The men’s bathroom still amazes me and how it looks like the ministry of magic! Therefore: five stars!

If you want overcrowded bars with small or no dancefloors and lots of attitude, head into Boystown. If you want friendly bartenders, a large dancefloor, and lots of breathing room this is the place to go.

Decided to try Hunter’s for Happy Hour during the week, and I’m here to say that the experience is like night and day. The people that go during happy hour are almost like a family, so much that the conversations can get a little… interesting. Funny, yet interesting. The bartenders are extremely friendly and they make some good drinks. I recommend going on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings if you are a vodka drinker as they have specials. They do show videos in the evening hours but there’s no DJ; no major group of people, just… happy hour. I’m a fan of Hunter’s. For happy hour.

The staff is amazing. Fun, friendly, and always willing to help you enjoy your night. The dance floor is great, nicely sized and primed of the perfect night. Unfortunately the music(DJ) can be hit or miss, but most of the time they do a great job(I could just be a DJ snob). If you’re stuck in the burbs and you want to have some fun, come on out on Saturday and shake you fanny ;)

Considering it’s location, I definitely give 4 stars. Yes, they do charge a $ 5 cover, however, I consider this to be ok. First, they’re a good drive from the city, so if you don’t want to drive all the way in to go to Andersonville or Boystown then I’d say that’s a small price to pay. As for the crowd, I thought it was pretty mixed. I saw everything from young 20 somethings to groups of older gentlemen. There also seemed to be plenty different types of people, butch, fem, etc. The bartender was very friendly, attentive and quick. The music when we went in was lower which eased us in. Like most places it went up a little later in the evening. Plenty of room to dance, just sit and chill or play pool.

Every time I have been to Hunters, whether it be on a weekday in the dead of winter when it’s slow, or a Friday night when it’s so crowded that you can’t move, I’ve had a good time. The bartenders are all so nice, the beers are always cold, and Miss Foozie is there on Wednesdays to greet you with a kiss and a warm welcome. I don’t care what anyone says about this place, I LOVE it. :) p. s. I checked in here via Unilocal, and was given a free beer. WOO!

Went on Thursday to about 30 people with no one even on the dance floor. Thought we would return on Saturday when there is more of a crowd. With no more cars in the parking lot we were reluctant, but we headed in anyway. $ 5 cover convinced us that we would be better in the city so we headed a few more miles out and were quite pleased with the crowd and great people at Sidetracks and Scarlet. Why pay the $ 5 cover when there is a better time in the city? Please it’s Saturday and they can’t get people there. What makes them think I would pay to dance with myself. You would think they would have at least been interested in the money they would have made from our drink orders and tips.

Where do I start? Wow. Got to Hunter’s around 7:30 to no cars in the parking lot. I was wondering if the place was open. Made my way to the patio bar where I was meeting a friend. Fell in love with the place by the end of the night. Hats off to all the ex military men manning the bars. Grandma stole my heart. Everyone was so personable and genuinely friendly. It blew me away. I’m female so my hopes weren’t that high for a rockin night. Exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to go back. It was Friday the 13th, 2012 no less. Go figure! Didn’t try any food if there is any… Atmosphere and attitude my night.

I am looking forward to going to Hunters Chicago, I have met most of the employees and they are wonderful people, I have heard great things about Hunters Chicago and can’t wait to go ASAP! On my way to Boston next July I may stop over at O’Hare and check it out before I go on to my hometown and enjoy myself at Hunters. Thanks for the feedback and I am stopping at O’hare on my way back from Boston in June and hope to check out the club and meet all the new staff, best of luck and see you soon.

how SAD !!! this place was THE place to be at in the 90’s… stayed fairly consistent into the 2000’s, but the love is GONE. My first beef, the SLOW and un-attentive bar staff. not ONCE did I get a, «HI, what can I get you»… more like they walk up to my face and THEN I place my order. Maybe I am spoiled by living in the city, but dang…” don’t you want my money” is how I feel. And NONE of them are cute enough to be throwing an attitude! The music is so dated and monotonous, I rarely get the itch to get on the dance floor. And the crowd… VERY cliquey! Note to suburban fags: if someone smiles and say Hi, they are NOT hitting on you… get over your ego and try being FRIENDLY for a change… jeesh ! and in closing: the dirty bathrooms… YUCK! As Cher would sing…“If I could turn back time”…

I got depressed after going here a week ago. Too dark inside. Too many trans for my taste. Too loud music. Ugly music… it isn’t music at all in my view… just BOOMBOOMBOOM, with stupid videos on the wall. A few of the men were good dancers, fun watching. 99%$ of the lesbians there were UGLY, and very fat. Depressing. Furthermore… the outside patio, which could be quite nice(nicer than the inside) is RUINED because most of the people who go outside SMOKE, SMOKE, SMOKE. I think Hunters’ is violating the Illinois smoking laws by letting people smoke there because 1) the patio is PARTOFTHEESTABLISHMENTITSELF, and, 2) even if you don’t consider the patio(which is completely enclosed by the rest of Hunter’s) to be part of Hunters’ itself, many of the smokers are smoking within 10 feet of the door that leads inside. YUCK !!! COMEONHUNTERS, GETYOURACTTOGETHER.

