Dive, dive, divvvvvvvveeeeeeee. Anyway, aside a poor aquatic reference the place is good for what it is I’d say. If you like sports there are a number of TVs and a projection screen depending on what you watch. I came here for a basketball game and commandeered a few seats at the bar with some friends. Jonelle was our server and she was excellent. Good sense of humor, very attentive. Though we’ve been here a few times before, I’d say it was infrequent enough that we are by no means a regular crowd that pops in. From what I could see, there was a pool table and a dart board in case you’re there just to chill and not catch a game like we were. There’s also an outside seating area for smokers where you can bring drinks. As with any local dive, you’re going to come in contact with regulars of the place. You may also come in contact with different sketch people that are roaming the area. There will definitely be people drinking at all levels of inebriation. That’s just part of the allure and dismay of a dive since you could meet any sort of individual walking through the doors and gracing its steps. Grain of salt my friend. We ordered a pitcher of beer, a combo appetizer platter, a fiesta salad, and an order of garlic fries. The one thing you can get down on in a dive is the food. Hopefully you’re not expecting decadence and exquisiteness beyond compare… because that’s not what you’re going to get. Go to a restaurant if you’re looking for something like that. Granted I haven’t tried a lot of their menu but if it was a burger or finger food I’m sure this place can accommodate your needs. The beer was coming out especially foamy so Jonelle had this nice setup to get our pitcher of beer out. See the picture for a better reference. The appetizers were fresh and hot. The chicken tenders and jalapeño poppers are possibly premade, but still tasty and not overcooked or anything. The zucchini was a little stringy but that’s more than likely due to it being cut into pretty thin strips. Thicker strips usually solves this issue but they were crunchy and tasted fine albeit a little oily. The garlic fries were hot and semi garlicky, I kind of wish there was more garlic but I always kind of feel like that. Like seeing garlic chips on a sushi roll, I’m always inclined to try it and ask for more garlic chips. I also had to get a salad since well… I needed to feel a little better about all the fried food. The fiesta salad was made up of sautéed mushrooms, onions and bell peppers along with diced tomatoes and lettuce. No real sauce or dressing per se but most of the flavor came from the sautéed vegetables. This actually worked pretty well together and I’m considering making this myself the next time I have a cooking party for friends haha. Anyway, the food overall is not great but workable. I’ll think about lifting things if I have a chance to explore more of the menu next time. All in all, it was a good experience. That and my team won haha, can’t complain about that. There are some short falls because of the type of place this is, but it certainly shines in some aspects in comparison to other dives I’ve been to. As with any place, never set your standards too high otherwise you’ll never see the real charm in places such as this.

My In-Laws wanted to eat here for breakfast. At first I thought maybe my mother in law sent the wrong location maybe her phone auto corrected but no, they wanted to have breakfast here so I thought okee dokee! Definitely a bar lol when you walk in there is a pool table to your left to your right there are tables to sit at, the bar itself, and a small dance floor. I was apprehensive when ordering because they only have breakfast on Saturday and Sundays but when I took that first bite of the country fried steak and eggs it was delicious! The gravy was really flavorful not bland like a lot of other breakfast places. This gravy had pieces of bacon in it and also has a little kick(spicy). The potatoes were cooked perfectly I like a little crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I like that it wasn’t really busy we were seated right away and met the owners who are really nice. I can’t say what the food for the evening taste like or what the atmosphere is like but for breakfast I will definitely be coming back plus my daughter was allowed to go out on the dance floor to dance and get some energy out while we waited for our food to come out.

I came in and got a Jameson and ginger ale and there was this white spit like material in my drink… I brought it up to the bartender Jessica and she said«oh well I didn’t make your drink so oh well» I won’t be buying a drink here ever again

I have gone here many, many times over the course of my 10 years living in Elk Grove. I have gone here for both the food and for the entertainment. First, the place — reminds of me of local bars back home in Pittsburgh — and the prices aren’t that much higher compared to food and drink prices of similar places around the Sacramento area. It’s not the best, cosmetically speaking, but that’s the type of places I like to go — that way I feel that I don’t have to get dressed up. They have karaōke and bands that play. The bands vary — but I never remember thinking that a band sucked. I think there food is good. I get either their Herd Burger or the meatball hoagie — so I can’t really tell you about what else they offer. I have them a 4 because I would order them a lot more for takeout — but it can sometimes be a challenge to get through on their phone. — however, the last 2 times — I got right through — so the problem may have been corrected.

