This place was amazing! I dropped 500.00 easy with all the great basement bargains! It is a must stop for those who love North Face and gear! You definitely want to make this a stop on your trip to RMNP!

We love the Estes Park Mountain Shop! Lots of great gear available, not to mention rentals for our friends and family who are visiting. My brother in law rented hiking spikes for $ 8. They also offer snowshoes, snow boots, skis, snowboards, and hiking boots for rent, among other things. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

If you are going to book a fly fishing trip make sure you request a guide that asks what YOU expect from the experience and not what HE wants to do. Our guide in July must have assumed that we were experienced fly fishermen(even though I emailed them earlier and told him we weren’t) and that we wanted to go wading in water that was rushing so fast that you could barely stand up in let alone manage a fly rod. He seemed to not understand why we were having a hard time just because he has spent the last 30 years wading in the Big Thompson. He eventually just took the rod away from me and let me just try my best to walk up the river. We caught a few fish but it could have been so much better if he had only ask a few questions instead of just starting the day off by saying«we are going to do some aggressive wading today» kind of a waste of $ 200

Fantastic outdoor gear shop. Service is incredibly friendly, and selection is solid. I was planning to climb at Lumpy Ridge for a couple days and asked if they rented guide books. They did not, but thought it was a great idea and set it up so I was able to walk out 10 minutes later with a guidebook for $ 5 a day instead of dropping $ 30 on something I would only use twice.

I spent months trying to figure out who I’d like to book a hiking trip with, so after making calls and checking websites, I decided to take a gamble with Estes Park Mountain Shop. My boyfriend and I ended up doing a 4 hour hike and had Mike Caldwell as a guide. His knowledge of the Rocky Mountain National Park, exercise physiology, Estes Park, and wildlife really made the difference. This was by far one of the highlights of our trip. Mike knew of some undeveloped, less crowded trails to some popular destinations, which we appreciated because the park was packed. Highly recommended.

Estes Park Mountain Shop is the best one stop source in Estes Park for all of your outdoor needs & activities. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly with a sincere desire for great customer service. The prices are very reasonable & the quality of their products is excellent. Jonathan, our fishing guide for the last three years is not only knowledgeable about the local trout, the best fishing spots as well as the various techniques for the varying locations & conditions. Jonathan not only helps you catch trout, but teaches you the why & how of catching fish. I have done business with other fly shops in the area, but EPMS is by far the best.

What was I thinking trying to hike one of the tallest, most impressive mountain ranges in the country in my crappy, worn-out, running shoes? Thank you for being there when we, the seriously underprepared tourists from California, needed you most. Silly me thinking, «Oh since California is getting nice and warm, that must be the case across the US!» The shop saved our asses with snow shoes at $ 5/day and hiking boots at $ 15/day. Service is quick and efficient, and they of course, have everything you’ll need for any hike at RMNP.

The guys in here are super friendly and helpful. In addition, the prices are amazingly reasonable. You can also count on them to be honest in their recommendations and accommodating of special requests. Why go anywhere else?

Local recommended this place and I am glad they did. I literally saw the same mittens for half the price than Telluride. Snow shoe rentals available for $ 5/day! Cool hippy staff.

Very friendly, knowledgable staff. They knew weather, and road conditions and what recreation would be best for the day. Over 4 days we rented snowshoes, cross country skis and poles, and rock climbed in their indoor walls. And spent less than $ 10 a person for each activity. Super happy with the place and bought a shirt just to share in advertising for them.

Estes Park Mtn Shop made our trip easier and incredible. We knew we would be hiking and also wanted to bike, so instead of paying the money to pack our gear, we rented bikes and hiking poles from the shop at a very reasonable price. The guys there were extremely helpful and nice, and they offer so many products, tours, and rentals. Don’t worry about packing gear… check out Estes Park Mtn. Shop!

Amazing day we rented our bikes and road along the trail. Riding into town was faster by bike than by car this weekend! Thank you so much for letting us rent!

Had the best rock climbing experience with our guide Bob. We chose to do the 6 hour climb, and not only did we get to climb and repel, we actually learned how to do it all ourselves. After the climb I feel very confident that we could go out and do a climb on our own now. Would definitely recommend, it was a very personal group, only 3 of us, so we really got to get involved.

