El Sombrero

The food was ok the chips were old the service was slow had to get up and get soda. And I mentioned to a server that the salad was old you can see it browning at the tips and they never changed it. i had to tell a server that no one has come to our table then they finally started comming after when we were almost done eating.

Happy Hour Beer is great. Cold beer awesome. Don’t order enchiladas nasty. I ordered beef enchiladas and the plate came with 2 tortillas filled with meat. No red or green sauce ! Also enchiladas come with olives wth never seen that before.

One of my top Authentic Mexican food joints. Everything is so divine you will not be disappointed. The service is stupendous and they have a good happy hour. My compadre showed me this diamond in the rough when he had my goddaugters baptismo lunch. I would of gave it 5 STARS BUT the happy hour karaōke sucked. The music didnt even sound like true songs. I don’t come here often, but every time I do it’s real decent. There’s nothing in particular that I absolutely love. But, with places like this, it comes down to the service and as long as they have decent food, I’ll come again. They have a Mexican buffet. I came on a weekday, not sure about the schedule… Actually, I do know it ends at 2:00pm. Not too big of a selection, but what they has was pretty good. Two types of enchiladas, green and red. Chili Colorado I believe is what it’s called. Ceviche, tortellinis (surprised to see Italian food, but OK :), they usual beans, rice, menudo, etc… Good service, clean environment.

There buffet is the best! So goooooood! I’m honest when it comes to reviews so let me tell you that this is a buffet you need to try! Brought my boyfriend for the first time & he loved it too!

Ugh… for some reasons businesses like to come here for lunch. I have been here 3 times, but never again.
Food is very average or tasteless, the best thing here is the chips and salsa.

Went on a Monday to celebrate a Bday. Parked in a lighted area near the restaurant entrance but the so called drug addicts broke my window and the car next to me. The security guard that is there to supposely secure did not hear or see anything. There are no cameras securing the parking area nor did they seem concerned that this incident occurred. Police took over an hour, they were called twice before they showed up.
The Chili Verde wasn’t the best this time. Maybe a different cook. The service is good.

WOW… LIKE SERIOUSLY WOW! This place has good-​ish food but that’s where it ends. The parking sucks. The buffet was small, not much of avariety. The waitress didn’t pay attention to us, she didn’t take our drinkl order until half way thru our meal. When we wanted to pay, once again this lady took forever to ring us up & she did it with an attitude because I went to tell her to ring us up. Not coming back anytime soon.

The family and I went to dinner last night and had a great night out, the service was excellent they went out of their way for us .food was good too, will be going back soon

Came here last night walked in about 843 and was told to order now cause the kitchen closes. The sign out side says 10pm but anyways I felt rushed as the chairs were going up and they were vacuuming. Won’t be back

Success! We recently had our 30^th wedding anniversary at El Sombrero. The food was delicous and the service from the staff was great. We ordered the pork in chile colorado, the chicken enchiladas, rice and beans, green salad and fresh fruit. They also put out a large bowl of sour cream and the best fresh guacamole. It was nice and thick, not that watery green stuff you get at some restaurants. Our guests could not stop raving about how good the food was. One of my friends also said she thought they weren’t going to get her a glass of water because of the amount of people at the event (about 170) yet, they returned quickly and with a very happy demeanor, service was fantastic. We are so glad we had our party here, they fixed the restaurant with table cloths to our liking, it looked so good that we did not add any additional decorations and the place looked great. They had a bar open to our group only. We loved everything!
Thank you to everyone at El Sombrero for making our anniversary party that much more special. If you’re looking to do a special event, this is the place!

Ugh! Regret eating here. I ordered a burger meal. The burger patty was oddly shaped, and burnt and hard around the edges of the patty. Fries were not good either. What a waste of calories I consumed LOL Also service is slow, had to wait forever to get the bill, then had to wait forever for them to pick up my credit card.

This review is for the buffet they have, I’ve been coming here now plenty of times, I kinda don’t understand the picky low reviews, my opinion for $ 7.99 you can’t beat that for a good decent Spanish buffet, they have some of my top favorite mexican dishes, good menudo, good beef stew, green/​red enchiladas (amazing)!! They also have chiles reyenos, beans, rice, chips&salsa, salads, ceviche, fajitas, beef gisado, pork, tortillas. so for that price And decent food I’ll take it! Cheap price good food;)=. ‘Happy

My grandma would come here all the time the food has always been great! When my father passed away we had his reception here and the staff did a great job! They have a private room for large parties and a price fixed menu that makes things simple and easy. On a day where my mind was understandably not clear they stayed organized and took care of everyone and I greatly appreciated it!

I’ve been coming here since I was a young child with my family, the atmosphere is very up beat and family oriented. Service can be a little slow at times, but they are very busy. I don’t mind it only because I don’t like feeling rushed. I love to be able to come here and relax and enjoy a meal and some cocktails. The family who runs the place are very sweet and down to earth, it almost makes me feel like I am at home. This is a fantastic place, with fantastic food.

Just ate here for the first time and it was pretty good, I had the chimichanga with shredded beef and it was pretty much all meat with sour cream and guacamole on top. Today is Saturday and there was 2 parties going on so it was pretty loud but Id eat here again.

The service isn’t that great came for brunch mother in law got the buffet and I ordered off the menu. Took at least 15min for me to place my order. there’s one guy running around like his heads cut off. While my mother in law is already eating and buffet doesn’t have that many great selections as she told me. Most likely won’t be returning at all.

I’ve been coming to El Sombrero for years, since I was a kid. I love this place they have the best nachos I’ve ever had! This place has a good vibe the place is recently renovated and I just love coming here for football season! Great job El Sombrero keep it up! :)

This place is really delicious!!! I came out here after a friend of mine told me this place has awesome micheladas… Let me tell you she wasn’t lying Lol… They have a delicious taste and do not taste like clamato… Hahaha I order some fajitas and they were soo good… I despite that the restaurant is so far from me wahhh! Lol but it’s worth the little rose trip hahahah :)

I’ve been coming to El Sombrero Mexican restaurant on an on-​and-​off basis over the many years that I’ve lived here in the city of El Monte. However, El Sombrero has never really stood out to me except that it’s just always been there on the east side of the road driving up Santa Anita Ave towards Valley Blvd (kind of like a friendly neighbor that’s always there, waiving, waiting for you stop by for a chat)… That is, until now.
I honestly don’t know how long this $ 7.99 lunch buffet has been going on for, but this hits the sweet spot in terms of pricing and quality. Food was fresh and delicious when I came here today. Waiter was busy, but on top of things.
Let’s see, food options for my Monday visit at El Sombrero’s buffet were tortilla chips by the entrance of the buffet room, a salad bar: Salad, fruits, chocolate and lemon cake, flan, ceviche, tostadas.
Adjacent to the salad bar are the hot items: beans/​rice, potato slices (sort of like potato wedges, but flat), pork rind, chile relleno, green enchiladas with chicken, red enchiladas with cheese, chicken fajitas with a sauce next to it, chile verde, soups and so on!
Excellent deal!!!
