The food is good but the service has been terrible since the Korean ownership came in 10+ years ago. It’s the only good sushi spot in town just a shame they are lame on service.

Went here for lunch, just happened to see it as I was driving by for a lunch break. I ordered the Deluxe lunch combo, and my first thought was. WOW! Chicken and beef were so tender and flavorful. Tempura was nice and crispy. The staff was friendly and the décor was somewhat Japanese authentic. Parking on street so get here early.

The sever here is extremely bad, I have never seen a waitress like the person here. She looks like being impatience for everything. Extremely unsatisfied with the service here!!!

Oh my goodness this is the most amazing value— tonight we had the hot pot Nabeyaki with fresh Udon noodles, vegetables, fish cake, jumbo egg, chicken, and jumbo shrimp which is always great, but over the top was the top of the line cut of tuna sashimi sushi with generous ginger/daikon/wasabi plate and beef teriyaki combo with deliciously dressed green salad and comes with great miso soup… And we ordered authentic Japanese green tea — All this for significantly less than we normally pay to eat out for basic breakfast … And always super polite service — can’t say enough good, this has become a favorite hang out for dinner ! Since we are now regulars, I just posted a new photo of the scrumptious David’s roll made of spicy tuna with tempura shrimp, roe, avocado, crab, and hot sauce.

Went to Hana Haru with coworkers. They have great lunch specials. The sushi is fresh and the house sake is good! Fast, friendly service. Extra clean restrooms — this is a big plus in my book! I would definitely go back to Hana Haru!

I’m on a mission to find a new El Segundo favorite, but sadly I don’t think it’s going to be Hana Haru. I am a vegetarian and I’ve been craving udon — so much so I even tried making it myself. When I saw that Hana Haru had vegetarian udon, I was excited. I went in for an early lunch so the place began to fill up as I got there. Menu was a little hard to understand for some reason. It’s pretty disorganized. I got a wakame salad and an order of vegetarian udon. The wakame salad was decent and had some spice to it. The vegetarian udon was just ok – lots of carrots and squash and a few mushrooms but not a lot else. I was missing stuff like broccoli and seaweed. Oh well, can’t win em all! This place’s food is totally fine but the atmosphere was horrible. An older lady working here was yelling at one of the servers in Japanese. Although I can’t understand Japanese, I can understand body language and the tone of voice. It’s not okay to yell at your server like that, even if you think guests can’t understand you. Maybe she was having a bad day, but seriously! Actually made me ask for a to-go box so I could eat the udon at home.

Whenever I want Japanese food in town, this is the place to go. The staff here is very friendly and the atmosphere is very warm. The food here is excellent; I highly recommend the Kobe beef, it is very tasty.

The sushi is aiight and you would not miss anything if you passed on this place. I ordered a sashimi/sushi combo with sake which brought my total to roughly $ 30. Aiight sushi with sake at lunch for $ 30 is pricy. Okay, okay maybe I am a little salty from the waitress 1) charging my card for the full balance and ignoring the directions on how to split the payment, or 2) after voiding my card she still failed to split the check correctly, or 3) not apologizing to the table for this error, or maybe 4) looking at us like we were crazy for wanting the transaction to be corrected. Initially I was going to give this place 3 stars but then the waitress obliterated the payment process leaving this group of five in a slight funk.

I think I was drunk the last time I reviewed this place. We travel a ways to get here because we enjoy it so much.

3.5 Pretty good for the price. The rolls were a good size, and the cuts of sushi were pretty thick. We liked the popcorn roll(it had a lot of baby lobster tempura on top), and the sushi best(I think we had yellowtail and salmon?). The rick roll was a little weird — it had crab in place of rice, and it kind of threw me off. Service wasn’t overly friendly, but we did get all our food in a timely manner.

I had the lunch special. It was sashimi and shrimp tempura. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, not to greasy and very tasty. They were fresh. The sashimi was not the best I ever had but for the price it was O.K. We also had a cooked mussel special. It was very good. In a creamy sauce with a lot of flavor. I would recommend the lunch specials. It wasn’t very crowded when we were there. The service was good and we got our food right away.

This place isn’t that great but it’s also not that bad. I should preface that my taste for sushi has been ruined because I’m obsessed with Sugarfish. However, for a quick lunch during work or a quick dinner after work. I get the dinner plate with teriyaki chicken and it comes with miso soup and your choice of sashimi. I’m a big fan of salmon sashimi and I will say that it tastes pretty good. It may not be the freshest but I’ve never gotten a bad batch. After dinner or lunch, take sometime to explore downtown El Segundo. It’s such a quaint area.