What kind of a gay bar is this? I came in drag with a few friends from out of town and the door guy, who is an assistant manager would not let me in because I do not look like the picture as shown on my ID. I was told that they had an incident where they let a drag queen in who was under 21 using a friend’s ID. Well, I think they should do a better job or hire a better door person that knows how to ask questions making sure he is letting the right person in. Since I know Mandy, who is a bartender there, they let me in. The only reason I went in that night is because I was there with at least 8 friends and we traveled from the city. Anyhow, Hunters will lose a lot of business. I will never go here again and will tell all my friends not to come. Bad business.

I am always skeptical when the words«gay dance club» and«suburbs» are said in the same sentence, but Hunter’s was a decent dive. On Saturday my girlfriend and I decided we wanted to get out of the apartment and grab a drink but since it was already midnight we didn’t feel like trekking it all the way to the north side so we headed over to Hunter’s. There was a $ 5 cover at the door. We got in there and it wasn’t too crowded, but that meant I got to ditch my coat on a barstool(until a drag queen sat on it and gave me a dirty look for interrupting her conversation when I went back for it. Then I switched to leaving it on the cigarette smoking deck.) The drinks were OK, pretty strong at around $ 6-$ 7 each. The music was ok, standard gay boy fare(J.Lo, Gaga.) Be prepared for assless chaps and bj’s on the pool table. I guess this could be a pro or a con depending on your style. All in all, I’d be back for a decent drinks and somewhere to go dance for a little while. I wouldn’t make a night of it, but when I don’t want to drive an hour or go to some pub this place it a good alternative.

Hmmm, it wasn’t the most tragic place I’ve ever been. I’ll reserve that for the Cadillac Ranch. It’s a fine place to go blow off some steam on the dance floor if too lazy to drive to the city. Lot of pop remixes– Jesse McCartney, no thanks. We sat out a lot of the time waiting for a good song while trying not to pass out from the over abundance of Drakar Noir flowing like it was hot… Music along with the cologne could use an update… The time never came for a good song to play, so we didn’t stay too much longer. The bouncer looked a little mad that we were leaving so soon.

My experience on Sat, Feb 27th. Pro’s: Nice place. Bartenders are friendly. Television monitors. Neutral: Drinks at city prices. Con’s: Music(pop-remixes), Dancing is horrible due to techno/house mixes. Overall Hunters was a major disappointment. They limit the danceability of the place due to the type of music they play. The music is horrible which is a big reason very few people go, or STAY on the dance floor. If they change the music to regular pop music instead of pop music techno remixes, the place would be infinitely better. Go to the city!

This place can be best described as passable based on its location. The music is on par with the gay bars in boys town however there dance floor feels more like a high school dance then a gay bar. It is like bottoms on one side tops on the other and no one talks to anyone they don’t know. If you are looking to meet new people boy you’ve come to the wrong place. Friday nights are the most fun because that is there busiest night. Come on a saturday and there will not be many people on the floor. The staff however is very friendly and the drink prices are much more reasonable then in the city. The large outdoor patio is nice but the giant billboard really takes away from the view. The free parking is a big plus and often times the reason I come here and don’t drive to lakeview.

This was the default place to go after the Lady Gaga concert on a Saturday night(after she moved locations from DT Chicago to the Rosemont Theater… boo!). Bad music, I swear a ordered Diet soda and I kept getting regular, washed out patrons, located in the middle of nowhere… I probably should stop there. I should have been the designated driver and shuttled us all to Lakeview.

Hunters is a sad little gay bar– well it’s not little it’s just sad. I found myself searching for redeeming qualities of hunters and I’m sure there are some, they unfortunately are just not as apparent as one would assume. Hunters is the kind of bar you go to when you’ve been kicked out of every gay bar in Chicago and are possibly in the mood to meddle with some really bad drag queens who are more masculine than the brawny man. Hunters is the kind of place that you go to if you are ready and willing to possibly swallow down a roofie along with your over priced drink. Hunters is also a great place to bring your new car if your looking to get it keyed. Honest to god– you could drive to hunters, park you car, walk in, take a piss and leave and chances are… your cars been keyed. Fabulous, right? Me thinks not. Drive the extra 20 minutes and go to Big Chicks or something.

Hunter’s used to be a lot more fun. A lot of my suburban ‘mos still come here on Friday and Saturday nights, but I could no longer deal with the following: 1)the same retarded techno pop«satisfaction» song or video that has greasy girls working with machinery 2) really old and really bad drag queens sitting creepily at the bar 3)B.O. on the dancefloor 4) dirty bathroom 5) really bad techno pop, really! If one can classify a gay bar, this would be the low tiered bar. Not a great looking crowd, no good music, really… nothing good, except the outdoor area.
