The service here is excellent! My favorite is the chipotle salad with chicken. Clara was especially great during our visit yesterday. Great crew, service and food!

Fast service after ordering, polite staff, very clean and the food was tasteful. Ordered the Grilled Gourmet Shrimp Taco Plate, it came with two tacos a side of chips and beans. Very Good!

Used to think they’re just a chain and to be avoided — so wrong! The food is fresh and delicious. We LOVE the ancho citrus shrimp burrito and the grilled gourmet shrimp taco (without bacon for me); these are the items we have ordered 5+ times and they turn out perfectly flavored and juicy each time. All other things there that we tried have also been delicious.
What’s best are the employees — friendly, fast, helpful, customer-​oriented. Tonight Karema especially was helpful (split up our bill so we could apply another voucher); last time it was Jason (sp?). They don’t accept tips, so big shout-​out to them here — hope their boss reads it!
Lastly, thanks to Rubio’s for donating vouchers to school auctions (that’s where we bid on those we applied tonight).
And customers also seem to be in a positive mood — last time we noticed another customer buying a meal for a homeless guy; heartwarming.
We’ll be back to Rubio’s, now that we’re «regulars»…

It’s a chain, it’s fast, it’s not charmingly ethnic. It IS tasty, fast, clean and friendly.
And the Taco Tuesday special is a great deal.

This place is great. The customer service is on it. Food gets hand-​delivered quickly, order taking is thorough and when they’re not working the counter they’re busy wiping down tables and cleaning up the drinks area.
And most importantly, my Baja burrito was de-​lish-​ous.

Fish taco cooked in rancid grease, beans into which they must have spilled a whole can of black pepper. Ugh.

I’ve been devouring fish tacos at Rubios for years, and keep coming back for that fresh style Mexican setup and the extensive salsa bar. Fish tacos are sometimes considered a novelty, and some people do not like the beer battered style because of health reasons. Grilled fish tacos are great, and Rubio’s delivers with grilled mahi-​mahi taco’s as well.
This review is solely based on my last experience at this location, my girlfriend and I were hungry and in the mood for fish tacos. The original fish taco was very crunchy, the fish was still moist, and the salsas especially good that day. This might be because we were extremely hungry, but I tend to think it’s because Rubio’s is consistently good at making salsas and their signature fish taco period! While there are a lot of options on the menu, I’m not there for the beef or the chicken. So if you’re ever near El Cerrito, stop by and grab a fish taco you will definitely not regret it!

LOVE taco Tuesday! Quick service good quality food! Parking can be difficult but it’s worth it! I always get the classic steak tacos and they never fail.

I was in the area getting my phone serviced at Sprint and wanted a light lunch after doing a little shopping at Ross. Scanned the immediate area saw Rubios, and decided this was my chance to finally give it a try. I ordered the sea bass taco special, along with a steak street taco.
Better than I expected, grilled fish tacos!!! I will be back for that.

One of the best places to eat in the plaza! Fish taco Tuesdays are a great deal, and everything I’ve ever tried on the menu has been the bomb. Not too expensive at all, either. The staff has always been really nice and accommodating and makes sure the customers are all happy. The salsa bar is great, too. My favorite burrito is the battered fish :)
Also, the kids menu is a great deal for the little ones.

This lady had taken my order and as she was taking my order she started to roll her eyes, then after getting my food and eating it half way done. these two lady’s as they walk the same one rolled her eyes at me again. and the food wasn’t even that good !

This place has good, fresh food at reasonable prices. They have an expansive menu with plenty of options. Their fish and steak are always fresh and high quality. My friends had chicken and said it was good too. They are very fast– we received all of our food only a few minutes after ordering. All of their sauces are quite spicy, so order without those if you can’t handle it. They have great guacamole with no onions in it (which is rare)! Staff is friendly and able to correctly handle large orders with substitutes. There is plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas, lots of room outside, and its dog-​friendly! Great place to stop for lunch after walking the dog at Point Isabel.

