They should replace the staff members who make eating here feel more like a practical joke than a dining experience.

Best gnocchi I ever had! Not a pile of potato line it usually is. Fresh vegetables and yummy broth. Michael, the bartender, was perfectly attentive without being overbearing. I look forward to coming back!

We were going to give this place 4 stars, until we received the check. They had a sign out front advertising $ 1 oysters starting at 5pm with no end time, and we went in a little after 6pm. We went in for the oysters and were disappointed to see we were charged $ 15 for 6 oysters instead of $ 6, that could have been another drink! The waitress informed us that it was only for happy hour and was not on Fridays, but the sign didn’t say anything about that. Felt a bit shady, sign should have been taken down if the special was not for Friday and had already ended. Won’t be recommending this on my blog.

I don’t usually leave poor reviews but in this case I feel it’s my duty. I was excited to try something new and love creative mixtures of flavors. Unfortunately, this food was barely edible and was overpriced. I tried some of my friends’ food to see if maybe it was just my entrée that was bad; it was not! It is hard to mess up mashed potatoes, salad, flat bread pizza and french fries but they managed it! Even the bread was stale. They offer 3 types of bread; the only one that is edible is the cheap, store bought bread. They didn’t offer real butter either. Our party spent $ 300 there, and our water glasses were never refilled; no one asked if we needed anything and we had to wait 15 minutes for our check. This came after the waitress told me she could not give me a separate check and we needed to hurry. We came here for a very special family graduation dinner. I am so glad we could spend time together, but this place was the worst!!!

Just happened to stop by this place on my way back to San Francisco. What a find! This place has a chef that knows what he is doing. They are turning out specials like pork belly, bone marrow, etc. Food was great, service was even better. These people are giving 5 star service(I work star 5 star hotel and this service was perfect). They had a great wine and beer list as well as cocktails. If you are in the area, give it a try!

I had the New York steak and it was very good along with the potatoes and asparagus. I do think the steak could have been a better cut however but that’s only a small issue and it was still good. Kenny the waiter was awesome and he deserves a raise.

I haven’t come for a full meal yet, but we came for happy hour and were very pleased! The beet salad was perfection and the white pizza was really good. They have a new menu and a new chef so if you’ve eaten here in the past, give it another try. I’ll definitely be back.

20% TIP added on automatically, by management, to ensure waitstaff is well-compensated for their time. I have never seen this done for groups of fewer than five persons; the workers seem happy and provide very good service. The food is usually good, and there are some creative and tasty drinks I have not had outside of San Francisco; nice atmosphere.

Good service and the food was very good. My husband had the flatbread with artichokes. He raved about the perfect amount of garlic, cheese and artichokes. I wasn’t too hungry so I ordered some veggie dishes. Both were excellent. The wilted spinach salad was a good size. It had a nice blend of flavored with the figs, warm bacon dressing, feta and tomatoes. The asparagus salad was excellent. They do have homemade pasta which sounded delicious but we weren’t looking for a heavy meal. We would come back again if we’re ever in Eureka again.

This place was awesome! I came here back in January to celebrate my birthday and if you’re looking for unique dining in Eureka this is your place. Myself and a few friends came in and were helped immediately by staff. We ordered drinks which were awesome and beautifully presented. We ended up ordering sautéed Brussel sprouts, butter squash gnocchi with chèvre, polenta in a mushroom sauce and garlic fries. Everything is seasonal so what I had might not be still available but it was all still amazing and makes me want to know what they might have available year round. Definitely a place to go if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary realm of Eureka dining.

I eat here a few times a month and I’m never disappointed. The food is always delicious and creative. The specials are always a must try for me. The service is great as well. It’s a perfect date spot. It’s an excellent place to drop in for drinks. They have an extensive selection of tequila. The bar tender, Mike, is very attentive and knowledgeable.

