Nice brunch selection and decent execution. I ordered the Americano and was pleased with the«super runny yolks» on my poached eggs, but the potatoes and bacon were on the cold side. That said, flavor and texture were there for each, and call me old fashioned, but the toast is nice to suck up the yolks with. With the chips and salsa they give you, it’s an o.k. value for brunch, especially since Grille 620 across the street charges more. Condiments, however, including just salt and pepper, would be nice on the tables. (Pleasant waitress as well.)

Went here on a Monday night for dinner and the place was empty. I was a little apprehensive about the place since it was so empty, but thought to myself«well it is 7pm on a Monday night…» I should have trusted my gut. We were seated right away and the waiter brought us waters. It didn’t take long for us to make up our minds as to what we wanted to order; Monday’s special is fajitas so i ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and my boyfriend ordered a burrito. I’ve had tastier, more seasoned food at Chevy’s. The waiter came by once after we got our food but seemed to disappear after that. He never came by to refill our waters and when we were ready for the bill he was nowhere to be found. We eventually flagged down another waitress and let her know we were ready for the bill. When the waiter finally came by with our bill he said he was in the kitchen talking with the owners… Well needless to say we won’t be going back.

Been here a few times. Took my son who is a vegetarian. Several choices for him on the menu. There were two large parties and two small service tables. I saw at least 4 wait-staff. Service was AWFUL. Waitress didn’t ask me for my drink order but asked only my son. He waited forever for his margarita, nothing special. I asked for a diet coke. She forgot, I finally asked again and she again took forever to get me a simple fountain drink. Son asked for hot sauce, had to reminder her after several minutes. Finally brought it to the table after a great delay. Chips were rather greasy and after the first layer of nice chips, the rest of the basket was crumbs, not dipping sized at all. She did bring us a new basket that was much better… no charge for new basket. I have been there when they have charged $ 2.00 for the second basket of chips(needed a second basket with the guacamole, had to pay extra for the chips!!!) No need to return in my opinion. Guacamole was good but a little bland this time and we had asked for it to be spicy.

So we went on a Monday night for dinner and got the steak fajitas because they were on special. They were ok. Didn’t know they charge $ 2.00 for cheese would of done without it. Also the steak was on the chewy side. The homemade guacamole was the best part of the meal.

For the price I really was expecting a lot better food. We had the steak taco, the steak fajita, chicken soup and the salmon. First round of the chip and salsa is free and those are actually pretty good. The chips is freshly made and it is thicker cut. I enjoyed it. The steak taco is pretty good. In fact, it is better than the steak fajita. The steak seems to be more chewy in the fajita than the taco. The salmon was well cooked however under seasoned. In fact, the picture and the actual fish look really pretty but it taste bland! I was very disappointed and asked the waitress to bring me some house sauce to go with the fish. The cilantro rice was good. The night we went it was not busy but I found it annoying that the waitress did not bother to solicit my feedback on the fish and did not seem to care.

Honestly the review for this establishment would be pages and pages long. This is one of the only restaurants I have ever had to have my entire experience comped. My girlfriends and I went for happy hour and from the moment we sat down the experience was a nightmare. We had a server, Kiernan, who was great but it was his first shift solo!!! That should give you enough information. I will tell you this, the table next to us was sat AFTER us, got all their food(drinks, apps, and meals) before us and finished eating before we got our apps. Clearly something went wrong! Our food was freezing when we got it and then when we told them they remade our food without asking us so then we had to take leftovers home! When we finally saw a manager, we had a list of 10 – 12 things that went wrong that evening. Now we know people have bad days

One star for the service but the food was sorely lacking!!! Tilapia dish was suffocated by the tomato sauce, and underneath I’m not sure whether it was blackened but it sure seemed burnt. His dish was the Dos XX brisket and was a tasteless and bland dish. Sorry guys but we won’t be back.

Food is amazing. Problem here is that«good luck finding it». Service was good. In new development so you need to look for it. It’s not ever packed so it’s easy to get a table and the service was fast. Why 3 stars… probably not riding out there again just for that… but if you’re out there, it will be good eats. There are also a couple restaurants right there so may change your mind once there.

We went there Friday, Sept. 4 for dinner. I had been there a few times this summer with friends for lunch and wanted my husband to try it for dinner. We have a favorite Mexican restaurant but wanted to try a new place. I have to tell you we were very disappointed. the food was fair and the service was terrible. We asked to sit in the dining room, the outside seating was full and the bar area was full. The dining room was EMPTY. Our waitress finally came to take our orders and it was like we were an afterthought!, it was very cold in the dining room so we asked to move to the bar. By this time we were finishing our second basket of chips and working through our sangria. the waitress never checked on us. Our food finally came, delivered by the manager(I think). The manager checked on us but by this time we just wanted to finish our food and get out of there. There were two bartenders and neither said a word to us. Our waitress came when we were nearly finishing our meal and asked if we needed anything, maybe she was preparing our bill. She didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or anything. like I said. we were an afterthought. Needless to say we will not return. we will stick to our favorite Mexican restaurant… El Azteca.

