First off, we had a little bit of trouble finding this place. Maybe it’s because we were pretty tired(that day we had to bring our puppies to Salamanca for their spaying/neutering, & had been back and forth between there and Ellicottville since 9am), but I did notice that there weren’t really any other signs to tell you where the place was, save for one that was on the street corner. I would have appreciated an arrow pointing in the direction of where we’re supposed to go, or even park — we just sort of guessed! But besides all of that, we actually had a pretty nice time there! We still had a couple of hours to kill before we had to pick up the puppies, so we got ourselves a table and just hung around for a while. My father and aunt had a couple of drinks, and we also ordered some appetizers(pizza logs for me!), which were pretty delicious! My father also ordered one of their burgers, and he seemed pretty pleased about it. I never had dinner since I was still full from lunch, but I did have a slice of cheesecake, which was probably the best piece of cheesecake I’ve ever had if I’m being honest here. I’m not sure why this place seems to have a bad rap on Unilocal right now, because it seemed like a pretty hip place to be! I’m sure it’s busier during the winter when all the skiers are heading to Ellicottville, but the service was fair and pleasant(they didn’t seem too bothered by the fact that we were sitting around for two or three hours, and holding off on ordering any food), and I would probably return if I were down there after hiking at Allegany, or visiting the Antique Mall.

I am writing this and giving it four stars because it is better WAY than the two stars it has been earning. Food is good. Beer list is good. Prices are fair. Service can be spotty but almost everyplace is EVL has spotty service when they are slammed. The BBQ is well done. This place does not overreach with its menu. If youre in the mood for BBQ in EVL you won’t be disappointed.