Went to check this place out… Taken over by new owner. The place looked pretty much the same. Missing Nina, our favorite owner. Yet, Nick was the great bartender, taking care of getting bad energy people out of our sight. Did not stay long cause waiting for David KJ had dinner and probably way passing 9.30 pm so we left. Was good to know though that there is a place that the bartender step forward to do the real job that female guest would not be bothered by some drunks…

I just want to start off with saying that i’ve been coming to this bar for years. I’ve brought a lot of business into this bar, plenty of my friends from out of town or people who didn’t know about it, one of which who was included was My Husband. My husband and i met and started dating and used to come here regularly. The drinks were reasonably priced. The food was always good. The live music was a plus and we were in our party stages so we always had a good time. Typically an older crowd, but we liked it that way. No fights, no bs, no drama. Just a good time in a bar with older folks who like to socialize and dance and play pool. Well 5 years has gone by. We got married, we had a baby and our priorities changed, so naturally we do not get to go to «the sporty» very often anymore. Every week we get 1 date night to spend together without our son, and that only happens if my husband does not have to work. Last night we decided to go to the sports bar to have a good time and remember the old times. Not really the best idea. When we walked in, we went looking for a table. A younger male/kid greeted us and asked us where we would like to sit. Not really the usual, so we were confused. Are they acting like a restaurant now? Or is this a bar? We found 1 small table by the pool table and darts towards the back and decided to sit there. We like to play darts and pool while we drink and this was the only table to really choose from unless we wanted to take a 10 top for the two of us. The male/kid said he would bring us menus and come back to take our drink orders. Again, weird? We usually go to the bar, order our drinks and then go where we please. But whatever. We decided to go sit at the bar at this point to order our beers, our food and then went back to play darts. We played darts while waiting for our food. Our food didnt seem to take extremely long although i thought since no one else was in there it would have been a little quicker. But we were having a good time and it was date night. I wasn’t going to bitch about something completely unnecessary. We got our food. My husband got his firecracker burger. His favorite. and I ordered mine. the philly cheesteak. It comes usually with aus ju sauce. And we both got our fries garlic. When my sandwich arrived and i finally went to sit down to eat it, i noticed it came with lettuce and tomato. Not the usual on a philly cheesesteak. It had hardly any onions, mushrooms or peppers on it and barely any cheese. I knew the cook was new becuase it was not the same dude we had seen in there years before. Again, no big deal. I asked the server if he could check to see if they changed the sandwich. It wasnt what i recognized. He said no problem and went to the bar, asked the owner and the owner came over and apologized and took it back to have the kid correct it. We waited again, about 15 minutes this time. My husband would not eat his food without me having mine so we both just sat there and picked at his fries. I finally got my sandwich and they apologized for the mix up. Ok great. finally i can eat. I was starving. I look down at my sandwich and it is small. Once again, barely any cheese, barely any onions, barely any peppers. I already asked them to correct it once. I wasnt going to do it again. I went and took a bite of a french fry and got a mouth full of oil. They were saturated. My husband put some napkins on them and pressed down to try and get as much off as he could. I didnt want to wait any longer for it to be corrected to eat. Then i noticed the lack of garlic on my fries, there was none. I paid extra for garlic fries, so i asked another woman for a side of garlic and poured it on my fries. Needless to say, i was not very impressed. We paid 40 bucks for a couple beers and a couple meals. No big deal right? 40 bucks is not much when there is alcohol involved. But the food was just not great. It was very frustrating to have to wait. Its obvious the now cook has no idea what he’s doing. The owner was nice, but he did not discount anything off our bill for the mistake and even though he may have walked back in the kitchen to correct the problem with the cook, there were still issues. Last night after getting home, i had horrible indigestion. I have never had indigestion like this! The only time i had any sort of issues like this was while i was pregnant. Never before or after, except from eating the food last night. Today, I am at work and aside from the common cold, i also have a complete and horrible upset stomach still from the food last night. I wanted to drink some morning coffee but i am afraid what it might do. I am not very impressed with our experience last night and the way I am feeling today. Unfortunately we will not be returning. Its very sad because we actually used to really love this place. But a month or so ago we went over to bull wings and had a complete opposite experience. I think we will continue to go there.