This place was pretty disappointing. I wont make this one too long and drawn out. We went in for happy hour, 3 of us, and we were given one menu, even after I asked for additional menus, we still onl had the one. I almost felt as though they didnt want us to stay and eat. We had to ask the bartender what the specials were for happy hour, twice because the first time she only told us about the drinks. Also, the air conditioning was on really low. The drink were ok, I got the house margarita with mango flavoring. The chips and salsa, the first round is free, every one after that tac on 2.00. The chips were over cooked and the salsa was just ok. Grill 620 is just across the street, a much better bite for your buck. I wont be back here.

I went last weekend for dinner on Sunday night with my family. The restaurant was almost empty And the service was not great. Our waiter was using a tablet to take the orders and was really struggling with it. I don’t know if it wasn’t working or he didn’t know how to use it, but it took him almost 10 minutes to take the order of 5 people. That being said, the ceviche and guac were really good, and my all family enjoyed the burritos they got. The food is decent for such a casual place, but the service and atmosphere are pretty terrible.

The guac, sangria, and food were good — the service, however, was horrible. We sat for ½ hour and finally got water. When I complained to the manager he said«you got water»! The terrible service ruined our meal, we’ll never go back.

We had eaten here before and the food was 4 stars, but when we went tonight, the service was less than 1 star! I seriously thought me and my husband had suddenly become invisible. There were 4 couples at the bar and 3 bartenders. Our bartender completely ignored us. Everyone else was getting their drink and food orders taken while we sat, patiently, waiting. We finally had to literally flag a bartender down and ask if we could please order. We were going to order dinner, but I had somewhere to be(tomorrow afternoon) and didn’t want to wait for them. We will NEVEREVER go back there again. Never. There really is no excuse for such terrible service. It was an exceptionally awful experience.

Being from South Carolina, this is the closest to authentic Mexican food I’ve found. Granted, I haven’t looked that hard, but that shouldn’t take away from the quality of this place. The atmosphere is awesome. Would be great for a date night or a family outing. The food is great– love the smoky salsa that comes with the chips. Also can’t beat the house margarita. My fiancée was impressed with their selection of tequilas, and if you order one, it comes in a glass like a brandy snifter so sip and enjoy.

First and foremost, the outside seating is great. Having the sun shine down while you’re enjoying a cold beer with chips and salsa is nirvana. The menu offers something for everyone and my choice was fajitas! But first, back to the chips and salsa. Excellent big chips and a delicious salsa that is a bit darker than most. Maybe I was hungry, or just drawn by the elixir, but I loved it. What’s that sound? Oh yeah, those are my sizzling fajitas coming through the restaurant! Chicken, peppers and onions give off a warm, inviting smell :) An accompanying plate with black beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo and tortillas, signals it’s GO time! The service was responsive and frequent enough not to be overwhelming. Not part of my meal, but worth mentioning; Brunch is served until 3pm on weekends and you can get bottomless Mimosas $ 10 and Bloody Marys for $ 12! Bring your co-workers and friends, you’ll enjoy it!

This was possibly the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.(And I once found a cockroach in my coleslaw at Chilis, so thats saying something) I was a part of a 15 person group who went to the turf valley Xitomate at 5 pm today. We called 3 hours ahead and made reservations, so its not like they didnt know we were coming. When we got there, the restaurant was completely empty. We were the only table. You would think that this would warrant great service and undivided attention, but the opposite was true. We rarely saw our waiter. The food took an extremely long time to arrive. We had to remind the waiter several times about the orders. He said that some had been«forgotten» or «not put in.» Like, I ordered a bowl of guacamole and chips and it didn’t arrive for over 30 minutes. You would think that they would at least try to keep our drinks topped off, but we kept ordering more margaritas and sangria but they never came. The drinks that did come were weak and mostly ice. Because the food took so long to arrive and the margaritas were not forthcoming, we relied on water. However, we quickly ran out of water and waited patiently for a refill, but none came. A member of our party had to get up and find a staff member to ask for more water. The girl who came to refill our water(and delivered some plates of food) was actually a hostess. Im not sure why they were making her serve the tables. The food itself was okay, I guess. Very small portions and high prices. There were no foreign bodies or insects in the food, so that is a plus. We were completely done eating and ready to leave by about 7 or 730. Of course, no one asked if we wanted the check, so after a long time we again had to get up from the table, hunt someone down, and request it. Maybe 20 minutes later another person went to request again. Another request 10 minutes later. We waited for the check for an insanely long time. When the check finally came, they had divided it by each person. Which would have been great if it had been correct. About a 3rd of our party had to send back incorrect checks, myself included. They gave me a check charging me for 2 margaritas, one salad, and some other unknown thing. I ordered one margarita and guacamole. So some of us had given our cards to pay, and some of us were waiting on corrected bills. Again, it took an incredibly long time. Someone again went up to ask about the status. She was told that the«Tablets were being slow.» And we were like, holy shit, are you using like WINDTURBINES to power your internet or something? The building is very beautiful, and the bathrooms are well kept. The location is prime. But I fear that literally no person employed by this restaurant has ever worked in food service. The waiter barely served us, the hostess is working as a server, and the manager was no where to be found. Thats the part that really got me.,…It was pretty obvious that we were dissatisfied, and at no point did a manager try to approach us or even identify himself to us. I feel as though the cornerstone problem is management. My friends and I are all very nice, understanding people. We tip well and are forgiving. Even after this abysmal experience, many of us still left tips. We wanted to pay them, but they were making it so hard for us. We left at 845 pm. So it took 3 hours and 45 minutes for what was supposed to be a quick happy hour gathering. I have the utmost respect for servers. I have never worked as a server, but I am sure that I could have provided better service than anyone at this restaurant. 0/10, would not return,