After a few bad experiences with REI I ended up here in the Rocky Mountains store and I had a blast. Their Rentals are g highest Quality and sharply priced, their staff is knowledgeable and has great humor and a friendly flair and their products se for a reasonable price. Would almost move over here… Admitting; not only for this store

The folks here are great! My husband and I were in Estes Park for the weekend, and we were contemplating renting some poles and going fishing. Then I found the reviews on here about the fly fishing tours, and we figured we would check it out. We signed up for the 4hr evening tour. Jeff was our guide, and he was awesome! It was just the two of us with Jeff, so we got all the attention we needed. After showing us the basics, we were in the river casting. My husband caught two trout, within the first hour! I on the other hand, wasn’t having the best of luck, but Jeff didn’t let me give up! We went to a few different spots, and I was hooking fish, but they kept getting away… There were 5 minutes left in our tour and Jeff told us we were going to stay until I caught something. He went to pack some stuff in the car, and we kept casting. As soon as he walked away, I got a hit! I ended up catching 2 trout as well! We got to hold our fish and take pictures with them before we set them free. We really had an awesome time. Jeff and the folks at the Mountain Shop were great. If we’re back in the area we will definitely swing by for another fishing tour. Highly recommend it!!!

On our family outing to RMNP, my 13 year old step son was adamant about fly fishing. EP Mountain Shop was recommended by our condo manager, and had reasonable prices. Boy, was I happy! First of all, neither one of us(myself and my son) had ever fly fished. Our guide, Jeff, was not at all daunted by this. After getting suited up in waders and boots, he drove us about 30 minutes down the Big Thompson River. Jeff gave great hands on instruction, but was quick to let us try things ourselves. He did a wonderful job with my son, and I felt very comfortable with the instruction and the supervision. The spot he took us to was quiet, with lots of wildlife, including rainbows and brown trout. Overall, we would be quick to book a second trip with Jeff(if only we had more time…)

Kicked off my adventure week in CO by lining up a 4 hour rock climbing lesson through Estes Park Mountain Shop. Being a first time rock climber, I had little idea what to expect other than getting humbled by some boulders(which definitely happened). My instructor Glenn took me up to Prospect Mountain — a 5 minute drive from the shop, which took 10 minutes due to 50 elk jamming up the streets(picture here: ). Long story short, this experience was AWESOME. Glenn taught me the fundamentals of climbing, how to properly tie the safety knots, gave me options on how challenging I wanted the climbs to get, and we even went«summitting» so I could say I made it to the top of the mountain(picture: ). The cost for 4 hours for 1 person is $ 119…and for groups it’s marginally more expensive(like an extra $ 20 per person). It’s a super reasonable deal for friends and families to experience an adrenaline rush and unparalleled views of the Rockies together. Final point: the shop itself has about everything you could want. A huge rock climbing wall, tons of gear at reasonable prices, and a well-stocked refreshment area of health snacks and energy drinks for your climbs.

WOW! This store offered the«cherry on top» for our tour of Colorado. From the second we set foot in the store, we knew we’d come to the right place. They have a huge indoor climbing wall with, what looked to me, like local kids have a blast. The staff is above and beyond pleasant. They were very inviting and generous with their time. We knew we wanted to spend our last day in Colorado special, but we weren’t sure what was the absolute best way to do it. We were lucky to tumble on FLYFISHINGLESSONS! Since it was off season(mid October) we got a discounted rate for a half day of fly fishing before our flight took off out of Denver. They suited us up in the waiters, armed us with a fly rod and reel and sent us out with our host and tour guide for the morning. Our tour guide was steady and knowledgeable. He gave us the knowledge we really wanted and needed to enjoy fly fishing the Big Thompson, and as an added bonus: our tour guide was a photographer. We are now using one of our picture from the trip as an engagement photo for our«save the dates’. Pleas don’t miss out on this great opportunity to learn something new with the guidance and knowledge of someone that’ll make sure you do it the right way by learning. This way you can take those lessons home and enjoy a new hobby like us!
