I did not like the ladies a attitude to my mom she just asked for a quesadilla not deep fried but the restaurant gave her a deep fried one. She was disappointed and mad. The service here is pretty bad too. Laura. She helped at our table. I am a Mexican food lover. But I won’t come here again. The restaurant looks good but the only think I can eat here is salad, avocado and chip. I don’t recommend this place.

Best Mexican restaurant ever! I been coming here since i was a kid and i must say i love it! The food is very good and very affordable. Their horchata is delicious. I always get their pechuga de pollo or chicken enchiladas but they also very known for their birria, which is also good. My mom loves their menudo. If you go during the week they have brunch specials. If you go on a Sunday you better go early because there is a long line. I usually go during the week or on saturday mornings because i don’t like the wait.

Food was really good. We were impressed with the quality of the food. there was a line to wait to be seated. So we knew it had to be good. We were well attended. We will be going back soon. Keep up the good quality of your food and service.

We went here with my family for the first time and we loved it. The server was amazingly friendly and very helpful. We didnt have to wait that long in line even though there was plenty of people waiting ahead of us. For me personally, the service is extremely important. The food was delicious, specially the carne asada tacos(5 stars to that). Too bad they dont have a «To Go» menu. We order the Birria for my mom, a Molcajete for my wife, Camarones a La Diabla for myself along with carne asada tacos and plenty of chips for the kids since we usually share our food with them. Everything was delicious! Overall experience was great. We will definitely come back to this restaurant. I’ve never seen my wife(Asian) so thrilled about a Mexican restaurant lol.

If you’re looking for good quality Mexican food for a low price, this is definitely it! To begin, the place is very clean and very specious. The art on the ceiling is very lovely and the employees are hospitable. I have gone for breakfast and I really recommend the chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. Their specialty is the birria and its definitely my favorite after my mom’s birria! Also the aguas Frescas are super delicious and hit the spot. Of course there’s beers and other alcoholic beverages. Definitely a go to place with the family. Parking is free and located behind or front of the restaurant. Enjoy!

Birria was ok had alot of white skin which was about half of the meat. And what made it worse I asked if they can just put the rice and beans on a different plate and they wanted to charge extra. Wtf I’m not asking for more just put rice and beans on different plate so it won’t mix with the birria juice.

Had a long wait for a table. Then a long wait for our food. And then when they got half of our orders wrong, we had to wait some more for the correct food to get to us. Other than the long waits, the food was good. Chicken and Carne Asada sopes were delicious. The kids enjoyed their breakfast plates. Loud, very loud environment.

Stopped by for lunch during work day with a few coworkers, waitress was attentive but food service was very slow and made us late to return to the office. Ordered the costillas en salsa roja and food was ok. Maybe ordering the house specialty would of been best to really experience this place.

I don’t live near El Monte anymore but I always come here for their enchiladas. This restaurant is located in the Valley Mall and although parking can be a challenge, its so worth it once you get seated. They serve you chips and salsa and take your drink order. I have only really tried the enchiladas and the molcajete here, I prefer the cheese ones but I have also tried the chicken ones, the meal comes with rice and beans. The service can be kind of slow, because they are usually very busy. I recommend you come here and try the enchiladas. I will definitely be back.

Food is great. I would’ve given them 5 stars if it wasn’t for the terrible service. My family loves coming to this place but we know that if we decide to eat here we are going to wait a long time for a table(reasonable since it’s always packed) but they definitely need more servers for the amount of customers they have. You have to ask for things more than once for them to bring it. You’re sitting at your table for a good 10 – 15 min before they even come ask what you want to drink. The poor servers are overwhelmed all the time, so much that they sometimes come off as rude. So in conclusion… delicious food but don’t expect ANYTHING from the service.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! I highly recommend the Molcajete a la mexicana and the tacos de birria! The service is friendly and usually fast, except Sunday’s when the wait is out the door, and the food is always hot and delicious! There are no refills on the drinks. Overall, a clean and enjoyable environment.

