We love it. I wasn’t even aware that it wasn’t called Honolulu hawaiian BBQ. Regardless, yummy filling mix plate with chicken and Korean BBQ ribs, that’s what’s up! And the slush ice next door is amazing too.

Not the most original name, and average food. Not sure about the other reviewer who complained things were not in English. Menu in English and staff speak English just fine. It’s wierd but yes it’s 3 restaurants in one spot. Service was fine. Plenty of parking. Good for takeout.

Food was ok, but I don’t like places that don’t post things in english. First time I was there, they had the specials in english and chinese. After returning a few weeks later, specials were posted in chinese.fail.

This place is a Unilocalers nightmare. This restaurant actually shares the space with Lollicup but is sectioned off from it(I’m guessing its the same owner). There are three business signs out front, one with the Chinese name of the restaurant, one says Hawaiian BBQ which I’m guessing was the previous establishment, and Lollicup. Then you come to find out that the American name of this place is… «Chinese Restaurant» on the menu. Confusing enough? Ugh, a Chinese restaurant named Chinese Restaurant?! So generic and at the same time bad for getting traffic from Unilocal!I can only imagine how many Chinese restaurants come up when doing a search in El Monte. Anyway I’ve come here multiple times and its been bugging me that I had to check into Lollicup next door, when the restaurant side obviously isn’t Lollicup. Plus I didn’t think it was fair for the restaurant to be linked to Lollicup for reviews since a lot of the reviews were only for Lollicup alone. On to the actual review of this place, this restaurant actually isn’t bad! They have two menus, the Chinese one, and the Hawaiian BBQ one. Yes they still serve Hawaiian BBQ so the sign outside doesn’t lie. But they specialize in chicken as you can guess by the Chinese menu cover. Both their Hainan Chicken with Rice and Rotisserie Chicken are great. I liked that the rice paired with the Hainan Chicken is full of flavor, like it should be. Their Rotisserie Chicken is pretty tasty and the skin is very crispy. The French Style Filet Mignon is pretty good, as is the BBQ combo. The BBQ combo is great value! Comes with a ton of variety meat, a scoop of rice, and a scoop of macaroni, and veggies. So what keeps me coming back here other than decent food? The price! Its CHEAP. Not only are the prices great already, but they give you a free drink too, which they make from Lollicup next door. They have a couple of generic free drinks you can choose, like Chrysanthemum, Green Tea, etc. Since the location is away from most action, its usually pretty empty here too, which makes it a great spot to go when you don’t feel like waiting. The negatives would be that its far from most places, its hard to find if you haven’t been here before, and the service is okay but not great. But at least the owners are always friendly. Also they use a community restroom outside, so its always dirty.
