Second time stopping by here, except this time with my daughter(3 month old German Shepard). I believe the dude helping us out was named Angel, real cool dude! The outdoor patio was real nice and clean(Until my pup decided to make a little mess) Angel was real cool about it which was pretty awesome given anywhere else wouldn’t have been so cool with her mess/noise. Also the food was hecka good!

Back for the 3rd time. Last time I ordered the pepperoni pizza instead of a burger. It was great. I should’ve stuck with it. Instead, I decided to give them another chance and giving me a medium burger. Didn’t happen after two tries. They comp’ed both, so again, customer service is a virtue. The waitstaff and assistant mgr were very gracious about it as well(although apparently Mgr Scott was supposed to come to my table after both burgers but never quite made it out). I am gonna drop a star this time, though, because I just think a chef should be able to prepare a medium burger. This is not a complicated request. I have made them at home. They do not require assistance. If you like Medium or rarer, get your burger elsewhere. If you like medium well/well done, you’ll be fine. But even then… there are better burgers out there. I mean this is a short distance from In n Out…

We came to this location to enjoy a lunch after my granddaughter’s promotion. Nice location with plenty of parking. We were a group of 12. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived but it did take them some time to set up tables for us. There was also another large party, about 20, there too. We asked for a setting of 12 but they set up only 8 settings. So we had to wait again for them to add additional settings. Once we were seated we did have to wait for our waiter to take and deliver our drink orders. One positive was our waiter had no problem separating the check into 4 requested groups. He did that very well. Many places will not do that. Good job. Our food orders did not come out together. Not ever close together. Two burger orders came as I was finishing my salad. Not good. The food was okay. I did appreciate the low calorie menu. I ordered the Chicken Thai salad and it was good. My husband ordered the Cobb Salad was also okay: good mix of ingredients and not too much dressing. Will I come back again: probably not.

Michael was awesome! He has excellent customer service, and was on top of EVERYTHING! We did not need or want for anything because he already had it. He suggested the chicken wraps and I must say the food was delicious! My mom and I stopped by for a small bite so we ordered off the starter menu. Chicken wrap, quesadillas, Street corn(which are amazing) we will definitely be coming back. And hope to get Michaels section.

Happy Hour! Monday-Friday 3−6pm & Sunday-Thursday 9pm-close(bar & patio only) — Food and drink specials Ahhhhhhhh…it is so nice to have restaurants and other eateries walking distance from work. This gives me an excuse to invite friends to join me for lunch or post work happy hour. We stopped by Tuesday around 5:30pm, looking for some happy hour grub and there were plenty of tables available in the bar area. I didn’t realize how Asian inspired Lazy Dog’s happy hour menu entailed until I realized what we ordered. Chicken lettuce wraps($ 5), Ahi poke($ 5), Wok fired calamari with rice($ 7), Loaded Hush puppies($ 4) and chicken wings($ 5). The 2 of us plowed through most of the food pretty easily since it is «happy hour» portions. I think the tuna was probably not worth it(only 4 chips loaded with a small amount of poke on top) but everything else was good. Loaded Hush puppies is a good substitute for Porto’s potato balls(less meat though). All the above came out to be around $ 33 with tax/tip. Their $ 5 burger is unfortunately only available during their night happy hour. Angel was our server and service all around was great and friendly. The restaurant itself is quite big and reminded me of Yard House. Definitely a nice addition to the area! Parking: big outside lot

Very nice setting and design. Nice how it’s dog friendly and nice it has a meal menu for your dog. The menu is fusion I was not too impressed with the lemon chicken pasta. The Carne Asada portion could have been larger for the price. The turkey burger was good Our waitress was very plastic. If your going to be fake customer service at least practice better. She was more attentive to the tables who ordered drinks. I may return but I will make sure that my waitress is attentive not worried about me ordering from the bar.

This is our second time here and we gotta say that their scratch kitchen food(home made) is a must eat! This is such a great addition to the Downey community and we can’t wait to bring back our dogs throughout the summer. I tip my hat to the excellent service that Ashley Lopez has given us today. The manager Aaron was gracious enough to speak to us to make sure everything was going great. Overall, our experience with this restaurant has been marvelous. We highly recommend it and we can’t wait to keep trying more of their delicious food!

Great addition to Downey! Lazy Dog is visually pleasing = the colors, the artwork, the quotes, the paw prints on the table, everything. The hostess is courteous & professional. The servers, Dale & Marlene, were super-friendly & attentive the entire time. The manager came over & introduced herself. Great, friendly customer-oriented service. The food menu has something for everyone. Salads, soups, pizza, tacos, sandwiches = great variety. The drink menu is delightful = beer flight, sangria sampler, craft beers, martinis. Definitely something for everyone. Their green chili chicken nachos are the BOMB = you gotta try them!

While I am not familiar with other Lazy Dog Restaurants & Bars in SoCal, this latest addition to the restaurant chain is pretty swell. ENVIRONMENT It can get loud inside as it is one open room. Cool architectural features. Cute canine photos, symbols, and statues throughout. Some large flat screens near bar. At one point, T. Rex’s «Bang a Gong»(Get It On) played. :) SERVICE(5÷14÷16 at around noon) Lazy were the dogs we saw out on the patio, but not the service! The wait time for our actual food was a bit long, but we were okay with that. MYFAVORITEPART… was being greeted right away & not having to wait for a seat. Then they had high chairs for our girls. AND right before they brought them to our table, our host took it upon himself to wipe them down for us. THEGRUB — Cajun-style fries(I used my check-in offer to receive these free) — while I do appreciate the offer, they weren’t my cup of tea. They had a ton of Cajun-style(not spicy) powder sprinkled on them, yet, they were extremely bland. Very soon after our waitress took our order we received these steaming hot at our table for a little appetizer. — Ginger soy salmon with brown rice: I enjoyed this dish aside from the fact that the salmon was just a TAD overcooked. It was pretty flavorful, though. — Cucumber salad: My husband gave me this from his order since he didn’t want fries again and let me choose his side. I’d probably skip this next time as there was a bit too much red wine vinegar. I did enjoy the radishes, though! — Cucumber thyme lemonade: a refreshing treat that was not overly sweet! PARKING Free. Large lot in the surrounding area. TIPS — Pets allowed on patio. — Baby changing station in the handicap stall of the women’s restroom. — As we were leaving our waitress offered a «dog collar» for both of our kiddos… it’s a long piece of red licorice with some Fruit Loops. Ask for it! OVERALL This is a great lunch location if you’re already in the area. | Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Environment: 4 | Price: 4 | Review #471 ’16 Challenge #37

I love Lazy Dog! Their food is delicious, their customer service is great and their facility is kept clean. Yes, it gets extremely busy on the weekends but thankfully the wait isn’t too bad. Every time I think about their Sundried Tomato Pesto Pasta my mouth waters. That has to be one of my favorite dishes. Their Wok-Fired Calamari is definitely different but totally worth having. Their Sticky Ribs with Umami Fries are bomb! The ribs are extremely tender and juicy, and those Umami frieds are addicting! I’ve also had their Garlic-Butter Glazed Flat Iron Steak 10oz with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was cooked medium rare which was juicy and definitely tasty, the mashed potatoes were pretty good, I just wished the asparagus weren’t too soft.

I met a friend for lunch at this chain restaurant, located in the Downey Promenade. Service was slow, unorganized and — to put it nicely — lacked enthusiasm. I did appreciate that they comped our ice teas because there was a long wait while they brewed some. I ordered a wedge salad and a roasted chicken with havarti sandwich. My friend ordered a soup & sandwich combo. Instead of bringing out our soup and salad at the same time, her soup came out and I had to sit and wait another 10 minutes before my salad came out. We essentially had the privilege of sitting and watching each other eat. At least mine was a deliciously crisp, fresh salad. The sandwich was HUGE and good — aside from the thick stack of sliced roasted chicken and thin layer of melted havarti cheese, it also had tomato, avocado and greens(I requested no onions). The focaccia bread was tasty but way too thick — it was difficult to open my mouth that wide to take a bite and also filled me up too quickly. I didn’t even touch the accompanying fries. The chicken and other ingredients were delicious but the taste of the mild cheese was lost. There are no surprises here if you have been to other Lazy Dog locations; some people will like it better than others but I come down in the middle.

The city of Downey has seen an increase in the number of businesses taking advantage of this central location. More and more big name restaurant chains have started to call Downey their home. We have been eagerly awaiting Lazy Dog Café’s grand opening within recent months. Knowing the quality of the food, we were quite excited to have dinner here on a mid-week evening! Lazy Dog is located just on the corner of Lakewood Blvd and Apollo Way. You can also enter the shopping center off of Bellflower Blvd as well. If you’re traveling on the 105 freeway, exit Lakewood Blvd and head north to find the restaurant on the right hand side of the street. Anyway, my family and I came in on a busy Wednesday night and were told that it would be a 25 minute wait. Given that the restaurant was so crowded around 8:00PM, I took that as a good sign for what was yet to come! We were given a pager and we perused through the menu to determine what we’d like to order. It was in our best interest to know what we’d like to order prior to being seated. Once our pager went off, we were seated at our table and greeted by our waitress. We ordered our food and drinks as soon as we sat down. My mom and aunt ordered pulled pork sandwiches. The menu was a bit overwhelming with all of the options but in the end, I chose the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. My sister ordered the teriyaki chicken salad and my niece ordered a kids’ build your own pizza. She got to put all of her ingredients on top of her pizza and then they took it away to be baked in the oven. Her pizza had to be prepared at the table first so that all of our meals would come out of the kitchen and be served at the same time. Up to this point, everything was going well but then things changed quickly! My sister asked for more hot water for her tea and our waitress told us that she’d bring it in a minute. Still sitting there without anymore hot water for her tea, she began to feel frustrated. Then, my aunt’s pulled pork sandwich was brought to the table but that was the only dish that was there! At first, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed that they were going to bring the rest of our food but I was mistaken. Maybe 10 minutes later, my mom’s pulled pork sandwich and my fettuccine Alfredo showed up. Yet, my sister’s meal was still M.I.A! The manager was at the table next to us, speaking to other patrons so we flagged the him down. I told him that our our waitress had not brought the hot water for my sister’s tea nor had she brought her meal. I tried to keep my cool but he could see the level of frustration building in me! He was very concerned and said that he’d get to it right away. Immediately, he returned with hot water for the tea and told my sister that her meal was on the house. Coincidentally, our original waitress never returned and we had a different waitress for the rest of the evening. She was still in the restaurant but she wasn’t waiting on our table anymore! With Lazy Dog Café opening within recent months, they should have been able to work out the kinks. Of course everyone is still learning the ropes and getting the hang of things. Their food isn’t bad at all and I happen to enjoy eating here. I don’t know if this was just an off night or if our waitress was new but I’m glad that the manager stepped in to rectify the situation. I love Lazy Dog Café for their dog-friendly environment, great food, and hearty servings! Maybe we’ll come back over the summer and give this place another try!

I came here before and was not impressed with the service, but they were new at the time, and having been in the business, i felt it unfair to rate them at that time. This time, we went in on a Sunday afternoon, and wanted to sit in the bar — it was full but we found seats. We ordered three appetizers at separate times. Spinach and sun dried tomato cheese dip, this had a good flavor and was served hot. it was good, but I felt that the tortilla chips were overcooked. We ordered The buffalo wings tossed in the sauce and when delivered they weren’t tossed, so we sent them back. When they were delivered, they were tossed this time, just not very hot — temperature wise. The chicken chile verde nachos were not hot temperature wise and had a unique problem. I don’t know how it happened, but my wife and I shared the dish, as we sat across from each other. I found quite a few soggy chips and didn’t realize until midway thru the plate that there was chicken on them. My wife said that there was ample chicken on her side and no soggy chips at all. The beverage service is interesting from a guests point of view. We ordered a bottle of wine, it was served by two other waiters(Bar Expediters) they stopped in poured a little in the glasses and left. That was the extent of the wine service– we were on our own after that. if we wanted more we could pour it ourself. My wife ordered dessert — the Butter Cake — recommended by our order taker(Waiter). About twenty minutes later we still hadn’t received it. The waiter walked by and we called her over and asked about the dessert. She appeared to be shocked that it hadn’t been delivered and said that she would check on it. It was then delivered a short time later. It’s supposed to have a strawberry compote on it. It did but there was very little of it and the cake was rather dry The food, beverages and desserts are ordered by the waiter, and served by an expediter as well so the waiters seem to be actually just order takers — and maybe that is just in the bar but to me the service was marginal at best. There seems to be a major disconnect between the staff. The waiters don’t know if your food has been served and the expediters don’t check on you because they just run food. No one really knows what is happening at the table especially the guest. I am sure we will make another visit but probably will not eat in the bar again.

This isn’t my first time to Lazy Dog but this is my first time to this location. I’ve stated before that the food can be hit or miss and my opinion still stands with the food. This visit was just to grab a couple of beers & small plates for Happy Hour and to check out the new location. I like the layout of their outside patio. It was pretty packed and freezing but just to avoid a wait time, me and friends chose to sit outside. Luckily, there’s a fire pit in the center of the patio with seats to sit around as if you’re at a campfire. Its pretty cool and there’s a decent amount of room to sit your plates around the pit so you don’t have to move to a table to eat. This came in handy big time for us. Can’t say the same once Summer hits with the heat but it’ll still be fun to sit around haha. The service was good as well. I’ve yet to have an issue at any location service wise. With that being said, the new location is cool and convenient for myself as its now down the street from where I live. Happy Hour 2÷1÷2016