So me and my wife have been coming here for at least 3 years. It’s been, great food great service. Few shady characters here and there but overall the place is good to get a quick bite and a quick cheap drinks. Me my wife decided to join the festivities for October 31st2015. They were charging $ 10 to get in which was okay except for the fact that I’ve done charity work for this bar helped out and was still denied to get in for free even though we know the owner and she decided that we weren’t worth the bypass for the $ 20 I completely think after helping out in promoting this place we would be allowed to come in for free well needless to say she’s lost too loyal customers Jesse Romero and Lindsay Argo. Applebees it is from now o

It was a Friday evening(for the sake of my employment let me point out that this was after work hours) and I was at my barbershop(read my review for In Da Cut barbershop) awaiting to have my haircut. As we all know, Friday’s and Saturday’s are a nightmare when it comes to waiting for a haircut. My barber informed me that he was backed up and that I had a 40 minute wait. After arriving to a strong justification about my planned actions, I decided to go next door to have a drink or two at Elk Grove Sports Bar and Grill. Upon entering the establishment, I realized why everyone complains about the food here… it’s a DIVEBAR! Generally(please note that I said generally) Dive Bars aren’t known for having the best culinary artists in the kitchen. With that being said, the bartenders at this place have HEAVY hands. Lisa(my bartender) mixed my first drink of choice(vodka tonic), and I can’t say that I tasted the tonic. For my second drink of choice, I went with a Grape Vodka Tonic(yes I totally fit the stereotype) that was prepared by an unidentified bartender. This drink was equally strong! $ 8.40(fu*k Happy Hour at Chevy’s) later I was walking back to the barbershop with a smile on my face and a distinct«pep» in my step. If you want delightful cuisines, this is not the place for you. If you want fruity drinks served in fancy glasses with an umbrella attached to the rim, this is not the place for you. However, if you believe in still having money in the bank while obtaining stiff adult beverages, I recommend this place! I’ll definitely be back… just not at a frequency that would enable myself to become an alcoholic… :)

As an African American woman who grew up in Elk Grove in the 70’s, I had no desire to ever return to this part of town — ever. So when a close friend worked up the courage to perform at the open mic night here I really had to consider how much I valued our friendship. Walking in I was pleasantly surprised to see the diversity among the customers. It’s definitely a dive kind of place but it seemed clean enough & the staff were nice enough. The barbecue hamburger was awesome as were the fries & no one had any complaints about our drinks. Open mic performances were really cool & everyone was kind & supportive. Overall it was a decent experience. It is a dive bar in a strip mall so don’t expect anything more. However as far as dive bars go this one isn’t bad.

Went down last night to have a couple of drinks. The times I’ve gone before it’s always been really busy, and to get a drink has taken forever. Got my drink much quicker, which is a positive. It was also a much better experience with my own music, when I first walked in the guy doing the singing was killing the song, it was horrible. It could use some tlc and the bathroom is nasty.

I’m giving 5 stars for a couple of reasons. My hubby and I came in on a Sunday morning after a friend’s 4th birthday party the night before. Needless to say we were in dire need of a bloody mary, heh heh. Justin was so friendly, kind and patient with us. We felt like part of the family, not like«just another customer.» The breakfast was AMAZING, even tho we took some to go(portions were huge!) we enjoyed it thoroughly. We live in the Bay Area but next time we’re in Elk Grove, we’re definitely stopping in. Thanks Justin(and the chef too)!!