Birria is my all time favorite Mexican dish. I am thrilled to try it at a new or recommended restaurant, always ready to be brutally honest about what I was served and if it indeed pleased my Birria-loving palate. The first time I ever stepped into this birrieria, was a few days after leaving the hospital.(This is important to point out, since I had an infection in my gallbladder and had to avoid consuming any greasy or fatty foods!) My boyfriend and I had driven past it several times and knowing I am such a fan of Birria, I was promised we would try it out soon. So we went for dinner after being hospitalized, and it was probably a terrible idea because Mexican food is not exactly the healthiest option, but after eating jello for days and a little hospital food, I could not resist my favorite food! There are two entrances. Front of the restaurant and back of the restaurant. Both meet up to the host in the middle of the restaurant, odd but kind of unique. It was quite packed, and we were told it gets very busy from lunch to closing as it was the only birrieria in El Monte. Interesting. Although it was so packed, we were seated promptly and given exceptional service. We were brought out our drinks immediately and our orders were taken right away. Chips and salsa were great, and fresh. We both got the Birria de res(beef) en platillo, which is odd because I always prefer en caldo style.(I chose plate style instead of in broth style) We also ordered the queso fundido with chorizo. Our dishes were brought out quickly and it looked amazing! I could not wait to dig in but I had to take some pictures first!(For Unilocal of course) I took a spoonful and then put my spoon down and put my hand over my forehead looking down at the table while shaking my head.(It’s a habit in situations like this) My boyfriend looked at me awaiting for my dramatic moment to be over. «It’s so good» I said almost wiping a tear away. ITWASSOGOOD!!! I dug into the rice and beans, which I am very picky about as well, and they were delicious! I was very full having finished about half of my dish and I was afraid of any gallbladder pain as a result of fatty food, but to my surprise, I did not have any gallbladder pain which in fact may mean the level of fat or greasiness in this Birria was very low! Amazing! What a plus! The queso fundido with chorizo was also delicious! It is meant to be eaten as soon as it’s brought out, but we were so busy loving and enjoying our Birria that the queso hardened, it was good but overpriced. Around $ 8, might as well get some drinks or dessert instead. I highly recommend La Barca to any Birria loving Unilocalers. Other items on the menu also looked quite appetizing. All in all, great food, great service, great memories! I was promised we would return but we ended up moving back to my hometown. I long for the day we visit El Monte again soon. I’ll definitely stop by La Barca then. Thanks for not disappointing!

The greatest molcajete makers in the world reside at this beautiful place. They come from all parts of Latin America to intern in what has come to be known as «LA Barca.» Legend has it that years ago the Pope blessed the kitchen from which the molcajetes rise everyday. The customization allowed on the molcajetes is unparalleled. Just like the brothels in TJ you can«get it how you want it» here at La Barca. Just make sure that manager with the bad dye job isn’t there. Total douche. We know your hair ain’t jet black bro… Stop it…

*****VERYBADSERVICE**** Went here for my birthday on Sunday. We were 12 guest. First of all, the waitress took a long time before she showed up to greet us. Second, we ordered our food and the waitress brought 1 plate an then 10 min later brought the rest. I did notice the table next to us(another big party) ordered their food after us but, were eating before we got our food? Third, the waitress never picked up any empty plates from out table while we were eating. She kept on saying she would come back but never did. Nobody did. So we had a cake which they supposively put in the fridge for us(3 leches) no, the cake was warm and soggy. So I cleaned off part of the table and set dirty plates aside. Waitress said fir the 4th time«I’ll come and pick that up for you.» Well guess what she never did *****VERYBADSERVICE****

I have to start this review by saying my family loves, loves, loves this place to pieces and they’re Mexican. The food is pretty legit and their homemade tortillas are super tasty. I’ve enjoyed their molcajetes and birria and their quesadillas are on point. Then why not Five Stars? Trying to leave or initiate an order takes a long time. I only agree to go with my family if I’m totally craving this place. So if you want great tasting food and a pleasant staff, definitely try this place. Just know that patience is a virtue and a necessity.

Amazing traditional Mexican food . The style of the food is from Jalisco. This restaurant is know for the authentic Burria. It’s definitely a family restaurant. On the weekend it’s super busy. They do not take reservations. You can order for pick up if you are extremely hungry.

Another breakfast out with the wife and some more tasty goat meat for me… QUESOFUNDIDOCONCHORIZO Dude, it’s melted cheese and chorizo… c’mon…it’s awesome. LENTILSOUP Why would you click on that… it’s lentil soup… it sucks… you should be ashamed of yourself… you know who you are. ENCHILADAPLATE The wife got a sure hit with some cheesy enchiladas… tasty. GOATBIRRIA Breakfast of champions. Got it all dressed up nice with the cilantro and onions and a little hot sauce. The broth was excellent, goat was fall off the bone tender. Strong, delicious flavors all with some homemade tortillas for only about $ 10. This place is in the«beautiful» El Monte Valley Mall… your premier one stop shopping place for well… ummmm, not much really… except goat birria I guess.
