This place is pretty solid. The guy is pretty passionate about his sandwiches and it shows. This is one of the first places that I’ve taken my girlfriend and we go back once in a while and we’ve never had a bad experience. The place is slightly misleading to find– we almost thought they were closed the first time we went. We thought the place was on the end of the building. Just look for it. On days when you’re hunger and need some grub to wash away that sweet nectar that tasted so delicious the night before– come here.

Stopped by today at the suggestion of past reviewers. My wife had the Tuna/Bacon/Avocado sandwich that she found to be excellent. She especially enjoyed the very fresh bread. I had the OB Steak Sammie… a kind of «philly cheese steak». I found the sandwich to be extremely flavorful and well made. Portion alone is worth the money but the flavor would have done that itself. We live closeby so we know where we’ ll be stopping by on a regular basis.

Thank you Unilocal family! You do not disappoint — and neither did CB’s. MANTHESESANDWICHESAREDELICIOUS! Found this place on Unilocal searching for a place to eat with a buddy from OB during my lunch break. Had CB’s twist on a Cuban Panini with his homemade Hawaiian mustard — OMG. Went well with a good ol’ Coke in a bottle, too. Oh and yeah, try the homemade pie… I just couldn’t resist. CB himself is personable, friendly and knowledgeable. He uses seasonal ingredients, many native to California, so it makes the sandwiches even more special. If you’re in the area, you really need to try this place out. Can’t wait to try it again!

So I may… or may not(but probably did) eat here 3 times in the last 2 weeks… IT“S THATGOOD. I got a group at work together and we got lunch last week. First experience with their salads… like with everything else, they don’t dissapoint. The portion was huge, everything was crispy and fresh and there was actual real grilled chicken on it! Personally, i ventured on to try another one of the sandwiches and it too was delicious. One of the girls got the lobster bisque… YUM…pefect balance between rich/creamy yet refreshing lobster taste. Keep rockin it CB’s…subway/quizno’s has nothing on you!

Another EC spot that gets some Unilocal love from me. Cute place! I don’t frequent the area often, except when passing through to visit friends or family nearby, but I just happened to stop by for lunch. My trusty Unilocal phone app says it’s worth a look-see, and I wasn’t interested in some run-of-the mill chain biz, so why not? Friendly service, interesting variety of sandwiches and other snacks, and a cozy little dining area to watch something on the flatscreen tv while I enjoy my sandwich. Everything sounded good, and too bad CB’s isn’t near my normal drive route. I wish I could’ve tried more because I spied a couple of plates that the other customers got. I went with the OB steak sandwich which was nicely toasted with a fair amount of meat and cheese. It’s not exactly a Philly cheesesteak from Pat’s or Gino’s back East and some heartier appetites could possibly want more, but I was satisfied without that sluggish food coma feeling from being overstuffed. Cheers to the continued success of the mom-n-pop sandwich shop. I’d definitely come back again for more.

This great place can be misleading from the outside. But, once you see the sandwiches being prepared, the ingredients being used, and finally after you have taken your first bite, you know you made a good choice by coming here. The outside of this place is plain and simple but on the inside you have some creative, well thought out combinations, and yes, some very tasty sandwiches. I had the Maui that has slow roasted sliced chicken breast served with sliced honey brined ham, chopped romaine lettuce, tomato, red onions and finished with sweet mustard & seasoning on whole wheat and very small side of pasta for $ 6.75. I wish the side was larger because it was very good, but I guess you could buy a larger size. Overall my sandwich was very good and the presentation was nice. I should of had the bread toasted or something because it was on the dryer side. It would of been better if I would had it moistened up a bit. The chicken and ham were great with all the fixings. The sweet mustard was a smart way to bring it all together. While I was there, I overhead a conversation that the Cuban was very good as well, so I plan to target that on my next visit. Although, the meatball one sounded very good as well. I hate when this happens. Decisions… decisions.

I’m happy to say that CB’s Sandwich Stop certainly lives up to its reputation on Unilocal! Not only is the food absolutely delicious(!!!), but the staff is warm and friendly. This is the kind of shop that I would expect to find in a small town where everyone knows each other. There is just such a great welcoming atmosphere here. One of my favorite things about CB’s Sandwich Stop is how customizable the sandwiches are. Because of the customization, you know that you are going to end up with a sandwich that you will love. Not only are the sandwiches fantastic, but the soups are amazing as well! I highly recommend trying the White Cheddar & Broccoli soup — it is a great twist on an already favorite soup of mine. Overall, if you are looking for a great meal and a welcoming environment, look no further than CB’s Sandwich Stop!