Went here on their karaōke night with some friends and family. We mainly had pitchers of beer, the staff was helpful, it was really loud(hard to carry on a conversation) but the karaōke was fun. Nice little local spot. I’ll be back, and hopefully trying some food and playing some pool next time!

To me this is a really divey bar where most people seem to know each other. We have been here mainly to listen to a particular live band. We actually haven’t eaten here yet. So I have to tell you our review is just for the bar component of the restaurant. We sat at the higher countertop type table. I prefer sitting at those types of tables compared to the lower ones. When the live music started, I noticed that the dance floor seemed kind of small. That night my HB was reluctant to get up and dance so we passed on it & left kind of early that night. Depending on which band is playing we may come back. I don’t recall a cover charge was requested which is a plus as most places nowadays request that. I do remember pool tables, an arcade area plus I hear there is karaōke too now. I won’t be going those nights. You don’t want to hear me singing!!! If you are looking for a neighborhood bar & wanting to go where it is casual. Look this place up. It’s the kind of bar that you shouldn’t come all dressed up as the furnishings are worn & could stand to be replaced. Oh yeah, parking is plentiful right in front!

I have only visited this local bar and grill twice and have had a pleasantly nice time on both occasions. This is a locally owned mom and pop bar and the staff are friendly as well as the clientele I have met. The drinks are heavily poured which is always a plus and the prices are most reasonable. They accept cash and cards with no minimum purchase. Have not tried the food here yet but I hear good reviews. Will most likely come back here in the future.

I was taken here last night for the first time with a group of friends. We decided rather than heading downtown and spending more money, we stay in Elk Grove and opt for something local. The place itself is pretty big. When we walked in we were greeted by a bar, a couple pool tables, some arcade games, and even a big stage for karaōke! We headed for the bar where we grabbed a couple drinks and watched some of the regulars sing. It was pretty amusing. I can tell that this place is full of regulars. The bartenders were really nice to the people thy knew and I can say that at least with us they were not entirely friendly. Maybe after a few more visits they’ll like us more? The furnishings could definitely use renovations. Tables and chairs are old and look pretty cheap. I felt like there was a lot of potential in this bar but it wasn’t really livin up to it. Chair cushions were missing chunks, tables were extremely sticky, and the place was just messy. I have to say that it’s nice that they have an outside patio area. By the end of the night after watching our friends sing karaōke we were pretty hungry. We headed over to the kitchen window where you can order, and the cook had just shut down his grills. He was nice enough to still cook up an order or nacho fries & some chicken strips for us. He was such a nice guy! Wish we could’ve tipped him. Overall it was a fun place and especially so due to the large group of friends I was accompanied by, but the bar definitely could use improvement as could the bartenders customer service. **EDIT! Came in again last night– maybe it was a better day for them but everyone was super friendly, there was another bartender as well as the same one from last time and both were smiling and polite and even giving us great suggestions. One star up! Yay!

Came here to try their food but the bartender stated they stopped serving food. It was only 9:30pm. and they close at 1:30am. I was quite disappointed. Their bar and music stage went on, but at a certain point, they stop their food early I guess. My friend and I decided to come back the next day, but earlier this time to give them another shot. Pros: — Live music going — Some cool arcades and pool tables Cons: — Place is run-down — Service isn’t great unless you’re a regular — Sometimes the live music can be too loud and a headache. Other thoughts: The food here is par. Between me and my friend, we ordered two burgers(Santa Fe Chicken and Western Bacon), the latter burger tasted better because it has more flavors going on. We started with fried zucchini and buffalo wings as our appetizers. The wings were good, the buffalo sauce was quite strong. we also tried the wings with bbq, I enjoyed that a lot more. The zucchinis were way too greasy. You get a thin zucchini stick coated in major batter with a side of runny ranch to dip in. My experience here was just ok. I wouldn’t come here again, on my own at least. My biggest disappointment was that our server left us waiting for the bill for the longest time. She wasn’t even in sight for me to call her over. so we stared at our food for nearly 10 minutes.
