Mr. Chopsticks is awesome! The food is delicious 90% of the time and sometimes it’s just way too oily. But most of the time it’s great! I love their orange peel chicken. Portions are huge and if you order more than one plate they give you a giant container of rice as oppose to a small one. Two lunch specials is enough for several friends to share since the portions are so large.

Just last month I would have given this place all 5 stars, but I went today for a family dinner(which they ruined) got horrible food and attitude with the service. It is ridiculous how terrible they have become just because they have become a bit more popular. I ordered the sweet and sour fish with sauce on the side, so that the fish would not be too soggy, I was wrong! The fried fish was soggy already. It was disgusting. I also ordered squab and noodles which were tasteless. Again the service was given with an attitude. I expected a bit of attitude, since(sadly) I do kind of expect it from asian restaurants, but it was appalling. We mentioned to the owner that the food was a bit off today probably because it was a Wednesday(most cooks take Wednesdays off) and he was like ok(basically saying ok, then don’t come back). Long story short, I am not going back EVER.

If I could give this place no stars I would! This place is simply a great example of horrible unauthentic food! U can get the same quality or actually a bit better at Ralph’s on the frozen food section! Do your self a favor and do not waste your hard earned money

This restaurant has great lunch specials that lasts until 4PM everyday for very reasonable prices. The quality of the food is good. We eat here on occasions and when it gets really, really busy, the service is really slow since they get overwhelmed by the demand. The owners and workers are always friendly and do their best to serve their customers. I think If they hire at least another person or two, they won’t get overwhelmed when things get busy. The décor isn’t fancy or anything and the parking lot isn’t the most convenient as the parking spaces are small for small to mid size sedans.

Came at 3 for late lunch and waiters and cooks were eating so straight out told us no service or food for 20 mins. If your not open for business shouldn’t you just close your doors? Other than really poor service, even by Chinese standards, the food was good and really cheap.

We met many of our family here for lunch. We had a lot of food: Bitter Melon & Beef, Fried Sole Fish w/lite brown sauce, chow fun, black bean, garlic Mai fun, fush Mae & tofu, salt & pepper pork chops & shrimp, soup… Good food at good prices. The food came out fast and the servers were good.

Go to spot for lunch. Always have a hard time picking what to eat because there’s always so much tasty options.

My parents love coming to this place. Their food is pretty good. I enjoy the lunch special more because the dinner price is just a little too high for me. This place is not big and without any fancy restaurant, but hey we are talking about decent Chinese food here, who cares about the decorations!

Family dentist is right across the street, so I’ve gone to this place plenty. FOOD: Mom & I were quickly seated. Water gets dropped off and with no hesitation, «Hi. I would like porkchops with spicy salt, fried sole fish, & sautéed string beans! Thank you!» When the hunger strikes right? Well, every visit here makes for a satisfied meal all around. I mean it’s NOT life changing or «I can eat this everyday!» Chinese food. But its food as well as the restaurant in general have been long standing that it’s gained loyalty over the years. SERVICE: Food hasn’t changed too much over time but management has and of course, like most places, it shows. I’ve had better service for sure but management seems to still keep the place clean & people full. I come back because it’s the restaurant I’ve walked into after every dentist visit since I was 5 years old.

I came here with my family for dinner. Surprisingly, the food was pretty good here. It’s not as expensive as many other seafood restaurants. We got the House Special Chicken, Filet Mignon Cubes, and Tofu. The chicken had the right amount of saltiness in it and it wasn’t dry. The Filet Mignon cubes were really good. They were very juicy and tender. The tofu was alright, it was mixed in with veggies. The interior inside is very simple. The service was good.

I grew up around the neighborhood and frequent this spot growing up. As I got older, quality of this place diminished and didn’t keep up with the times. Now that I’m older, I appreciate it a bit more and it’s definitely come a long way since 5 years ago. Food quality was good, I definitely recommend the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Atmosphere reminded me if an old school Chinese restaurant– very minimal on the walls, only had a few pictures of the best food(or foods non Asians would actually eat) and just a lit sign with their specials in Chinese characters. Overall, try it. For a group of 7, we got 6 dishes and a soup and rice for $ 70, with free Asian dessert. And with took enough home for lunch tomorrow.

