Simple mom pop shop. Specialize in clean chicken phở cut or shredded $ 5.99 small, $ 6.99 large. CASH only. Broth is light and clean, exactly how I like it. They use white thicker noodles. Their sauces are bomb! Spiced soy sauce one taste like dim sum or seafood sauce, ginger sauce and chili sauce. Small bowl is big enough for me. The bf enjoyed the large portion. Reminds me of a Chinese phở. Delicious! Super simple comfort soup.

LOVE this place! The whole(or half) chicken is the best here! Their homemade ginger is so bomb!!! I crave this place all the time. Been going here since I moved in the area and I’ll keep going even when I move out of the area. It’s cheap and they give a lot. Always nice service. It’s a family owned business it seems. Even the other dishes is good. Papaya salad is only $ 4 and it’s one of the best I’ve had. The pork chop and rice dish with the sunny side egg is super good too! Seriously, EVERYTHING is good. No hit or miss here. Just Hit after Hit!

specializing in chicken, one of the main claims to fame is their minced vinegar in sweet vinegar condiment. i think if you could put it on shredded cardboard it would make it palatable. choice of chicken bone-in or deboned in the phở ga. more meat with the bone-in option. everyone at the next table(of four) next to ours each ordered a phở ga and an extra chicken to split amongst themselves. that might be the way to go.

LOVEIT! This place seems to only have chicken phở but they really make it their job to make that phở shine! I love the broth and the minced ginger sauce you can dip your meat or spoon into your soup. I ordered the porkchop and egg with rice plate and my friend ordered the chicken phở. Something about this mom and pop shop really resonated with me. I liked that it was simple and quick and you didnt have to tax too much on your brain during hangover sundays on what to choose since you really only had the option of chicken phở or some rice plates. Oooh they also have this great papaya salad. I loved everything!

Goodness gracious, this place’s phở ga is amazing ! Broth isn’t like most Vietnamese restaurants, the chicken is tender and juicy. They also have two types of house dipping sauces for the chicken: a soy/fish sauce mixture and a garlic/shallot sauce. I would definitely be coming back to try their hai nam chicken rice.

Really solid phở ga. I have tried several places but this place is different ! The broth is tasty without the msg taste ! The ginger and garlic sauce goes perfectly with the chicken. This is perfect on a rainy day and every day !!

I seriously question the cleanliness of this place, but you can’t expect much from a mom and pop shop like this. My mom and my brother ate here and I was supposed to meet them up but I got tied back at work. I received a text from my brother telling me that my mom bite and choked on a piece of glass(see conversation in pictures). I left work immediate and rushed to this shithole of an establishment. By the time I got there, my mom was already rushed to the hospital by the ambulance. My brother said when they left they asked where the piece of glass was and threw it away. I demanded that they go through their trash to find the piece of glass. How shady of them to throw away evidence. The owner came in afterwards and I explained to her what happened. She didn’t even apologize, instead, she was rude as hell saying I’m messing around with her business and just causing trouble when really, I was just taking pictures of her business license. How can you blame me for something when your business was in the wrong? I called the police and filed a complaint with the health inspection office. Good luck to them and anyone else eating here.

Small mom and pop restaurant nothing usual or special. I’m just disappointed that their menu said boba milk tea but I got Thai tea with boba. When I told them this isn’t milk tea, they said that’s how they make it. Ugh! Asians! –__-*

If you are expecting the typical Vietnamese phở, this is the wrong place to go! All they have here is the chicken phở aka phở ga. I have had better chicken phở at other places. Prices here are not that bad. A large bowel was $ 7 and a regular bowl is $ 6. The broth here was not impressive and just tasted okay to me. I ordered the phở dac biet thinking it was more of the regular phở… boy was I wrong! I was phở ga with a few pieces of beef… it was disappointing. They should not name their place«phở» if they do not serve the typical phở beef soup. I will say that you do get a lot of noodles for the price, but very little meat. When my friend and I came, there was no on else here. It’s a very small mom and pop place. Not many tables either. You get either hot or iced tea with your meal. Menu selection is very limited. Both my friend and I ordered the noodle soup because we were starting to feel sick and wanted soup. She ordered only the chicken phở so you can have the chicken pieces cut with the bone or slithered up boneless. I think you get more meat if you chose the bones sliced. If you are looking for chicken noodle, then this place isn’t bad. Personally I think the best chicken phở I’ve had was at Nha Trang. Would I come here again… probably not. I like the typical phở much better than the chicken phở. It wasn’t good enough that it had me craving more…

Yummy! Bun thit nuong with a side of freshly fried to order egg rolls! Egg rolls are fried to order. Noodles come out fairly quick after ordering… They specialize in their phở ga! Be aware this is a cash only place! :)

Papaya salad is what I ordered from here. It’s the best for what it’s worth in comparison to driving all the way to Westminster. I’ve have yet to try their Phở Ga which I’ve heard from many is good especially since you can order an entire chicken with it. Memorable mentions: Papaya Salad

Phở Hai Phong in El Monte has one of the best chicken phos you can get. The chicken is extremely fresh. You can truly taste the difference. You have to choice whether to have your chicken with bones or boneless. I personally prefer boneless because it makes it much easier to eat. They do give less chicken if you order it boneless though. There’s sides of delicious ginger sauce for you to mix a sauce to your desires. Phở Hai Phong’s chicken rice is also very tasty. It’s very similar to a Hainan Chicken Rice, but Vietnamese style. Mix your ginger sauce with chillies for the best result. The staff speaks Cantonese, Vietnamese, and English. My only compliant would be that if you order to go, they are extremely stingy with their ginger sauce. They charge an additional .75 cents for sauce and they don’t even give very much. My tip would be to eat there and then scoop extra sauce to go since it’s unlimited while you dine!

First time having Chicken Phở. It’s good when you’re feeling under the weather. The broth is full of flavor and the chicken is soft and moist. You have a choice of the chicken on the bone or boneless. Get the boneless if you don’t want to do work picking off the bone. The noodles are different from the usual in phở as it’s a little flatter. But tastes the same and just as good. For a large, it was $ 6.99 and it filled up both me and my boyfriend’s tummies. Also served with bean sprouts, cilantro, and lemon. Although, this is a hole in the wall place, the food makes up for it. The menu is simple with about 10 dishes, so you’re not overwhelmed. Quick and good service for when you just wanna eat real quick and go. Good thing it’s nearby for me so that I can come back to try other items.

We pass by the strip mall where this restaraunt is located everyday. Never thought of checking it out until a family member mentioned it. We went there one evening about 30 min. before closing. Wanting a quick bite, we ordered two chicken dishes, Phở Chicken & Hainan Chicken Rice. I didn’t have high expectations since it was so closed to their closing time but surprised! Phở Chicken is above average, tender, broth is tasty. Better than most I’ve tried in other places. You can’t beat the $ 4.99 price for the small bowl which is big enough if you are not super hungry. Hainan Chicken? Very good! You can tell it’s prepared the traditional way. The rice is very flavorful which can only achieve by cook the rice using chicken broth. The restaurant is a hole-the-wall unassuming place with friendly staff… Will I go back? Definitely!

tip: unassuming place in an old plaza churning out mouth watering chicken noodles and rice is really as good as it gets. Chicken phở at $ 4.99 for a small is a great deal. It comes with a plate of bean sprouts and chopped cilantro. Broth is very simple and flavorful, absolutely not oily at all. They don’t run the cheap route by giving you less cuz of the cheap price which is a great touch. The accompanying minced ginger is sublime. It’s not your traditional onion ginger salt and oil mixture but finely minced ginger in vinegar(in a small container on every table). Again, very simple but absolutely amazing. In a plaza with a chase bank and a zumba studio, this place could easily be overlooked for a rundown low quality Chinese joint which is totally not the case. It is however an older place but still relatively tidy. You know this place is legit when it’s 6:30 pm Tuesday night and it’s packed.

2.5 to be honest. stumbled upon this place with one of my girlfriends because we needed a place to have an early breakfast. we got greet right away and seated. also probably because there was no other customers in the establishment. the staff highly recommended the banh cuon. my personal opinion of the banh cuon-stay away! don’t do it. if you look close enough at my uploaded picture its hella oily! be warned! the stuffed part according to my gf it tasted like the stuff inside of an egg roll. not enough cha lua. it was only like 4 – 5 slices. phở ga-shredded. if you want the sliced pieces then you gotta request it. average. i’ve had better personally. but i would pick the phở ga over the banh cuon any day. we asked for bowls and one of the bowls were dirty. we were trying to flag down a staff but they got a little busy so i went to get another 2 bowls on my own. one of the 2 bowls that i grabbed were also dirty. the other one was a little oily. two items= $ 12+ without tip so prices are average. tips: *cash only. *shared parking lot with other businesses. *staff speaks limited english, vietnamese, and chinese. *graded«A» by the health department. *they don’t seem to do the phở tai by itself. the phở ga dac biet comes with the tai inside though. *the napkin dispenser is not on the table so you gotta ask if you need extra. *mom & pops type of establishment. result: i personally wouldn’t come back. only if i was desperate again. 2.5 because i’ve simply have experienced better.

Wow and wow. If you are a fan of Phở Ga, you will love this place! I was introduced by my parents about this joint just a few days ago on Father’s Day. It seems like a very popular hole-in-the-wall spot. Very small place, probably fits 5 – 6 tables max. Menu is very simple but since my parents are regulars, I let them order. We ordered Chicken Intestine(I believe they were boiled) and it came with spicy soy sauce. Also ordered some steamed rolls(which essentially is a large flat noodle wrapped with minced pork). Both were delicious and fresh. Their famous Phở Ga was amazing. The phở noodles are the flat white noodles, not the usual phở noodles, but that’s OK. The chicken and phở need to be ordered separately which I find it amusing, but it’s because they actually cook the whole chicken and sell it either half order or whole order. They do not use shredded chicken. They also have condiments on the side(your usual Hoisen sauce, Saracha, minced ginger, etc). The soup noodle was unbelievably good. The soup was hot, and not full of MSG. I felt like I was eating at home but with a little kick. We ordered 4 small sizes of noodles for 5 of us and we couldn’t finish. The portions are definitely generous. The chicken was really good, the chicken wasn’t over or under cooked. Meat is tender but wasn’t super juicy. Not the best I have ever had but I wasn’t expecting much since it is a noodle place after all(and I prefer Hainam Chicken at Savoy but even their quality has dropped recently). All in all, if you are around the area, you should really give this place a shot. It is always packed and service is quick and friendly!

I love mom and pop hole in the wall joints. This place fits the category! Located in the outskirts of North El Mawnte, this specialize Phở Ga joint serves a more homemade style of food. Food: Phở Ga — Average. I’ve had much better. It wasn’t horrible, but I expected more if they specialize in this. Papaya salad — AWESOME. Must try. Service: Mom and pop service. Environment: Hole in the wall environment. Price: Fairly decent price. Well given the environment it better be right?