Came in during a drive from LA to Seattle on a recommendation from a local for their amazing polenta(which I did not get to) and had the squash gnocchi. Absolutely amazing flavors, and polite service. Try this dish!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The southern fried chicken was good but was a little on the bland side and could use a little more seasoning to make it southern style. The classic Caesar was great. Go made gnocchi was good. It held the sauce nicely and the pancetta was a good compliment. They have a nice cocktail menu and we will return to try their pizzas.

I’ll throw my two cents in here. Terrific cocktails, I tried one of theirs and I asked for one of my favorites, whiskey sour. Dynamite. Had the Polenta Crostini with mushroom sauce as an app. Very nice. Had the southern fried chicken. It was spot on. Overall, definitely will come back.

This is a great restaurant in Eureka. A great find. Kenny, our server, was friendly, helpful and efficient. We had the halibut and Fried chicken and they were both excellent choices. The restaurant is a nice atmosphere and the staff is friendly and helpful.

One of our top 5 places to eat in Humboldt County. The service never disappoints, and the food is great 95% of the time. The other 5% it’s just good. But the wonderful service more than makes up for it. I can’t believe this place isn’t busier, but I’m not complaining. :) We always feel welcome here, and the menu has a lot of tasty and fun items.

I’ve been meaning to give 511 a try for a while now and this past Sunday evening proved to be the day for it. Located on 2nd Street in old town this modern eatery is both elegant and casual. We arrived shortly after opening and the place was quite. We were seated promptly and our waiter, Kenny was professional, friendly and engaging. He made us feel welcome and appreciated. I had read reviews mentioning him by name, and as luck would have it — this young man lived up to my expectations. We had great conversations about the wine list, its vintners and our personal favorites. He was well versed on the menu and made suggestions when asked. We started with a dozen of the local raw Bucksport oysters fresh out of Humboldt bay — offered a couple of ways — I took mine on the half shelf; these little germs were in one word — delicious. A dozen was not enough. 27 $ a dozen. They offer small plates, as well as entrees — we opted for a couple of the small plates; the Roasted Brussel sprouts with smoked bacon and shaved Gruyère is a great treat and quite filling enough for 2 or 3 to split with other small plates. As well, we chose one of the specials for the evening — a Wild mushroom Polenta Crustini — it was light and flavorful and topped with wonderful fresh mushrooms, I got a few bits — as it was so tasty my wife kept most of it to herself, her words — some of the best grilled Polenta ever. And we decided to try one of their brick oven fired pizzas — my wife loves basic cheese pizzas, so we went for their Basic Cheese brick fire — with the house marinara and three cheeses — Romano, Parmesan and Mozzarella. It was good, not great. The crust had great flavor and a nice char browning to it, but the marinara sauce was lacking — again it was a good pizza, not a wow let’s order this again pizza. The small but tight wine list offering reds, whites and sparklings in a wide range of price points has some real winners on it at this writing, though subject to change. After perusing the list and a brief conversation with Kenny, I opted for the Joseph Jewel Pinot Noir 2010 Russian River @ 54 $ it was the gem of the evening and a real treat at only 200 cases available, my recommendation and undervalued. Our second bottle, we went with a Macphail Anderson Valley 2011 pinot noir @ 58 $ also a small run vintage as well, it was a wonderful Pinot and I’m positive if I had not drank the Joseph Jewel first, it would have seemed splendid — but that did not happen and my hands down fav for the night was the Joseph Jewel. For dessert we finished with a Humboldt Cypress Grove Chevre Cheesecake, it was one of the best cheesecakes I have had, the goat cheese finish on the cheesecake was an interesting and tasty twist from what one traditionally expects. My wife went for the Duck egg crème burlee, that we had heard so much about as it is one of her favorite desserts — it was delicious and she said very fluffy, rich and creamy and that it was some of the best she had had. All in all — this is a solid eatery and bar, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars except for the pizza was that off in comparison to the rest of the meal and overall experience. Well worth a visit and we plan to return again for dinner. There are several entrees on the menu that look worth a try, A dozen local raw oysters, two small plates, a pizza, two outstanding bottles of wine and two very good desserts — 225 $ with a generous tip, not cheap but well worth it, and we will be back. A Solid 4 Star eatery. 207
