I wish I didn’t have to put any stars, their food was super nasty. I love Peruvian food and had it at different places but this place is horrible

Another delicious meal! My SO and I love this place — it is always very clean, the food is great, the portions are huge, and the waitress is very nice. I usually get the Paella — there is so much on the plate I get 3 meals out of it. The seafood in the dish is always fresh tasting and cooked perfectly so it doesn’t get rubbery. My SO likes the Grilled flat steak, with rice and black beans. The meat is cooked just right — not pink and not grilled to a crisp. We had a new treat today — the chicken soup. It was so good that we got a quart to go. Another great dish is the chicken or steak spaghetti — I have a hard time choosing which dish I want to order. Both dishes(paella and spaghetti) have plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. One thing I really like about this place is that the service is very relaxed. I don’t feel like I’m being rushed to eat and get out like at some other restaurants. I am able to have a nice slow, pleasant meal with plenty of conversation. If you are in a rush and want to eat fast and get out, this may not be the place for you. If you want to relax and enjoy being with your fellow diners, you’ll probably love it here.

Hidden gem! Excellent food and we’ve never had to wait for a table. Our favorite is the Lomo Saltado. Since it’s a fairly small place, the drinks are so-so, and the service is decent but not fabulous.

Awful. The juice was $ 5 — the waitress never said refills would be an additional $ 5! The lomo saltado was disgusting. Dripping with grease. No tomatoes. Avoid this place. I love Peruvian food. This place is a disgrace.

I’ll start out by saying the service really needs improvement. Waitress is slow and half asleep and didn’t seem very interested in our dining experience. The food is overpriced and the size portions are small. 2 starts for a clean establishment and for the free bread.

Great ceviche and chicken too. The small ceviche is actually more than enough if you wish to have a light lunch.

Food was awesome and service was terrific. We came in an ordered a non traditional dish and they were more than happy to accommodate. They even added a Peruvian flare to it.

Terrible service only 5 of us in the restaurant for lunch and waitress took 30 min to get our checks. She lacked enthusiasm when telling us about the Peruvian dishes.

First peruvian food I did not enjoy, place is nice but the food is bad. Chicha morada had a bad old taste, seems it has been there for a week, old not fresh, bread given at the entry was old, part of it hard and part of it soft, i you took it home to show my kids how hard this bread was. The fish was bad, was not cooked, seem they took it out frozen from the freezer(so it was not fresh) as I cut it to try to enjoy it, I found it still red in the middle and frozen so i gave it back to them, I will not be back.

Walking into this place on a quiet Saturday you would not expect much from the dim lit sign outside or the quiet environment inside. Let that not sway you away as you will be seated with priority and a friendly host will quickly take your order. We ordered the lomo and pollo saltado. Both plates were cooked to perfection with the right amount of spice to enlighten any bitter tongue, and the crunchiness of the moist thick fries that are savored with every bite. For the spicy affecionatos a green mild sauce to blanket the flavors to perfection. Would greatly recommend.

The environment is pretty casual Latin restaurant. I would say the pricing is a tad bit pricey, but the food is delicious. If your around the area, it’s a nice place to eat some Peruvian food. The service was great as well, she server was very attentive.

I’d never heard of this restaurant. A friend of mine recommended it. Everything was great. We didn’t have a reservation, didn’t have to wait. The filet mignon with the peppercorn seasoning was amazing — really enjoyed everything. Service was great too!

If your in town and want to try some Peruvian food, be sure to make a pit stop here! And choose from all the delicious plates they have to offer, I recommend the ceviche de pescado or the jalea

Had dinner here about 3 weeks ago with an associate and his family, food was delicious. I had the Malaya plate and Salmon appetizer which was KILLER delicious! I went back this past Thurs. 3÷27÷14 for lunch and had the Calamari appetizer plate and the Molcajete seafood plate… WOW! Service is great. I’ll definitely go back.

I’ve lived in Downey for almost 14 years and never considered this place until now. I’m glad I gave it a shot because the food is great and the service is better than most places I’ve been in this great city of ours. I’m now a fan of this place.

I’ve come here quite a few times and the food is consistently good and that’s why I’m giving this spot a 4 star rating. When it comes to reviews I like to focus of two attributes, the food and the service. The service here is mediocre. It’s not bad but it’s not great. It may be a language barrier issue but it doesn’t help their cause either way. The staff seems very friendly but they don’t really interact with you(unless you speak Spanish). ****I do want to be clear about one thing, the staff was never rude, it’s just the language barrier that sets a strange tone. So please don’t misconstrue this as the staff being rude. They do see a mostly Hispanic cliental*** But now to the food. My absolute favorite here is the Lomo Saltado. The portion size is fair for the price, most people will leave satisfied. The flavor is great. Lomo Saltado is strips of meat, French fries(still crispy), tomatoes and red onion all this is cooked in an amazing sauce. What’s nice about this place is that they don’t skimp on the meat and it’s an actual good cut of meat. So when you can find a place that makes Lomo Saltado w/tender beef and crispy fries it’s a win in my book. All in all I recommend this place and if possible I would polish up your Spanish speaking skills before coming here, it may make the experience that much more enjoyable. Enjoy!!!

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl and this place is delicious! I am specifically referring to the halibut ceviche, the shrimp ceviche, the lomo saltado, the pollo saltado, and the green sauce and bread! The service is either horrible or decent. The servers kind of take awhile, so don’t come in a rush and they aren’t very fluent in english in many cases. It’s kind of frustrating when I’m speaking english and they don’t understand. Luckily I know spanish, but I doubt all their customers are bilingual… One of the girls is disgustingly rude. She normally works weekdays around noon. It’s like she literally tries her hardest to get the worse tip possible from her tables. Even with the wack service, I still come back for the food and for they get 4 stars

I love Peruvian food and have tried so many types of lomo saltado. With that being said I was excited to try out this place. Plenty of parking outside and we got seated right away when I walked in. It wasn’t packed inside. Attire is casual, it’s a pretty big place inside, looks small outside. I ordered the lomo saltado and plantanos fritos my bf ordered a flan too and the food came out relatively fast. The plantanos fritos were good and not expensive like 2.50 but the lomo was okay. The meat wasn’t seasoned and tasted bland. I needed a lot of the green sauce to flavor it. Overall it was okay, not super delicious but not the worst either. The reviews seemed like this place was awesome but it varies per person. In my opinion I like cholito better off paramount in Downey. I might come back to try it again to see of maybe I got a bad batch of meat. I will update my review when I return back here.