I live around Rubios and have never been disappointed… Tastes great every time, fast, good service, and fair prices.

Pretty pricey for me. Ordered 3 street taco plate and chicken quesadilla and came out to $ 16! Wowww! But I like the salsa bar and this is one of the few places that still offers vanilla coke!

I came here with a friend the first time and ever since then have always ordered the same thing: The Atlantic Salmon Burrito.
It’s bomb. LAWWWWD, it’s huge (that’s what she said). They bless you with a handful of chips that aren’t even necessary because this burrito will last you two meals. The array of salsa you can choose from is great because much like my clothes, I can never decide which to choose for the day. The ingredients taste fresh and worthy of my buck (*cough* unlike TacoBell *cough*).
People are always raving about Chipotle, but until this place lets me down I will be a customer at Rubio’s. Here’s some life-​saving advice though: If you park across the street from this restaurant you’ve gotta look left and right TWICE because the drivers here are NO JOKE! I almost got hit twice (sheesh).

Tonight we tried shrimp taco. It is definitely yummyyyy. It is open until 9pm. People are nice and place is always clean.

I work nearby so I stop in to this Rubio’s all the time. Everything I’ve ever tried is delicious! Some of my favorites include the original fish tacos, mango habanero tacos, and their chipotle ranch grilled chicken salad. Plus, they serve beer and sangria, which is a HUGE bonus in my book!
This location really goes above and beyond in terms of customer service. Employees are always cruising around the restaurant, making sure customers are satisfied. The cashiers are always exceptionally friendly as well. I have to give props to William, who really goes the extra mile here. Give this guy a promotion, stat!
Good food, great prices, excellent service!

I’ve seen this place but never had a chance to try it until today. I am surprised and the quality and level of service from Rubio’s.
Staff are very friendly. Being a first timer, it took a little longer to order and the cashier was very helpful guiding me through their menu.
In terms of their food, I am shocked and how good the food is. I had their shrimp taco platter (and added a fish taco a la carte). Their fish taco has a testy sauce to it, and you get four ½ inch size seasoned shrimp and it taste fresh. The lunch platter came with two tacos, a handful size of chips, and a scoop of Spanish rice.
Their fish taco was just as good…
Definitely will come back and try some of their other items.

I have not been to this Rubio’s in a while. The last time I was here, there was a fish tank in the center of the dining area. Now the tank is gone and has been replaced with a few more tables and chairs.
I had a craving for nachos, so we ordered the nachos without cheese. Then I saw the salmon burrito. I love fish, so I had to give this a try. I had the salmon grilled, not blackened.
The nachos were pretty good. It came with blobs of guacamole, sour cream, and beans. The guacamole was very tasty, and the chips were nice and crispy. Eventually the food started to cool, and the cheese and chips fused together into a congealed mass. It still tasted great, but became messier to eat.
The highlight of my meal was the salmon burrito. It’s real easy to overcook or undercook fish. But my salmon was cooked just right and was rather tasty. In fact, the burrito really didn’t need any salsa go along with it. I will order it again!

Wow, has it really been that long since I last visited this place? It seems as though this place is very different from what I remembered. I read some of the comments and I certainly agree that this place might have had a change in management this year. The changes I noticed from last time are: new credit card reader, a food order numbering system, everything is now ceramic-​ware and silverware and not disposables. If you eat-​in, they now serve your food directly to you based on the number they give you. (I’m liking this change actually, good service). What I noticed though is that their employees seem to be lacking in experience and don’t really know what they are doing, this might be they are newly employed.
Aside from all that, I have always liked the food here. From their fish tacos to their burritos, everything is so tasty! I love their different kinds of salsa too. I always get their tomatillo, chipotle, and picante sauce, with a lot of limes. Then I put the sauce and lime on everything. So good!
It seem as though the new changes made the place feel a little bit more upscale, as compared to the laid-​back fast food feel to what I remembered. Well, as long as the food doesn’t taste different!
