La Hacienda seated us promptly for lunch but didn’t bring water, or chips and salsa. We sat for a while, watching three waiters/waitresses stay in a huddle, talking to each other. Finally, a fourth waiter came up and took our order. He brought water and chips/salsa, but then he disappeared and forgot the soda. Chips are served in a small wooden bowl, and when they were gone, no one brought more. No one checked on us from the time we ordered until the food came. When the food did arrive, the soda didn’t, so we reminded the waiter and he went back for it. The food was average — good enough, but not memorable. Since I can get average Mexican food anywhere, I probably won’t go out of my way to go back to La Hacienda.

Spicy, yet flavorful. This is what a Mexican Restraint should be. Most Mexican Restaurants in Utah will get spicy or fearful, but never both and La Hacienda is the true exception. The food is outstanding — every time. It’s always busy, but I’ve always felt well taken care of by my servers. Karina makes the best margaritas. There isn’t a single place in Utah that makes margaritas as good as La Hacienda and especially when Karina is making them. She is outstanding!

Favorite Mexican restaurant in Utah. Best Verde you can find. Order the smothered burrito and you won’t go wrong

Once the servers got me into their loop(waited less then 10 minutes) it all went well. Had chips and salsa as soon as I sat down, the food was super and the captain and coke made the dinner complete. I’m sure I’ll go back the next time I’m in Salt Lake City!

I’ve been to La Hacienda quite a few times now, both for lunch and for dinner. As far as their food goes, it’s decent. Not bad but not fantastic. I do love their refried beans and rice but the carne asada meal is very hit and miss. The horchata tastes alright but sometimes seems watered down. The servers are always nice but usually at least one order in the group is wrong. Most recently we had a group of 12 and we had two orders that were wrong. I do like the atmosphere in the restaurant and love when they have live entertainment.

The flautas and enchiladas are delicious! The tacos have potatoes in them, different but good. The salsa is fresh & margaritas are good!

Moving to Utah from California, it’s been hard to find a decent Mexican place. Everyone recommended Red Iguana, which I found subpar and way overhyped. This place is the closest I’ve found to the typical Mexican restaurants I used to frequent. They even have a full bar! The patron margaritas Felipe made for us were fantastic.

We really like the food and salsa here. Plus, the chips have a wonderful spice on them. Coming from Texas, It has not been easy finding a Mexican food place we enjoy and that doesn’t fall short of our beloved Tex-Mex. This place comes close… The fajitas are good and the single order is a very large portion. We usually get the steak ones and split them with an a la cart(chili verde) enchilada on the side. Plenty of food for my husband and I!!! The best item here is the flour tortillas. Yum! Perfect density and oh so homemade tasting! Whatever you order, be sure to get some on the side. The only drawback to this place in our minds is the service. We normally go in the late evenings or before rush dinner hour and we only see our waiter/waitress 3 times. When he/she greets us and takes our order, when our food is delivered, and when are check is given to us. Flagging down someone to get us more pico, salsa, or something else we need has been the current state when we eat there.

I love this place. My husband & I go here at least 2 – 3 times a month! I love the chips & salsa! The guacamole is delicious! I get the chimichanga with green sauce! Sooo good! My husband loves the beef & cheese enchiladas! The only thing I can’t stand is the«live music», it’s not my kinda music. It’s hard to visit with friends with the noise. If I wanted loud music I would have gone to Texas Rhode House.

I’ve never had a bad meal here. It’s all good! The wait is always crazy long though, so plan ahead. The last time I was here we were a group of 9 and the wait was 40 minutes. They sat us down at a table that was empty when we first got there! So why the 40 minute wait?

I’m giving 2 stars only because I didn’t get sick. Service was fine, nothing special. The salsa tasted like Pace Picante, fine, but really, you’re a restaurant, step it up. We got our food amazingly quick. Red flag. I had a Chili Colorado Chimichanga, asked for NO cheese, NO sour cream — said it twice. It came out with sour cream. I just scraped it off, not wanting to make a scene. The beans and rice are substandard. Once I tasted the beef, though, wow. It tasted burned. It was not tender, it was not flavorful. The sauce was limp and uninspired. I left most of my meal on the plate. I would have rather gone to In-N-Out down the road, and it would have been cheaper.