My room-mates and I found CBs on Unilocal a few weeks ago. We went down and found that they were closed, I guess they are closed on Sundays. Unabated, we tried again this weekend and I am so happy we did. The sandwich shop is nice and clean, and the owner Chris was more than happy to welcome us into his shop. Chris gave us a rundown of his whole menu and explained to us where he picked up the ideas and inspirations for his variety of sandwiches from California style’d to Traditional sandwiches. He gave us some samples of original Coca’ cola and some of his Aztec sandwich. Right from the start, I got the ma and pa shop feel from the place that definitely gave it an extra start on my rating. I ordered the Bacon Avocado sandwich on wheat and it was absolutely delicious. Chris doesn’t use pre-prepped ingredients like subway or other local sandwich shops, he dices and cuts everything up right there on the spot with tremendous care and detail. The sandwich was crisp and tasty and I will definitely be returning for more. He told his he had a Meatball sub to die for and a Philly Cheesesteak that will knock your socks off. I can’t wait for my next CBs sandwich!

Stopped there for the first time last week and will def go back. Excellent sandwiches, the young lady that helped us was super friendly and helpful and truly, I had one of THE best roast beef sandwiches ever. I had the LA roast beef on a another Unilocaler’s suggestion, — $ 7.25– lots of thinly sliced roast beef,(not hand roasted) killer sub roll, shredded romaine lettuce, slices of avo and onion and lots of mayo. Next time I will ask for pepperoncini’s to give it a bit of a kick. Pastrami sanwich-$ 6.25– Ordered it on white, strange that they had no rye, no sauerkraut. Not sure what it looked like or what it tasted like because as soon as I put it down in front of the pastrami snob(my husband) went to change my clothes and came back, it was gone. Gone, gone, gone. Wow… he said it was great and wanted to know when I would be going back. Cup of tomato soup– $ 3.95– Small sytrofoam bowl, I asked the server if it was homemade, she said no, «but he doctors it up.» Okay, «semi-homemade» I can live with that… but it was just passable. It tasted like an Italian version of Campbell’s soup and apparently the owner added lots of tortellini(what he told us) but the pasta seriously tasted like it came from a can as well, not fresh at all, even though it was supposedly added it at the last minute. So NOT worth almost $ 4…buy another sandwich instead. Owner was friendly, greeted us when we came in but immediately went back to his conversation and seemed a bit put out that he had to get up and make our sandwiches. I’m sure he’s a nice enough man but clearly not as fabulous as many of the other reviewers said. Overall– Will def be back and if your choice is to spend $ 5 at Subway for a foot long generic sandwich, then do it, but only if you totally have to. Support this little sandwich shop and these hardworking folks and you won’t regret it.

This place is off the chain! Can’t believe its right in the middle of EC! It is the quality you would expect further WEST, if you know what I mean. Every order has care for detail and quality ingredients. Rare for a sandwich shop. All the staff is friendly and personable, including the owner Chris. You won’t be disappointed!

Had jury duty today and this place is right next to the court house(drywall prison)/ bum hang out area. While I was in the jury containment area I saw a flyer for CB’s, a buy one get one 50% off, Excellent, was already planning on going there! Staff is very friendly and super busy. Nobody was inside but they were cranking out a lot of sandwiches. They had two tables in the dining area covered in sandwiches. She told me they were for sandwich platters. Good sign. I ended up ordering the Southwestern Aztec($ 6.25) contains following chicken, lettuce, corn, tomato and a chipotle mayo. Good sized sando, I expected from the description to get chicken breast sliced up. It just seemed like processed sliced chicken breast. Good sando not a lot of meat. Also got the Italian Style($ 6.25)containing ham, provolone, salami, tomato, onion, sweet peppers and Italian dressing. Good sando, their own take on traditional. The bread here is the star great roll tasty little crispy and soft were it counts. Good sandwich shop if your in the area .Also they have a card they check off when you buy a sandwich when you get to 5 sandwiches you get one free, free is good. *****If you want to get 50% off your 2nd sandwich go in the courthouse have them strip you of your personal property then get your coupon in the entry area to the jury room then run the hell out of their! ******

I purchased a Unilocal deal and went there to give it a try. Their sandwiches are little bigger size than you will usually get. Staffs were very nice. I can tell they really care about their customers. But, it was pretty warm in there. Their business will get better if they can work on the AC. I will to-go my sandwich next time. P. S. I wonder why the prices of the drink and soda are not listed.

Wife and I had the pleasure of visiting CB’s this week from Arizona, simple and delightful! CB himself was there making his creations with love. He took the time to explain the sandwiches he was making and asked our preferences as he did so, you can tell that he has a true passion for what he does and loves making people smile with his sandwiches. We tried the«Black and Bleu» and the pastrami, just amazing. Nothing fancy here, just really good product and the flavors meld so well together. Wish they had more selections of homemade desserts, but besides that, couldn’t get much better. If you have the chance to get there, do so and you will not be disappointed.

