I’m a sucker for sweet and savory combos, and while I didn’t realize that Sweet N Savory was the truck’s name, I sure was glad they had a big sign indicating what they served. I had been craving fried chicken for WEEKS, so I just had to have me some chicken and waffles. The lady in the truck was very friendly, and the wait was about 10 minutes. There wasn’t a line to order when I got there, but there were a few people waiting for their food. The wait was totally worth it. While my plate was much more simple than one at, say, Dame’s(no herbs in the chicken breading, no shmear), it definitely did the trick. The wings were crispy and tasted of honey, and the waffle was cooked to perfection. I just wish the menu had been more detailed, indicating that the dish came with whipped cream and powdered sugar – which I promptly pushed aside and blew off, respectively. But now I know for next time.

One of the newer trucks on the scene at DCP’s most recent food truck rodeo, I had to swing by Sweet & Savory and see what they were all about. The side of the truck says«pies, sandwiches, &…» but today’s menu mostly featured paninis and fruit-infused lemonades. There was also an enticing chicken & waffles dish and chicken wings. Since my husband and I had already wolfed down a few sandwiches, we decided to try the wings. For $ 7, we got between 8 – 10 wings, and a basket of fries. I personally thought the wings weren’t bad — we ordered them with jerk sauce, and they didn’t skimp on sauce. Hubby thought the wings were too scrawny. The french fries are run-of-the-mill. I think the specialty at this truck probably lies with the paninis, and am a little disappointed we didn’t have room in our tummies to try them. Next time!
