Beautiful natural lake that was here when the white man came. Have been relaxing by it for a few days now and have seen elk, beavers, deer, groundhogs, ducks, geese, etc. Late fall is the best time to come before the heavy brunt of tourists arrive in Estes Park, Colorado.

Gorgeous and relatively clean. Best place for fire works in July anywhere.

Fishing here was amazing. Not so much for the fact that we caught any fish. We caught ZERO fish. Its the«pinch yourself this is freakin amazing» view of the Rocky Mountains that makes Estes Lake rock. I’d list the view from the lake as one of my favorite views in the world. Seriously Breathtaking. If you’re visiting the Rocky Mountains add this to your list of things not to miss and then thank me:-)

We took a trip up to Estes Park this past weeked and decided to give this place a try while it was free(no license reqd) fishing weekend in Colorado. You’ll find the lake as soon as you drive into Estes and signs will guide you to fishing areas. I have to say there is generally a fee to park and fish here as it is a «stocked» lake, and I’d otherwise fish somewhere else, but the view was to die for and the lake itself is quite beautiful. We didn’t catch a single thing although we did get a couple of bites, but man, given it’s a stocked lake, we should have had fish lining up on the shore to be fed… oh, well, maybe next time.

Holy heck is this beautiful! A couple of my friends and I took a day trip up to Estes Park to go hiking and we stopped here for a few minutes for a driving break and I just couldn’t get over how beautiful this place is. The pictures that I have really don’t do this place justice. And the chipmunks are adorable! They will come right up to you! I have the most amazing picture of one. :)

Came across this beautiful lake while driving from Denver to Estes Park. It’s a large lake with free parking on the right hand side. Apparently, if you turn off the main road and go straight, you have to have some sort of registration on your car to proceed. Just park on the right and you’ll be fine. There are a few picnic tables under a pavilion for people to eat and maybe even BBQ on a portable grill. Maybe worth a 5 minute break on your way to Estes Park. Saw a few people hike but mainly hanging out with family and fishing.

GORGEOUS. The most appealing attraction of Estes Park hands down. I love the jogging path surrounding this lake– perfect 5 mile loop makes a nice option to exercise if you’re not into the whole hiking thing. Plenty of benches to rest on or spots to fish the lake. Do not miss walking a bit of the circular path, it was the highlight of my whole trip.
