with a group of 4 and were seated right away. The Steak and Eggs which I had raved about had gone up from $ 15 to $ 26+ in price. Still a decent size steak, but no longer the value that brought us in in the first place. To add insult to injury, but both of ours came out cool and rare. Not even remotely close to MR. For a «steak» place, this was not their finest hour. Not ready to give up on the place but certainly won’t be back for a bit. On the positive, the scones are still fantastic and the servers are nice.

Service is excellent! Sarah & Andre greeted us promptly and were very nice. They showed outstanding customer service and very professional. Best service we’ve experienced in Humbolt County. The Chef Dustin is amazing! Food was delicious last night(Tuesday). This was our first time here and will be our new regular spot!

When my friend and I entered the restaurant the first thing we noticed was how full it was and how no one had their food. We decided to stay non the less. We were told we could only sit at the bar and I pointed out and avaivble high table and the host said that was fine but people usually don’t like sitting there(later I realized it was proably because the table was lobsided and had paper towel shoved under it to keep it steady) After we were seated we then realized there was ONE waitress for the entire restaurant so I am not going to talk bad about the«service» because I feel it was not the waitresses fault the restaustant was short staffed. She came over and when I ordered a drink she tried to deter me from ordering it looked me up and down and said«you know that drink is really strong» like thank you miss I can read the menu and that is what I want. We ordered the mango chicken 20 $ and a burger with fries $ 12. Had to request bread and water after 30 min waiting. My friend ordered her burger medium well and it came out almost rare. The sauted spinach on my chicken plate had chunks of raw garlic in it that over powered my whole dish the chicken juice seeped into the polenta on my plate making it soggy and almost inedible. When my friend complained about her burger the waitress instructed her to put it it on a seperate plate and she would have the cook throw it back on the grill… not to ‘re make the burger…(and also leaving her fries to get cold while she waited for her burger to be fixed) Weird. We paid 60 $ for a 20 $ meal we could have got at applebees

Well Roy its simple the food was not very good. Also, it was my girlfriend not my daughter. If you had more carefully read my post then you’d have seen that I was pleased with the wait staff. I was never rude. Coming from a service standpoint it’s incredibly unprofessional to have responded in that manner. Especially coming from the owner of the establishment.

It was hidden in the inside streets. We bumped into this beautiful looking place when looking for lunch and it was late Sunday, on our way back from Redwood National Park to SF. The lady who attended us was very friendly, considerate and patient. We were 5 of us and 2 of us were vegetarian, knowing this was a seafood/steakhouse kind of restaurant, I expected her to get a little frustrated. My vegetarian friends were literally making/customizing their own sandwich which was not in the menu at all! She was very kind and did her best to make sure they got what they wanted. Now, the food was delicious, good looking and fresh! We went for a Fish Taco, chicken Parm sandwich, vegetarian pesto sandwich(customized), portobello sandwich and something else(I don’t recall). And yeah, don’t forget to try the sides — onion rings and cucumber salad; they were out of the world! The food was on time and tasted great, we were well attended and I even enjoyed the décor!

Had the fish tacos and chicken pesto sandwich for«linner» on our way up to Klamath. It was a great experience and the food is delicious– especially the sweet potato fries! Definitely a great spot and the drinks look good too. The service was excellent as well overall 2 thumbs up

Been going here for years, but no longer. Drinks aren’t worth half the price. Food does not come out how it is ordered. The staff does nothing about it and gets offended if you complain. The wait time it utterly ridiculous and we gave been told that it will take an extra 20 to 30 minutes if they are slightly busy. Don’t waste your time and money…

Oh my goodness. This place has horrible service, the turnover has resulted in really poor experiences. We used to enjoy this place, but now we’ve given it enough chances to never go there again. In a small town, we want to give the benefit of the doubt. However, in this case, we’ve tried and tried to no avail. The cocktails are never the same twice. The food has been cold and poor quality while the service is far below sub-par. In particular, when Andre was our server, he failed to fulfill our request, mismanaged time, and delivered an inferior customer experience. I’ve had this server three times, he is neither hard-working, compassionate or genuine. Honestly, I get better customer service at Burger King.

We are in town, just for one night. We luckily found this gem of a restaurant. Our waiter, Andrew was friendly, professional and informative. Top of that he comes from my home town… the Bronx. The food was delicious, fresh and served promptly. I don’t know if we will be passing through here again, would highly recommend it to anyone else who wants good food in Eureka…

This is a very nice looking place that is so close to great. The menu has nice selections. However– we were there for dinner at 730, out of prime rib(only served on Fri, sat). 3 of us just wanted water to drink. Couldn’t get a refill. One ordered a beer also couldn’t get a refill. The staff was busy rolling silverware on the dining room on a 4-top The food– ordered NY strip medium, it arrived rare rare– didn’t see a server of any kind for 22 min. Too late to send back. 2nd dish — herb crusted pork tender loin. They really should and some seasoning. So very bland 3rd dish– grilled red snapper, arrived pan fried with zero seasoning. It’s a bland fish to begin with so a little salt and pepper really work. Perhaps adding some onion??? Nice piece of fish. Poorly presented. Like I said when I began. Very nice place that is a manager away from great.