I came here with a friend, from back home, who was visiting me. Her and I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants in Southern California together. I brought my 14 year old daughter along too. I was first taken aback with their choice of pricing. I’m not sure if it is a Utah thing but chips are apart of the meal at every other Mexican restaurant I frequented. I realize they only charge .50 for each additional bowl, but even more reason to just not charge it at all. It creates the wrong first impression. The salsa tastes canned and not fresh. I ordered shredded beef chimichanga dinner plate. It came with 2 very big chimichangas plus rice and beans. The portion size was huge, the taste was okay. It was pretty dry even though I ordered it «wet style». I would suggest they reduce the portion size and buy fresh quality ingredients. My daughter got Beef Enchiladas. It was ground beef with potatoes. It was also just okay. My friend ordered the dinner plate with 2 shredded beef tacos and a side of guacamole(1TABLESPOON) The dinner plate was $ 9.99 they charge an extra $ 1 per item you want shredded beef on and a $ 1 for the guacamole side. They charged her $ 13.99. It’s not a huge deal. It they charged $ 1 more than what she was supposed to be charged but When we went to go pay and she asked why she was charged over, the gentleman who served us got very defensive. She was really nice about it and just wanted to know what the extra buck was for. He said the cheese… She didn’t ordered extra cheese. So they charge extra for chips, extra for shredded beef, and extra to have cheese on your tacos? Not very hospitable which is completely counter culture to the Mexican culture. Honestly I’m used to paying more for good Mexican food in Southern California. What I don’t like is the way they do it at this place, you just feel like your getting ripped off. And the food isn’t even fresh. Also, there is nothing wrong with questioning your bill. He should not have been so rude and defensive about it. I haven’t eaten at enough places here in Utah to know if this is just how it is here or if this restaurant needs to step it up. They have good reviews on Unilocal so it might just be a difference of what you get in other states.

Being from Arizona, I missed Mexican food. All of the local Utah chains like Café Rio and Costa Vida just don’t satisfy. This place has some legit Mexican. All of their food is amazing and flavorful. I have not had a single thing on their menu that was lacking in any way. Pick anything! I guarantee you will like it!

We ordered a Corona light and we got a half a gallon mug of beer. Which if we were going to take 2 hours to eat would have been fine. The food is about 1 level better than taco bell. The salsa tastes like it was poured out of a jar and the rest of the food was just terrible. My husband ordered fajitas and the meat tasted burned or charred. Everything was like it came out of a can or jar or was frozen. Plus it is like a sports bar not a Mexican restaurant.

I come here anytime I am craving some authentic Mexican food. This place is amazing, great employees too. I always order the super burrito, the name says it all(it’s super big) It’s juicy and very tasty! I ordered the verde fries for the first time, and oh man those are delicious.

I’d heard from a few people that La Hacienda is the best Mexican in Utah so decided to give it a try. It was pretty packed at 5pm, but the wait wasn’t long. I was impressed by the service, it was friendly but very fast, no one had to wait long. Chips and salsa are served complimentary. I got the 3 item combo — cheese enchilada, beef taco, chile relleno served with a side of rice and beans. I wouldn’t say it’s like the best I’ve ever tasted but it was very good, had good flavor and wasn’t greasy. There are TVs and lots of people, a little loud but a nice environment, good for families, kids and groups. I would definitely go back to La Hacienda.

I just thought I’d update this review since some people like to sort reviews by date. Well, I’m happy to report that La Hacienda still has the same great food, great service and great prices! The place itself has a nice south of the border interior with vaulted ceilings and an open kitchen. The staff are always super friendly! The only reason why I can’t give them 5 stars is that sometimes we get«Montezuma’s Revenge» after eating here. It doesn’t happen often at all, but it does once in a blue moon. I suspect that it’s either the salsa, the chips or both because eating the same leftovers the next day is just fine. I highly doubt the chips are causing this, so it might be the salsa. We usually eat both the red and verde salsa. Their salsa Verde is still the bomb! However, they do charge you fifty cents for chip refill.

The atmosphere here is really nice, service was good for the most part and the chips and salsa are pretty great. I have a pretty strong constitution, but like others have said, after eating here I felt pretty sick just an hour later. The sad part about it was the food that made me sick wasn’t good at all. Just bland and flavorless. The only reason this is getting two stars is the service. A little bit of saving grace. I will not be going back and I urge you not to.