We Unilocaled across San Diego County this weekend, and CBs did not disappoint! We drove from Miramar, a good 20 minutes away, so we were careful to do our homework. Outstanding choice!!! PROS: clean facility; service was very friendly and the owner made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in – he appreciates the customer! Fresh and tasty breads; flavorful meats and cheeses, and the accompanying veggies were fresh; more meat/cheese than there was veggies and other fillings. I had the black and blue: thinly sliced roast beef w/blue cheese and Gruyère, all melted and mouth watering from the time I peeled the paper off. Throw in the grilled onion and WOW! My son got a steak and cheese was almost as good as mine, and my wife’s pastrami was superb, though I like just a little more fat on my pastrami(just a little TOO lean). CONS: pretty small place, though we were there at 1100 on Saturday, so we got a table I love a good sammie and CBs were truly wonderful! That said, you wanna know what I liked the best? The owner picking up on our nuance that we had never been to his store, and taking the time to welcome us and go through the menu. He was obviously proud of his business(that is cool!), and took some pride in crafting our sammies. When he said, «Give me 8 minutes and I’ll have you some of the best sandwiches you’ve ever eaten. .. «I knew we were in for a treat. Again, outstanding! Cheers! RS

From the moment I walked in I could tell from this neat and clean shop I was in for a great sandwich. I’m not looking for a $ 5 dollar deal, I’m looking for a GOOD lunch when I’m hungry. I was NOT disappointed! 1) Quality ingredients 2) Quick service 3) An ingenious menu that inspires 4) The owner/operator knows his food and does it right! I don’t know if he caters, but he SHOULD! The spys from Subway and the rest will be watching.

I received a tip about CB’s, and when I saw the reviews I knew I had to try them out. It’s a new place, right on Magnolia, owner-operated with commensurately attentive service. I ordered a southwest aztec, their version of the southwest chicken. The first thing you notice is the bread; which owner CB describes as a baguette/french roll combination; it’s narrow like the former but soft as the latter. Baked in-house, it’s a very good beginning. Inside the roll: sliced chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, a creamy-spicy spread that serves a practical purpose: keeping the novel addition of kernels of corn in place within the sandwich. I’ve never seen corn on a sandwich before, and the sweet crispness adds a dimension here like fresh red pepper. With my sandwich I tried the tomato soup, which was another win: strong tomato flavor, portioned right in a cup size — more would be too much. Lunch with a drink was a little over $ 10, and should hold you until a late dinner. CB’s made a strong first impression.

Love having another option within walking distance of the EC courthouse. It seems like everytime I go in there for any reason(good or bad), it takes long enough to get biz done that I am due for another feeding and CB’s has saved me on a couple of occasions now. It’s located directly across Magnolia from the North Island Credit Union. Kind of a nondescript sign(Blue and white with a wave) but if you finally find the place you’ll be rewarded with nice people and a good sandwich, made quickly and deliciously. WHENYOUGO– The LA Roast beef and the Italian are both winners. The RB is sliced razor thin and tasty, Avos and a chipotle mayo top it off. My Favorite so far. The Italian Style sports the usual ham, provolone and salami. The real difference in this Italian sandwich is the dressing. That vinaigrette is delicious! I had sourdough on the LARB and it complimented the sammy perfectly. However, I have an issue with the baguette used on the Italian– too much effin bread! I’m no Atkins’s dieter or anything(I love bread). I thought it soaked up too much of the vinaigrette and was overwhelming. My only other negative about this place is the add on prices can get steep– add chips and a soda + El Cajon’s awesome 9.75% tax rate to your sammy and you’re looking at a $ 12 and change for lunch. Take your sandwich to go and bring your add ons with you. *They deliver within 3 miles!*

You know a sandwich is the real deal when you accidentally take a chunk out of the side of your mouth in the process of inhaling it. That’s what happened to me at CB’s. While a sub is never supposed to harm you these are what I call dangerously delicious. I had the Italian made with succulent meats, fresh fixens, and zesty sauce all on a fresh out of the oven roll that would make the Pillsbury Dough Boy say«in a deep voice) «Now that’s good bread!» Besides what I had the menu has lots of California inspired options on it. It’s a specialty sandwich shop that represents what San Diego is all about and prices are modest enough to make me not mind heading to El Cajon to get one. If you’re in the neighborhood or just craving a bomb ass sando make sure to check out CBs. You won’t regret it. Just remember to chew the sandwich… not the side of your mouth.
