Horrible food took forever to come. Wings and fries were soggy and the food was cold… Makes me not want to eat carry out ever again

They’re ok. One of the best in the area, which isn’t saying much for the quality of food… then again it’s the area. If that’s what people accept as food… Bless your organs and health. My only real complaint is that the young girl that has been answering the phones the last few months. She is beyond annoying and unprofessional. Maybe she’s just juggling too many tasks while taking calls, but it is maddening trying to give her my address, place the order and God forbid I have to pay by card. Like chick… Please just focus on this one call so we can quickly hang up. No one has mumbo sauce like Hong Kong in Fort Washington, which is truly sad since they’re closing their doors for retirement. Can some Chinese joint please step up their game and stop giving us mediocre crap? Delivery… The driver does not come to door depending on who it is. Frustrating with little ones or when you really don’t like to walk out your house looking a comfortable mess. *** forgot to mention that delivery takes an hour + lately… I live less than 5 minutes away****

I don’t normally do the«corry out», I prefer to make myself but today was one of those days at work and I just had a taste for some msg. Ordered over the phone with what sounded like a child. That’s cool. Teach them the family business. That was pretty much my interaction with the staff other than picking up and paying. No problems there. I had the shrimp and broccoli. It was more like broccoli with a lil bit of shrimp. Good thing I like broccoli and won’t mind eating just it for leftovers. Could have used more sauce too. Overall, not the best but not the worst. Decent spot to go if in a pinch.

We ordered a chicken fried rice, which they didn’t have on the menu but the lady was nice enough to make it for us. We also ordered a general Tso’s chicken, shrimp hunan. The food was very good! The place looks very sketchy but the food was great. Definitely worth 4 stars. Last but not least as a little treat they brought us little donut like pastries.

I have enjoyed hunan east since I moved to district heights in 2008. It has the cleanest interior and eating area(and I’m going to assume the kitchen is clean as well :-0) than any carry out in this area. The cashiers are very friendly and I love the fact that they are a close nit family. Cleanliness and friendliness are next to great tasting foodliness(the Foodie Trinity). Now to the food. It’s not bad at all for the area. I enjoy it and if you explore some of the other things on the menu besides the(general tso’s and orange chicken) like the duck and egg foo young, then you will be pleasantly surprised about how decent the food is. The chicken wings aren’t bad either. The spring rolls are a wonderful addition to a fat filled crave night when you order some lo mein or egg foo young. I would recommend getting all sauces on the side — as with many AmChin restaurants, the food is drowned in sauces. They have no problem putting the sauce in the side. I’d also recommend getting fried rice without added soy sauce. I promise, it tastes just the same. One of my favorite meals is the shrimp and brocolli with the sauce on the side. Bangin’ with an order of spring rolls on the side!

Yum! Ok so I was told to beware of Chinese food in the area– I should start by saying that… Been in the DC Area for a short time, and work in Suitland, MD so I decided to finally give this place a try. I have tried other places out in NEDC– was not impressed. FINALLY a decent Chinese option. The wonton soup was simple, but flavorful; just how I like it. Added some noodled that came with it(fried crispy noodles) it was delicious. The lo-mein may have a little bit too much oil… BUT not like I’ve had at places that ruin food with too much oil. I’ll ask that light oil be used next time. As for the restaurant its self, I did carryout. I was impressed by the smell! I hate when a restaurant smells like cleaning products, smoke, or any thing else really but it smelt like it should– food! I will return, next time I’ll dine in. :)

Ehh. Got chicken wings and fries with«mumble» sauce. The fries were over cooked and crunchy. Chicken was ok but not flavorful. The«mumble»(not mambo) sauce was thin and watered down. Tried them on a whim as I was too hungry and tired to keep driving around. Not going back. Place had a weird smell too.

Review is based on their delivery service; have not dined in at the restaurant. The menu is vast and the portions are huge. We ordered Crab Rangoon, Egg Drop Soup, Chicken lo Mein, and Szechuan Chicken. The egg drop soup and crab Rangoon were acceptable, my guy said chicken lo mein was terrible. I ordered the Szechuan Chicken«hot” — it was neither particularly warm temp wise or spicy. Way more of this meal went into the garbage disposal than into us. For those that like it — enjoy, as for me and my guy — it was quite underwhelming. Note: If you decide to try it — the delivery time was over an hour, the food was nearly cold and the delivery driver honked the horn and called us trying to get us to come to his vehicle to get the food — if I wanted curb service, I’d have gone through a drive thru! Our regular Chinese take-out place recently closed and we are searching for a replacement, the search continues.

This review applies to their delivery service only. We have not eaten at the restaurant. Let me start with one word: «Yuk». Now I will explain with a few more words. We ordered crab Rangoon, egg drop soup, chicken lo mein, and Szechuan chicken. The egg drop soup and crab Rangoon were acceptable, Szechuan chicken was passable, but the chicken lo mein was terrible. It had a strange taste, not a spice I was familiar with. Maybe you will like it, but«yuk». If you disagree, and like the food, be forewarned that delivery time was over an hour. Our regular Chinese restaurant closed and we are looking for a replacement, unfortunately Hunan East Chinese Restaurant ain’t it.

Adorable little carry out spot. Love the option to order online via thier website. That’s about where the good times end. The food, not so adorable. When perusing the menu online I noticed a few combos that one wouldn’t typically see or necessarily stomach. Steak & Cheese Eggroll??? I. can’t. They. shouldn’t. Just keeping it 100. I ordered the beef with oyster sauce. It was more bland than the Pope. Absolutely no distinguishable flavor. My friend ordered the combination sweet & sour dish. I think she went into diabetic shock. Where in the hell is the«sour» or balance to that dish? There just wasn’t any hope in finishing either meal. Ah, the search for good take-out(I know, an oxymoron) continues… Stay thirsty my friends.

I was a regular customer of this restaurant. The food is usually very good but the customer service truly sucks!!! I ordered delivery of a combination meal with shrimp(no shrimp was included) and chicken and vegetable soup(no chicken was included) I called the restaurant to resolve and was told to bring the food back for them to replace. Having just come from the hospital going to a restaurant was not my plan. The lady on the phone continued to put me on hold and finally decided to re-deliver the food offering me a 2-hour delivery time. When I mentioned that I would bring the food back but expected a refund she agreed to redeliver the food after putting me on hold 5 times and coming back and asking the questions over and over again and confirming with the chef that he did indeed include shrimp but would re-do the soup. I usually would give this restaurant high remarks but I will not be ordering food from them again. I don’t know why carry outs in predominately black neighborhoods feel like they can treat their customers poorly.

I added one extra thing to my delivery order and got multiple benefits! The food had a very rich color, the abundance and the goodness was so authentic to the the best in town reputation: had enough for lunch and dinner. the aroma and the flavors compared to most recent places i have ordered within the area… better taste, better ingredients and better efficency in delivery. I had the chicken with broccoli and fried rice, egg rolls, and chicken wings with something new to me mumba sauce. very tasty! It arrived with steam indicating it was fresh and hot like it is suppose to be when arriving and not driven around for a long period of time and the broccoli was cooked just right. I know now that I do not have to settle for ordinary when I had this experience of extraordinary. The egg rolls didnt taste unusual… they tasted just like they was suppose to. Their establishment also dont try to do too many foods like pizza, subs etc. hello; you other chinese places are trying to do too much. They deliver up to midnight on friday and saturday. they also have buffet for 5.95 offer coupons after so much spent, lunch specials as low as 4.95. I definitely will order from them again. Thanks for the delicous experience of finally finding a place I can order exceptional food to take straight to the table when it arrives to enjoy!
