I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and never had a complaint, but this is the third time that my dining experience has been less than desirable. The service is bad: the food takes for ever to arrive; the waitress enters the order wrong; they don’t even bother to ask if you need another drink, which you would think they want you to consume more of — specially because we like to order beer with our food — and the more you drink the bigger the bill and the tip, right? Plus, the last time I ate there, they forgot to bring the curtido and salsa, which I had to go ask for it to the front because we set there for about five minutes with our food getting cold waiting to see the waitress but never did. I waited a couple of minutes standing there for someone to come out of the kitchen because there was no one in the front. The guy who came out, who by the way has worked at the restaurant forever, asked me with an attitude what is it that I needed. I told him that we were not provided with the curtido and salsa for our pupusas, and he said with an attitude that he would send someone with it to our table. It took about another five minutes for the waitress to finally bring the curtido and salsa to our table! Now, I’ve tried calling ahead to pick up my order, and it does not work either. I allowed an extra five minutes from the time the person who took my order said it would take, but when I arrived to the restaurant they told me that it was going to take another ten minutes! I ask the lady how was that possible when I was at least seven minutes late, but she got upset and told me that it was not their fault that WEALL, meaning clients, call at the same time to order. I felt so bad by the way she responded that I did not say anything else — I felt humiliated. However, as I set there waiting for my order, I noticed that the restaurant was almost empty; there might’ve been a couple of tables occupied at the most, but they were not able to have my order ready on time. I’m sorry for the long review, but I am a bit upset. I used to like this restaurant and now I’m not sure if we’ll ever go back.

My experience wasn’t too great. I ordered a Pan Con Pavo and a pupusa. The Pan con pavo was NOTGOOD, so I asked them to take it back and ordered another pupusa instead, which was ok. When I asked for the bill the pan con Pavo was still charged. When I asked them to remove it from the bill they called the manager. They refused to remove it simply because I bit into it. How else was I supposed to know it wasn’t good without trying it first. Absolutely terrible service on the managements end. I made the server aware that it was not her fault, however I would never come back again.

The service here is absolutely awful. Seriously, the place can be empty and you will still wait a half an hour to an hour for a dinner for two. That said, the food makes up for that. Almost. I honestly only ever eat here if I’ve called ahead for a to-go order. Even then, there’s a 15-minute wait in addition to whatever you’re initially told. Great vegetarian options though. Pupusas: cheese, beans and cheese, broccoli and cheese, and calabasitas and cheese.

Pupusas are good here but the wait for the food is seriously ridiculous. After you order it takes over 30 – 40 mins minimum for out food to come out even when the restaurant is empty. After that wait my dish came out cold and the rice was hard.

1 hour to get food! No people, no line and it still took 1 hour. Distracted waitresses. Food… well, let’s just say I had better from the roach coach at work…

Mal servicio.

I’ve been coming her for years. I love the food. Service sucks. Try the pupusas. The talapia frita is good. But if your looking for great service don’t come here. You need patience to eat here. Not even the service bottom matters.

I’ve had pupusas at other places, normally my one and only complaint is that the pupusas are greasy(el Zunzal in Bell among others in the area) and sadly my feedback about this business extends beyond the pupusas. I will start out with the good: 1. they open early so if you are looking to have a Salvadoran breakfast this place opens at 8am on Saturday and Sunday, 2. Its pretty nice looking on the inside. I think they could use a little brighter lighting for the tables farthest from the window but all in all, the décor is nice. It looks pretty fancy for a «pupuseria.» All other pupuserias in L.A. are very dull and boring, for these restaurants it is the FOOD that brings you back. 3. the server was very polite when my Mom dropped the horchata she’d just brought to the table– the server wiped down the table and offered to seat me elsewhere so that it would not be an inconvenience. This is pretty much all I have to say for the«good» Now on to the unimpressive feedback on the rest. I want to say we waited over half an hour for our order to come out: 4 pupusas, platano frito con crema y frijoles, huevos con casamiento, huevos con carne and a tamal, all of which took what seemed a lifetime to come to the table. I actually had to ask how soon our order would be ready in order for someone to come to us and let us know what was going on. The order finally starter to come out in portions, first the pupusas that were mixed up; two people order to each and their orders were mixed up, i myself didnt have any pupusas but they feedback they gave me was«they’re okay.» I got no feedback for the two plates that included eggs, thus I can surmise they were unimpressed as well. As for my order, I got the platains with beans and cream along with a single tamal de pollo, I was sooo disappointed. While I was happy to learn that they dont use lard to fry their platanos I wasnt happy that my platanos felt like they were left in oil overnight and served to me in the morning. I make platanos myself and i should only take a few tablespoons of oil to fry an entire platano, I guess thats what I get for being lazy and having someone else do it for me. The tamal was okay, a bit bland but overall better than the platanos. The order took so long to come out that I made a joke about how they MUST be making my tamal fresh. So we ate all our food, we saw no point in not eating considering it took forever to get our meal. But when it was all said and done we ALL agreed we wont be patronizing this establishment again. The only thing I will add is that I ordered some pastelitos to-go, I was impressed that they were actually good. They are still greasier than anything I or my Mom would make… or any Salvadoran person I know… but the flavor is REALLY good on these. Hence the only good food served to us at this location were their pastelitos, yet despite them being pretty tasty it still doesnt make me want to go back.

Food is good, based on food, visit this place. Service really blows however, lousy. I keep coming back because food is good and I don’t know of any Salvadorian places in Downey, otherwise id drop this place. They take long to take order, appetizers take long, you have to ask for utensils, etc. lousy service, horrible. I live a mile away and only visit 2 times a year, if service was average id come a few more times.

I come here a few times, and I knew the service it’s always slow no matter the time of the day with and without customers, but today!!! First the waitress comes and without saying anything just ask us what we want, ok we are ready and we ordered but funny thing didn’t see the waitress writing the order so I thought she must be really good at it, minutes later she comes and ask us what the order was because she forgot the order, well minus one star, then she bring us our guacamole and as soon as I try a tortilla chip with guacamole I instantly trowed out it was long overdue, I smelled and it was the onions long long overdue I call in the waitress explained the situation and let her know it was fine, but no more guacamole for us, minus two stars by know, half hour later they bring the pupusas and they got the complete order wrong how mess up its that. I do understand when restaurant are so busy one thing may go wrong but in this case it was a completely chaos and the only customers there it was just us. Well today they lost a customer, no more pupusas for me from this place.

I’ve tried several Salvadoran restaurants and this place has the best pupusas and quesadillas. Don’t know how authentic this place is since i’m Mexican. But i’m a regular! Worth a try.

Horrible! Horrible! Worst than horrible service! The food is good but WOW! I have never been treated like I have at this place! Last time that I went I walked out with my family because we had like about one minute sitting down, hadn’t even opened the menu, when the waiter came to our table and rudely asked«Ok, so what do you guys want?» WTF!!! So what happened to taking our drink order while we look at the menu??? With that said even though I honestly do like the food and cozy restaurant, I will NEVER step foot in it again!!!

I live in Downey and this is the only place around my area I recommend! Idk why it doesn’t have great reviews food is great service needs improvement but that’s why I just don’t eat there and order everything to go! Mon-fri they have mini pupusas from 3 – 6 if I’m not mistaken on the time for $ 1 and they are amazing!!! I’m sure it’s just To-Go but since they’re $ 1 why not buy some for the whole family lol also they’re ensalada is to die for as well as they’re empanadas! I recommend it to everyone that says what salvadorian place do you recommend? This oneeeee if you don’t want to drive to LA!!!(:
