Terrible atmosphere. Okay menu. Decent prices and a decent French dip. Did the job but won’t be back. Boyfriend said his chicken strips tastes like fish.

Amazing Onion Rings! If you are in search of the best onion rings ever … go to Dawsons. Went there with friends and had the special — BBQ beef sandwich, which was very good. However, the onion rings were amazing — the type of food you think about 3 days later and say«I need to go back.» Friends had the burgers and fries and raved about the fries as well, but me, I am an onion ring kinda gal. Will definately go back! Ambience is very orginal and country funk. Big bar in front that you need to walk through but definately worth the drive to Dixon.

Heard a lot about the good food here. Someone lied to me. Ordered the biscuits and gravy… nasty. Eggs were good. But biscuit and gravy were horrible. Gravy was vary floury… biscuits were not very flakey, rather more like a dry hockey puck. Will not return and that’s too bad, it is a cool place to hang out.

New to Dixon and the Carne Asada Tacos were delicious. The wait was a bit long, but the waitress/bartender lady was super nice. Price was right, too. Taco Thursday again next week.

I’ve been to Dawson’s a few times since the new owners came in and my first visit was awesome… food was delish! The last 3 times I’ve been in the service has been TERRIBLE and I mean TERRIBLE. My boyfriend and I went in to grab a drink in the bar before sitting down for breakfast. Waiter/bartender(the brunette one) looked at us both(as we said good morning) and walked away. 10 minutes later we got our drinks. We finally sat down for breakfast, she gave us menus and said absolutely nothing. All 3 of my past visits have been like this. First time I went I ordered a tri tip sandwich and it was awesome! Last time I ordered it, it was a completely different sandwich and it SUCKED. Everytime I’ve gone, there have been no refills, had to ask for ketchup and butter and blah blah! It’s usually really cold in there too… turn the heater on! Don’t know that we will ever be going back.

Dawson’s reopened under new management. I have tried out their food several times now and have found it quit good. Staff is always attentive and helpful. My cup never runs dry — a biggy for me!

Ha ha. Thought I wrote this yesterday, duh. Dawson’s re opened, new owners, new menu, new décor(uh, in progress). After the past 2 or 3 attemps it is exciting to see someone in there that wants to make it work. Went in for lunch yesterday. Frank had the Ortega burger, first bite he starts to rave, Frank so doesn’t rave, about how good the burger is and their competition better watch out cause this a a goooood burger! Wow, now Frank loves my cooking, and a good Rib eye Steak, he is a cowboy after all. So this was a new one for me. Claire is one of the new owners, took our order, talked to us like we were old friends and made a few recommendations for us. Thanks, Claire, we will be back!

Dixon, oh, Dixon… Where to go in Dixon for good food!!! Not Dawson’s. I was excited to learn that Dawson’s was going to reopen after being taken over and revamped(say what? still looks really bare in there) by a former owner of Plainfield Station. I had the Ortega Cheese Burger — it had an Ortega Chili on it that was pretty flavorless and mostly slimy. There was supposed to be spicy jack cheese on it. If there was any cheese it melted completely into the slimy chili or patty. I think the stuff I saw on the burger was mayo and not cheese at all. The fries looked like they could have been good, but by the time I got them they were cold and a little rubber like. My lunch date had the chili cheese burger. She took a bite and got a mouthful of bay leaf. Two questions: one, who puts bay leaf in chili, and two, if they do, why wouldn’t they take it out before serving? I miss the old Dawson’s where you could sit at the grill and watch them cook your breakfast. Ah, the good ol’ days. Definitely won’t be going back.

One the bloodymary’s are great, second my husband had the steak and eggs and they were perfectly done. Steak was made medium rare and wasn’t what you would except for a $ 7.00 breakfast. I had the swiss and mushroom burger and it was delicious! Im picky when it comes to a good burger but this was great. You are not going to come and get anything extravagant, but the simplicity of this place makes it some where you want to keep coming back! The staff/bartender was so welcoming and treated us like we were one of the locals. Make the trip to dixon to eat here!

Came here once, didn’t want to come back again. Husband likes it, i really disliked their biscuits and gravy. This time tried the BLT, can’t really mess that one up. They did use good lettuce on my sandwich, I hate iceberg lettuce on sandwiches. Iceberg lettuce is kind of insulting to people’s palate, cheap for the restaurant, and very crappy tasting. Service was good and pancakes were cooked just right. But I just can’t get into his place, it needs a face-lift décor wise. One a bright note it’s a full bar, bloody mary for breakfast anyone?

Great Burgers! Co-workers and I go in a pick up lunch often. The price is good for a nice burger and fry lunch, they also have cheap daily lunch specials that will fill you up. Worth stoping by for lunch!

Dawson’s is a bar, which also has a restaurant. It is small and is one of Dixon’s oldest establishments. I hadn’t been there in 10 years til this year. I’ve only eaten breakfast there each time. The french toast and pancakes are great, and they always cook the eggs and bacon perfectly. The plates have nice portions and I always leave full. The only gripe is that I wish they would dice they potatoes a little smaller, but there still okay. The kids always enjoy there meal, too. I can only recommned the breakfast since that’s all that I’ve had.

The owners here are very nice and care about their customers. Staff is nice as Well. Karaōke night on friday night is a highlight. They could use a new DJ for it, but its all right. Heather is the best bartender. If Kristi is working you might as well go to another bar.

Well I have been going to this place for 8 years, they have gone through a lot of staff so it is constantley changing but over all its great food at a small town hole in the wall. I had them cater my wedding and it was GREAT, tri tip, chicken, asparagus’s, mixed green salad, bread and butter, small baby reds.

Not sure about their catering, but the wife and I love to go here for breakfast. The corned beef hash is phenomenal, and goes well with a hot cup of coffee. Friendly wait-staff and a cozy interior finish off a great meal.