I think restaurants should start categorize Korean sushi and Japanese sushi. Almost all the food was deep fried or baked with sweep or hot sauce. Fresh fish in the case was not good looks at all. We thought we went have sushi but this restaurant didn’t serve real sushi

People who give this place 5 stars… wtf? You can’t be serious, or you just don’t know good/fresh sushi/fish. Service-below par. Microwaved Overcooked chicken yakitori.

First time here and we were EARLY, so no other crowd. Not sure how busy it might get, but liked the staff and sushi mastro’s behind the bar. We had a nice cold Asahi(big bottle) and wife had a Chard(very small glass) and we tried three different rolls. Crunchy(was everyones favorite) was perfect. Shrimp tempura roll was fresh and well put together. The spicy tuna roll was also really good. Also had some yellowtail, nice and fresh. We are always looking for a new good sushi place and this just might be it. Service was fun and easy El Seg parking as usual. One huge reason to dine here.

My go-to sushi place in El Segundo. Can’t understand why it only has 3 stars. I’ve been a regular here for about a year now. I usually make my way over during their happy hour which is awesome. 50% off beer and sake and buy 2 rolls get one free. This applies Monday all day(alcohol happy hour ends at 6) and 4 – 6 Tuesday-Thursday. Any other time you come you will get normal sushi prices($ 11-$ 13 per roll). The sushi is always fresh and the rolls are excellent. My favorites out of their specialty rolls include the Eternal Sunshine, David’s Roll, El Segundo Roll, and Rick Roll. I’ve tasted almost all of their other rolls as well which are also very good(Dragon roll, Rainbow roll, etc.) Service is always great when I come in here. The waiters are always very friendly and I never have to ask twice for anything. If you’re ever in El Segundo and start craving sushi, I would highly recommend Hana Haru.

Meh is exactly it. The service really needs an upgrade. The minute we were seated at the bar area, it was go time. About 3 different waiters/chefs asked us what we wanted to eat in the first 5 minutes of having sat down. Can you get our drink order first? Give us a minute to look at the menu? We felt rushed to order and the chef didn’t listen to anything I was saying or asking about. All he heard was«albacore» and thought we wanted the roll instead of the plate. We had to correct him a few times to make sure we got what we wanted and not what he wanted to give us. Since we were rushed through everything else, we thought the bill was going to come immediately too… NOPE! After asking about 3 times, we had to wait 35 minutes(NOJOKE!) before they brought us the bill. I won’t even get into how difficult it was to get some water! Thank goddness the Olympics were on and we got to watch some Speed Skating while waiting. I did like how the menu has photos of all their rolls. I’m a visual person. Our order: 1) Soft Shelled crab — it was OK. Nothing memorable. 2) Albacore with Garlic Ponzu — the best dish of the evening. They had good albacore. 3) Volcano Roll — Not bad. 4) Spicy Hawaiian roll — FIREHOT! We were dying! It’s like they fed the tuna with jalapenos before fileting it and putting it on our plate. The ironic thing is this is one of the menu items without a chili pepper Food was decent — but I have more choices for sushi in the area.

Kinda pricey @ about $ 13−15/roll, but they do have Mondays 50% beer and buy 2 get 1 roll free deal after 4 pm and then the same Tues-Thurs but only from 4 – 6 pm so it’s worth it if you can make it during those times. And you can binge on sushi without your wallet feeling too guilty. Some of my faves are: Albacore Garlic Roll, Volcano Roll, and yes the Philly Roll(don’t judge, you know you like it too). Since I’m not a tempura fan, so these are all non-fried rolls. Most of the rolls on the menu are fried/battered so if you’re into that, lucky you! So given the fact that there are few options for non-fried/battered sushi drops my rating down to 3 stars. Service here has always been pleasant and friendly so no issue there. Check the menu here:

This is the best local sushi joint in El Segundo. They have a great happy hour-Monday thru Friday, with Monday 50% off beer all night. every other night 50% off beer, sake and buy 2 rolls get one free. 4 to 6pm. El Segundo is a small town so sometimes it can be the happening spot and a seat at the bar is usually taken. All the staff is awesome and friendly. They have 2 large tables that are sort of semi private for big parties, or bday party etc. Very local and family oriented. They have a huge large TV at the bar and a smaller one in the restaurant. If you are looking for sushi for sure check Hana Haru out. Open everyday!
