I always look forward to eating the ice cream here, but this last time I came the ice-cream was not even frozen it was soft and melting everywhere, a little disappointing!

If I could rate this place with a negative * I would. Doesn’t matter what time of day/night they only ever have ONE employee working the floor, ice cream counter and the register THESERVICEHERESTINKS!!!

I’ve been here a couple times now and i usually only come For their ice cream. I never have an issue here nor do they ever run out of supplies. They have a relatively clean store and it’s not that big but if you need something I’m sure they will have it. There is always someone that will be more than happy to help. The only issue if any is that their parking is small but it suits the place I’m guessing. Back to the reason I come here, their selections of ice cream aren’t a lot but they have my favorite. Mint chocolate. As long as they keep having that I’m peachy.

I hate having to give one stars to a place where I come often but today I had an incident with on of the pharmacists here that I’ve never had before, maybe because I’ve never had an encounter with him ever, he must be new. FERNANDO is his name. I needed a refill and it wasn’t approved. I asked him to call the doctor, he called and said it went straight to voicemail and said the doctor wasn’t in until Monday. To my surprise, I called and they answered on the first ring. I did have a problem with my doctor but that’s a whole different story. He handled my case to one of the females there(by the way EXTREMELY nice and HELPFUL! that lady her name starts with an M — she actually deserves to work here she does a phenomenal job and actually does everything in here ability to help) and she gave me all the information I needed to fix my problem. Fernando straight up seems like he’s new and not happy to help at all, if I come back I’ll ask service from another person. George and a guy with black curly hair and glasses, and all the females are always really nice. Fernando should look for a better job or step it up, because honey, you gave awful service today, you didn’t even finish your work you had to handle it to someone else.

If you live in Downey and are looking for some place to fill your prescriptions on a regular basis I would avoid this Rite Aid. They seem to think they have an absolute monopoly & that the customer is UMIMPORTANT ! It is not uncommon to have 15 – 20 people in line with only one register open EVERY evening! That says something about a company & about how LITTLE they care about serving the public. I guarantee more MONEY(PROFITS) walk out the door EVERYNIGHT than it would cost to have an extra cashier! The pharmacy FREQUENTLY has issues. Just tonight(7÷1÷15) my perscriptions which I called in using the automated system which told me they would BEREADY for pick up at 8:45 pm YESTERDAY, were still NOTREADY almost 24 hours AFTER promised today! The excuse being,“We’ve been that busy” ! Not my problem! He said he would fill it for me… I waited half an hour & it was NEVER done. And this is NOT the first problems we’ve had there either. They are FREQUENTLY out of certain drug. Bottom line: AVOID. You can DO better!

This review is in regards to the pharmacy dept. HORRIBLE!!! Seemed like every time I went in there something always went wrong. I was even told once«We don’t have your medication in stock. You will have to look at another pharmacy» Not once did she say we will order it or any other option. Just pretty much you are on your own. Most of the time when I would call I would always get the same rude woman. Medications got mixed up more then once. They stressed me out so bad I switched to Walmart Pharmacy and it is so much better. Not 1 issue since I switched.

Rite Aid in Downey has improved vastly in the three years that I’ve lived here. 3 solid stars, though. Here’s why: It’s good for sales on items that I really don’t want or need — candy, mascara, Thrifty ice cream(the pre-packaged kind in the back), garden décor, etc. But Rite Aid in general has some straight up murderous prices on other items. Without apologizing, I admit I use this Rite Aid for their sugar cones and a single dip — sometimes a double dip — of that yummy goodness called Thrifty Ice Cream. It’s been around 75 years already! I second Britney M.‘s comment about Joel who is always at the ice cream counter. He’s the real McCoy of great customer service. The rest of the time when I need help, there’s not enough to go around at this Rite Aid. Sure, I end up finding stuff without an employee, but then… The checkout lines are always. So. Long. I don’t use the pharmacy at all here, but they do have a cool«higi» station near it.(Picture posted.) It’s an electronic method of «weight, BMI, pulse and blood pressure» with activity tracking capabilities and more if you create an account and use their app.(which I haven’t and won’t). But it’s still cool to walk in and check your BP… before devouring that ice cream. Here’s the link to higi’s website: More frequent visits lie ahead here for me, but mainly for that Thrifty counter. Sad, but true. Parking lot is big enough. But it’s not particularly well-lit at night. Review #361 Unilocal challenge 201542⁄100

I’m writing this review because Joel, the associate that served me ice cream, provided superior customer service. He had a great attitude, focused on my needs, and was genuinely helpful. That kind of customer service is hard to find these days, especially in the city. Thank you Joel!

I don’t know why the lines at CVS and Rite Aid are a nightmare in the hoods but by golly gee wizz. All the stores are well kept and clean with all the products you would need from a drugstore, but the lines are unforgivable. How can people not work with a sense of urgency? I’ve said it in previous reviews that I worked the cash register and was the flash. Shout out to the lady working the pharmacy section. Great customer service. PS: if you want me to work the register let me know. ;)

The only reason why I give Rite Aid Pharmacies a five star it’s because of their ice cream! Thrifty’s never left this place, and each ice cream for me is a flavor of memory of my childhood. :)

I come here for one reason and one reason only! THRIFYICECREAM!!! I usually get the buckets of ice cream to take home but with the holidays and over eating I cannot have ice cream at home. I usually get mint and chip and chocolate malted crunch but recently i found a new flavor! Birthday Cake! OMG it’s heaven in my mouth. It tastes just like a birthday cake with icing and little crunchy yummy thingys in it! Other than that it’s just like any other rite aid.

This place is great especially during late nights. Its so close to home and open 24hours. They have everything you can think of although not always the cheapest of course, but you can always count of them having something you need when every other place is closed. The only bad experience I had was when I came in and got what I was looking for and wanted to pay and everyone that worked there seemed to have disappeared. Seriously for a good 5 minutes no one came out. I felt like I was in a zombie movie or the twilight zone! Of course the Thrifty Ice Cream somewhat makes up for what ever they lack. =)

Alright Rite Aid we all know you wouldn’t be around it it wasn’t for the Thrifty’s Award Winning Ice Cream! How could you resist the wonderful, smooth, creamy ice cream! Every time I stop by I need to check out the selection! As a matter of fact, I’ve gone only to get the ice cream! hahahah Enough of that, sure it’s just another pharmacy but it’s open 24 hours! You can usually get great deals on alcohol, vitamins,(did I really write vitamins after alcohol, oh geeze), quick gifts/cards, simple stuff! –Thrifity’s will out live us all– 1. Go for the ice cream 2. Check out the ads 3. Very convenient!

I only came for the ice cream, in fact, that is pretty much the reason I come to Rite-aid. The classic Thrifty style ice cream served in cone, waffle cone or cup. I love a good pistacho nut, rocky road, malted crunch and many more. You can also pick up items you normally pay less for at walmart. You can come grab a cool drink of water or beverage after hours of walking and window shopping. They also carry medicine, household items, school supplies, food and candy but not cheap. The parking is ok here. The AC and cold water fountain is great on a sunny day.