This is a great place to come and eat. The menu is very familiar and easy to read. The ambiance us pleasant, the person who attends and takes your order is descent and formal. Few Chinese restaurants have the presentation but have no customer service to their highest attention. If you want to eat something very exotic in taste try the honey walnut shrimp. I will recommend this place and I will come back. This place doesn’t push you out or hurry you out, the comfort is their excellence to give to their customers the greatest time for phoood.

The food here is good for the price. I came here twice so far and never disappointed. The orange peel chicken is a must order item from this restaurant. It is crispy and tender and has the right amount of flavor. The only thing I would not recommend ordering is the hot n sour soup. I don’t know if they just made it bad the time I went or it’s usually made the same. Because the soup was very bland and not that good. Other then that every other food that I have order from here is delicious. The restaurant can be hard to find if you never been there before. It’s located in the chase plaza in the corner of the plaza. I would recommend for anyone looking for good and not expensive Chinese food, especially at lunch.

Seriously the worst experience I’ve ever had! We get there and are ignored by the waiter on duty for about 15 minutes(I was on an hour lunch with my mom) we finally order and our food takes another 20 – 30 minutes! My mom was half way done with her food before mine even got to the table, I ordered there shrimp noodle plate(#72) and there was only THREE pieces of shrimp in the entire plate! The food was good don’t get me wrong but the actually service was horrible.

Food’s good! Typical comfort food for me. This restaurant is packed everyday even on weekdays. Their lunch menu is awesome. 11am-4pm and price is very cheap. Each dish costs about $ 5 – 6.50 depending on what you order. Parking lot is available, although it is quite small. Their orange peel chicken is a bit strong on the taste, but they provide lots of meat! Not just all flour like many other places does. Beef with mushroom is quite good. Singaporean noodle is ordered a lot and fish filet with black bean sauce is just so-so. I think this place is good for large parties, the servers do not neglect you even if you’re a large group. They are very attentive to your needs

In love. Great lunch specials $ 5.25 — $ 6.50 from 11AM to 4PM! #22 shredded pork #54 fish filet with black bean sauce The dishes I got were not overseasoned with msg and salt. Stirred with balanced amount of onions, green pepper and others. I have tried many lunch specials HK restaurants and this one is of great prices, good portions and large variety.

Gosh… use to go here almost every Sunday night for family dinner when I was little. Fast forward to 19 years later, this place has made a complete 180 change. New owners came in a year ago and did away with the old carpets. Now it’s all tiled. New glossy wooden tables replaced the old dinky ones. Restrooms are much cleaner than how it use to be. The restaurant interior looks more modern, brighter, and bigger. They even grow their own herbs and vegetables. Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the SGV area. They have a bigger extensive lunch special and food quality has gone up. I’ve notice the food isn’t salty like how it use to be. Service can be a hit or miss depending on when you go, but the servers are friendly and attentive. Sadly, the only glaring problem is the parking.

I haven’t been here in years and when I say years. I mean YEARS! Apparently it’s under new ownership and the place looks a lot cleaner than I remembered. The food is also a lot better than I remembered. I actually thought all the food we ordered were pretty good. I gave this place a +1 star because of the fact that it’s in and surviving in El Monte. Very impressed to find a place like this in this part of town. If you’ve ever been in El Monte, you know what I’m talking about. WHATWEORDERED: Black bean clams String beans Kung pao shrimp Fried shrimp Mapo tofu Pork belly with preserved vegetables Fried sole fillet Salt and pepper calamari

The food is good. The place is clean. Service is fast. I think it’s worth our 45-min drive! We ordered what we usually order from a Chinese menu as we wanted to compare. Their sweet corn and minced chicken soup is among the tastiest I’ve had(I don’t particularly enjoy the one at Sam Woo for example). The yang chow fried rice was okay, although I didn’t really care for the shrimps. We enjoyed the pork ribs with sweet and sour sauce — the meat was tender inside with the outside crunch slowly being enveloped by the right tanginess of the sauce. It was also our first time having sweet and sour pork RIBS — usually, it is just sweet and sour pork. Filets and slices are convenient to eat but IMO, anything that still has a bone attached is the tastiest!!! However, our favorite part of this meal came in the form of a simple sautéed snow pea leaves. Yes, sautéed veggies was our meal’s highlight! It tasted very fresh and it still had that crunch! The taste was very clean and the garlic didn’t take anything away from snow pea leaves. No surprise since it is in season and came directly from the garden that you can see from the dining area. We have a good selection of Chinese restos in the valley and China town is a closer drive for us, but we see ourselves coming back again when we are in the area. Can’t wait to try their sole selections!