I can’t quite figure this place out. The menu is great. The atmosphere is great. The servers are attentive… at first, then they just simply vanish or when you do get a sighting, you find yourself having to flag them down to get a refill or even the bill. As a tequila bar you would figure they would keep your glasses full, heck, the tips will follow… but not the case. The food has serious potential, last visit, the chile relleno which is stellar in Columbia, was cold and the cheese wasn’t even melted, «send it back» you say… where is the waiter? If I’ve got to get out of my seat to get you, you fail. There is clearly a leadership issue… I don’t know the details of what’s happening in the kitchen, but I’m hesitant to return. I want this place to be great. Fix the communication issues behind the counter and you’ve got a customer again. Otherwise… hasta luego!

The food, service, and ambiance are all great. Drinks were amazing. Great tequila selection! I recommend the carne asada. The salmon was also fantastic and melted in your mouth. The guac isn’t table side but still great. Carlos, the manager on staff the night we visited, was a jerk. He was verbally nasty towards the staff. He got angry over something that happened and pulled the entire staff into a meeting at the back of the restaurant… All while there were people waiting to be served. When I finally went back to get the bartender’s attention she came out very apologetic. 30 seconds later, Carlos was at the bar scowling and waiting for her to come back to the meeting. Normally a manager is someone that walks around asking about service and food and makes sure everything is up to standards. He, however, ignored all the patrons he walked by and even when I smiled and tried to greet him he didn’t smile back and turned and walked away. I highly recommend everyone check this place out but Carlos needs a serious attitude adjustment and I will be going to the other location before coming back here. Carlos, if you read this, take a course in restaurant management. I understand needing to be stern with your staff but not at the cost of service and neglecting your customers.

Woooahhh! First things first this little shopping plaza thingamajig is pretty nice. It’s like what the Blvd at the Cap Center was supposed to be before it became corrupt and all of the stores left. I’m not sure if they are finished or if they will be adding more. But, it is a totally cool spot to grab a bite, or walk around with that someone(s) special. Ha! Okay not that that is out of the way. I have been wanting to try Xitomate for some time now, I totally dug the fact that this location is slightly more convenient, plus I was able to check out a new area. The restaurant is nicely sized with plenty of tables, and it also has outdoor seating, there was virtually no one when I went. The music was kind of loud, I didn’t mind, as I steadily tapped my feet… Suavamente! Besame! I mean who doesn’t love Elvis Crepo? Love it! To begin we had the guacamole, which is made fresh in house. It isn’t made in front of you like other places, but nevertheless it is still fresh. There are three types; we got the original, mild. I was pleasantly surprised as I generally have to add a bit of salt and acid to mine, but I think this one was spot on. Oh, in addition to the guac, of course there were chips/salsa on the table, I HAVE to comment about the salsa, as it isn’t one that I have generally gotten in a my travles to taste Mexican food. I loved the smokiness, I believe it was ancho chili. Wait. Do y’all sell that? Seriously? Yum. For dinner I had the chilpachole which was a stew with various seafood; fish, mussels, shrimp, and scallop in a chipotle tomato broth. I was slightly skeptical, I mean I wanted to be basic and boring and get fajitas… lol. I mean why not it, there was a special that day. Plus I know you can’t mess those up, right? I’m so happy that I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried it. It was superb! IMHO each seafood item had a different taste as it absorbed the broth differently. The mussels were smoky, the fish had a nice crunch as if it were fried… I swear it was a party in my mouth. The rice, although good, I don’t think I really needed it. I think it was more or less there as a filler. For dessert, churro, churro, churro! Yummo, can’t get any better than that. Swirl those suckers in a bit of coffee and chile y’all just made my night. Our server; on point, all night. Extremely helpful and attentive. No complaints. I will definitely be returning. There HH is pretty awesome, discounts on pitchers of Margaritas you say? Boom! Can’t be beat. But wait, can y’all have some of that salsa bottled for me upon my return? Mkay, thanks!
